Ravindran Kesavan 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2008 Dear Avinash, Ravana is born with ten heads. And in birth itself his father named him dasamuka due to this. The interpretations of him not having ten heads actually, and they symbolically represent his knowledge, is a rational interpretation. If this is true then we should advance the same rational interpretation to all mythological beings including gods. Four headed brahma then would simply mean actuially a one headed person with knowledge of four vedas , Six headed kartikeya really had no six head etc. If we were to take puranas as such - with out rationalizing - then we need to assume that Ravana was a ten headed being.
