sometimes moody, with the blues

I saw the moody blues many times in the day, and they were not really my favorite. Very professional, almost too refined for the sixties set. But now Im old and dont care, so I appreciate a later hit of theirs, as follows:

I Know You're Out There Somewhere

I know you're out there somewhere,

Somewhere, somewhere

I know I'll find you somehow

And somehow I'll return again to you.

The mist is lifting slowly,

I can see the way ahead

And I've left behind the empty streets

That once inspired my life

And the strength of the emotion

Is like thunder in the air

'Cos the promise that we made each other

Haunts me to the end.

I know you're out there somewhere,

Somewhere, somewhere

I know you're out there somewhere,

Somewhere you can hear my voice.

I know I'll find you somehow,

Somehow, somehow.

I know I'll find you somehow

And somehow I'll return again to you.

The secret of your beauty

And the mystery of your soul

I've been searching for in everyone I meet

And the times I've been mistaken

It's impossible to say

And the grass is growing

Underneath our feet.

I know you're out there somewhere,

Somewhere, somewhere

I know you're out there somewhere,

Somewhere you can hear my voice.

I know I'll find you somehow,

Somehow, somehow.

I know I'll find you somehow

And somehow I'll return again to you.

The words that I remember

From my childhood still are true

That there's none so blind

As those who will not see

And to those who lack the courage

And say it's dangerous to try

Well they just don't know

That love eternal will not be denied.

I know you're out there somewhere,

Somewhere, somewhere

I know you're out there somewhere,

Somewhere you can hear my voice.

I know I'll find you somehow,

Somehow, somehow.

I know I'll find you somehow

And somehow I'll return again to you.

Yes, I know it's going to happen,

I can feel you getting near

And soon we'll be returning

To the fountain of our youth

And, if you wake up wondering

In the darkness, I'll be there.

My arms will close around you

And protect you with the truth.

I know you're out there somewhere,

Somewhere, somewhere

I know you're out there somewhere,

Somewhere you can hear my voice.

I know I'll find you somehow,

Somehow, somehow.

I know I'll find you somehow

And somehow I'll return again to you.

Nice song, eh. Haribol, mahaksadasa

Loreena McKennitt - Dante's prayer

When the dark wood fell before me

And all the paths were overgrown

When the priests of pride say there is no other way

I tilled the sorrows of stone

I did not believe because I could not see

Though you came to me in the night

When the dawn seemed forever lost

You showed me your love in the light of the stars

Chorus:

Cast your eyes on the ocean

Cast your soul to the sea

When the dark night seems endless

Please remember me

Then the mountain rose before me

By the deep well of desire

From the fountain of forgiveness

Beyond the ice and the fire

Chorus

Though we share this humble path, alone

How fragile is the heart

Oh give these clay feet wings to fly

To touch the face of the stars

Breathe life into this feeble heart

Lift this mortal veil of fear

Take these crumbled hopes, etched with tears

We'll rise above these earthly cares

Chorus

Please remember me

Please remember me, ...

Old And Wise

The Alan Parsons Project

As far as my eyes can see..

There are shadows approaching me..

And to those I left behind

I wanted you to know

You've always shared my deepest thoughts

You follow where I go

And oh,

When I'm old and wise

Bitter words mean little to me

Autumn winds will blow right through me

And someday

In the mist of time

When they asked me if I knew you

I'd smile and say you were a friend of mine

And the sadness would be lifted from my eyes

Oh when I'm old and wise

As far as my eyes can see..

There are shadows surrounding me..

And to those I leave behind

I want you all to know

You've always shared my darkest hours

I'll miss you when I go

And oh,

When I'm old and wise

Heavy words that tossed and blew me

Like autumn winds will blow right through me

And someday,

In the mists of time

When they ask you if you knew me

Remember that you were a friend of mine

As the final curtain falls

Before my eyes

Oh when I'm old and wise

As far as my eyes can see...

SOME OTHER TIME

The Alan Parsons Project

In a matter of a moment

Lost 'til the end of Time

It's the evening of another day

And the end of mine

Now the starlight which has found me

Lost for a million years

Tries to linger

As if fills my eyes 'til it disappears

Could it be

That somebody else is looking into my mind

Some other place, somewhere...

Some other time

Some other place, somewhere...

