MAnoj ji & Reniji,

AK dasha , as far as i remember Shri Sanjay ji mentioned in one of his

article,is the one  that gives the native the lessons and teachings of this life

....so in a sense it creates awareness in the native and thus can prove very

spiritual....So it is not good from a materialistic point and due to deprivation

based on the houses which AK lords the native tries to seek the spiritual

path...Just to explain ,the 5th lord and AK are same ,the native will experience

some problems, bitterness from his child that might alter his affection towards

his child and lead him to more spiritual path...

Dear Manoj ji,

//Isn't the AK's dasha supposed be a more difficult one rather than an easy one?

If my memory serves me right, I think Sunil Nair ji also mentioned this once

when analyzing a difficult period in a chart of a known person He further said

that the Dasa of AK planet is called Mrita Planet Dasa.

Manoj ji, can you please explain this...or may be any other learned member would

expand on this..

Thanks...

11th lord shani placed in 6th house and and if you consider 11th lord as Rahu(since JHORA is taking rahu as the lord) is in the 5th house--- On Tue, 14/7/09, Manoj Chandran <chandran_manoj wrote:Manoj Chandran <chandran_manojRe: Re:Rahu_ 11HDate: Tuesday, 14 July, 2009, 11:52 PM

Dear Deepen Ji,

What is the status of your 11L Shani? Also I think Parashara's dictum is specific to the 11L and not planet placed in the 11H. Learned members can correct me if I am wrong.

Dear Manojji,I have Ketu in 11th house in Aquarius sign...My Ketu dasha changed toppled my world upside down whether in materialistic way since it was frm 17to 24 yrs i completely lost my education and a promising career, also my firends in some ways and many more things..It completely changed my outlook towards the world....Haven' t passed through 11th lord shani, rahu dasha and think wont even pass through them so wont know what will be the effects....--- On Mon, 13/7/09, Manoj Chandran <chandran_manoj@ > wrote:

Dear Deepen Ji,

According to my teachings this does not hold true in practice. I have been taught that if the 11L is strong and well placed and unafflicted, his dasha will infact be very good in terms of materialistic achievements (which is what people go after in this day and age). It may not bring any religious/spiritual fulfillment.

All opposing views welcome. If any one has any practical example to show otherwise I would be grateful..

Dear Sreenadhji and other members,As Shri Kursijaji mentioned & also it is commonly known that Lord of 11th house has to be seen as a malefic & its dasha will bring lots of obstruction to the native's life...But if some planet is posited in the 11th House than will that planet take the responsibility of delivering the inauspicious results of the 11th house or still the deliverance will stay with the 11th lord..--- On Mon, 13/7/09, Sreenadh <sreesog > wrote:

Dear Kursija ji, //Thanks for the nice article.// It was your above statement that made me aware that it could be an article than a mere response message. :) So I have spell checked the same and posted it in AIA site as well. True - it is an article, even though I was not aware. :) Thanks. Also thanks for the valuable perspective shared about Rahu in 11H. I would like to add the our sages have take each bhava in two aspects. One for the Jeeva and second for the material. the

dasha of 11th lord as malefic,it does not mean that dasha of 11th will not give wealth or gain during his dasha, but it will not give peace of mind to the Jeeva. During the malefic lord of 11th's dasha the native have abundance of money, but no peace of mind.> It also mean that the benefic planet in 11th will give money with fare means and malefic planet will give money through wrong means. So Rahu in 11th will give money through gambling, speculation etc as you have stated, but the native will suffer from loss of peace of mind. You can correct me if I am wrong.> regards

understanding is that AK planets' primary purpose is to guide the native to

spiritual enlightenment. Hence during its period (dasha/antar) all other things

being considered, it tends to bring difficult circumstances as there seems to be

an inevitable link between difficulties and spiritual unfoldment (hence 2 of

the 3 moksha houses are dussthanas).

the AK, his period especially seems to have the tendency to bring in especially

difficult circumstances and sorrow. There is also an opinion prevailing amongst

some teachers that a peson with Rahu as AK will see much sorrow in his/her life

but will not give sorrow to other people. This needs to be validated by

experience. Rahu as AK also has the tendency (again considering the general

tenor of the chart in addittion) to make the person very spiritual, especially

during his period. It is significant to note that Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa

had Rahu as his AK (if you follow this scheme).

Dear Manoj ji & Deepen thakkar ji,

Thanks....I found the following in an article by Komilla Sutten. It's

beautiful....hence, let me quote her words.

//The truly revelation of the soul has to be a personal experience. Atmakaraka

shows us the true desires of the soul, whether we recognize them or not depends

on us.//

blessings,

Renu

spiritual....So it is not good from a materialistic point and due to deprivation

based on the houses which AK lords the native tries to seek the spiritual

path...Just to explain ,the 5th lord and AK are same ,the native will experience

some problems, bitterness from his child that might alter his affection towards

his child and lead him to more spiritual path...

Dear Manoj ji,From the study of a chart with rahu AK which I have, it appears to me the dictum does not hold good where this chart is concerned. The person's troubles started around the exact time the rahu dasa ended and guru dasa began. The opinion expressed by some astrologers that the person will experience much sorrow in life may be true but the opinion that they will not give much sorrow to others , once again, does not hold good in this case. May be an exception of course. Regards, Anita--- On Wed, 15/7/09, renunw <renunw wrote:renunw <renunw Re:Rahu_ 11H Date: Wednesday, 15 July, 2009,

This needs to be validated by experience. Rahu as AK also has the tendency (again considering the general tenor of the chart in addittion) to make the person very spiritual, especially during his period. It is significant to note that Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa had Rahu as his AK (if you follow this scheme).

Dear Manoj ji and Deepen ji<I understand that people with malefic retro AK (especially saturn in the 12th) have very heavy prarabda karma from past life to work out this time. What about 1) exalted and 2) debilitated AKs? Will the situation be different? I don't mean just in 12th house but in any house?Regards, Anita--- On Wed, 15/7/09, renunw <renunw wrote:renunw <renunw Re:Rahu_ 11H Date: Wednesday, 15 July, 2009, 6:19 PM

Dear Manoj ji & Deepen thakkar ji,

Thanks....I found the following in an article by Komilla Sutten. It's beautiful... .hence, let me quote her words.

//The truly revelation of the soul has to be a personal experience. Atmakaraka shows us the true desires of the soul, whether we recognize them or not depends on us.//

Dear Anita Ji,

First I have to admire youself and Renu Ji for right away searching through your database of charts when any new astro theory is talked about. It is really admirable and I am able to learn so much from the examples you both share.

//The opinion expressed by some astrologers that the person will experience much sorrow in life may be true but the opinion that they will not give much sorrow to others , once again, does not hold good in this case. May be an exception of course.//

This specifically was Shri Sanjay Rath Ji's opinion that I heard in one of his recorded talks on Navamsha. I am unable to comment further than that because I am not his direct student and I have been focussing on deepening Parashari principles instead of diving deep into Jaimini ones. I was hoping others on the forum could comment on this.

//Dear Manoj ji,From the study of a chart with rahu AK which I have, it appears to me the dictum does not hold good where this chart is concerned. The person's troubles started around the exact time the rahu dasa ended and guru dasa began//

This I can comment on because I have heard this from more than one teacher. My understanding is this: After one has analyzed the AK as you would any regular planet, one has to expect slightly more negative results from its Dasha because it is an AK. So this concept is only a modifier and not a dramatic shift (according to my understanding). So it not surprising what you are seing.

It is significant to note that Shri Ramakrishna Paramahansa had Rahu as his AK (if you follow this scheme).> > Experienced Jaimini scholars/students can please correct me if I am wrong, because I am not directly studying under any Jaimini teacher/scholar.> > Regards,> -Manoj> > > > > > ____________ _________ _________ __> renunw <renunw> ancient_indian_ astrology>

According to seven karaka scheme, Rahu becomes no karaka ever.

Dear Mouji Ji,

I followed that link as well and seems like PVR Ji's comments indicate that Rahu can be AK. Even if it does become AK, according to Shri Sanjay Rath Ji's teachings one has to subtract the Rahu's degrees from 30 to determine his AK status. So you can see that if you dont do this then even if you do consider Rahu, you might get a different answer.

-Manoj

Dear Mouji Ji,

Yes. But PVR ji is the Jyotish guru at SJC and does not follow the 7 karaka scheme but follows the 8 karaka scheme. If you ask me honestly these two sides may never come together. Those loyal to Shri KN Rao Ji will follow 7 karaka scheme. Those loyal to Shri Sanjay Rath Ji will follow 8 karaka scheme.

Two lines of Mark Twain are often quoted :

"Oh, East is East, and West is West, and never the two shall meet,"

However, two more lines are never quoted:

But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,

95

When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth.

"But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,

When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth".

Dear Manoj (Mouji) Ji,

Here is the problem. It is very difficult to objectively validate the efficacy of one particular theory, especially if it is used in an integrated approach (Parashari + Jaimini). If the practising astrologers are also intelligent and strong in the Parashari principles, they will get the predictions correct any way. So that does not prove that their Jamini principles are accurate, does it? This is why I dont see how these things can be categorically proven, one way or the other. I think it is up to each of us to evaluate each system and adopt whichever passes our practical tests.

I also feel (my humble pesonal opinion) that those that argue that these two principles should not be mixed together may have a valid point. Jyotish was always an orally transmitted system. If this system was truly an integrated approach, why aren't there more oral traditions with such integrated approach? Why aren't there more classics supporting this integrated approach? Was Parashara really the author of the BPHS as it is currently published, or is the current version a compilation effort from various sources and when that effort was done, different systems were mixed together?

So when some one says, "Parashara says this so it must be true (regarding the integrated system)", then what they are really saying is "The author of BPHS says this, so it must be true". Is the author of BPHS really Parashara?

Ofcourse I am neither a sanskrit scholar nor an accomplished astrologer but that does not prevent me from having a probing mind and ask these questions. However, if some one says " Look, I dont care if Parashara really authored this or not, I tried these two different techniques together, I experimented with it, it works, I like it, so leave me alone", then I am fine with that too.. Experimentation is good as long as we declare it is an experiment and it is a novel approach, but not really an "ancient approach".

So after a really circular route, I think the pivotal question becomes, is BPHS as it stands today, really "Ancient Indian Astrology"? Is it fair to use that as an argument to state that Parashari + Jaimini principles, used in an integrated approach, has classical sanction?

May be Sreenadh Ji and others throw some light on this?

-Manoj

Mouji Sahab ji,

You are right when you say"Parashari + Jaimini principles, used in an integrated approach, has classical sanction?" I feel that the present BPHS compilation of the systems of astrology prevalent at that time. It is my personal experience that When we use Parashari and Jaimini use interestedly our prediction is more near perfection. It is what ICAS is teaching in Visharad paper VI.

Regards,

When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth.

"But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,

When two strong men stand face to face, tho’ they come from the ends of the earth".