Some other time

- instrumental -

Like a mirror held before me

Large as the sky is wide

And the image

Is reflected back to the other side

Could it be

That somebody else is looking into my mind

Some other place, somewhere...

Some other time

Some other place, somewhere...

Some other time

A BROTHER UP IN HEAVEN

The Alan Parsons Project

A boy flies for freedom

But dies for the peace

In the clouds, he waits for an answer

But there's no release

It's strange here without you

And it's so hard to see

So brother up in heaven

Please wait up for me

Oh brother up in heaven

Please wait up for me

I still see his shadow

His laugh lingers on

When I dream, we're all back together

When I wake, he's gone

It's strange here without you

This was not ment to be

So brother up in heaven

Please wait up for me

And though we try to change the world

A flower when it's cut will surely die

So why do men with so much hate

Destroy what they cannot create

While we all stand by

We will look back in anger

But you helped us to see

So brother up in heaven

Please wait up for me

Oh brother up in heaven</pre>

Paradise City Lyrics

by Guns 'n' Roses

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are prettyTake me home

Oh, won't you please take me home

Just an urchin livin' under the street, hard case that's tough to beat

I'm your charity case, so buy me somethin' to eat, I'll pay you at another time

Take it to the end of the line

Ragz to richez or so they say, ya gotta-keep pushin' for the fortune and fame

It's all a gamble when it's just a game, ya treat it like a capital crime

Everybody's doing their time

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Take me home

Strapped in the chair of the city's gas chamber

Why I'm here I can't quite remember

The surgeon general says it's hazardous to breathe

I'd have another cigarette but I can't see

Tell me who you're gonna believe

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Take me home, yeah

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Oh, won't you please take me home

So far away, so far away, so far away, so far away

Captain America's been torn apart

Now he's a court jester with a broken heart

He said- turn me around and take me back to the start

I must be losin' my mind- "Are you blind?"I've seen it all a million times

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Take me home

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Oh, won't you please take me home

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Take me home

Take me down to the paradise city

Where the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Take me home Oh, won't you please take me home

Oh I wanna go, I wanna go, oh won't you please take me home

Oh won't you please take me home

Take me down to the paradise cityWhere the grass is green and the girls are pretty

Take me home

Oh, won't you please take me home

Some time around 97'(cannot remember exactly) I was sitting at a public green listening to a Koori singer. Her lyrics were awesome and her presence was like a kind hearted storytelling mum. After the concert I strolled home, got out the guitar and started trying to sing like what I had just been listening to...these lyrics just came out from the heart....the singers name was Ruby Hunter...just awesome.

In fact Mahak...as the years have gone on...this is the only song I remember...pretty basic...but it meant something at the time.

****Father to son****

Hold on to your hopes and dreams,

and know that you are loved.

You mean something to me,

more than you might know,

so put your trust in me.

And proclaim your faith,

let your true song fly,

so all people see,

the beauty deep within the heart,

that's what I treasure most.

From father to son,

I give you all my love.

And proclaim your faith,

let your true song fly

that's what I treasure most.

From father to son

I give you all my love.

Krsna is the ability shown by humankind. Some say its maya, but I dont consider the awe coming from viewing a Bottacelli to be maya, because such awe awakens the spiritual essence of the self.

Some of the music coming down the pipe are true masterpieces, especially the ones that dont get much acclaim (meaning they dont make the big bucks). The song Im searching after to share cannot even be found. The song is titled "Its a Brand New Day" by a band called Praise. If one sees the good 1997 surf movie, "In God's Hands", this song is done in its entirity at the very end during the credit roll. The vocals are truely heavenly (think of mira or noreena mckennett), the instrumentals are awesome, and the chanting is sublime.

Next time I watch the movie, ill try to copy the lyrics. Another song I cannot find, by a female vocalist (im thinking Canada, but it didnt turn up in my alanis morisette search), that has a verse "I cant breathe". This sond is also awesome in that it starts out like a normal C&W song and builds to the grunge effect of Nirvana and other seattle based rockers. Diverse, diverse, and again, its the vocalist that gets me every time.

I guess thats why I still have a bit of admiration for Hamsaduta, his voice was quite good in the day. But then again, even bad voices chanting are sublime, because another big brother favorite in the day was subala, and he couldnt carry a tune.

Like neil young, his voice is bad, but his music is the best, so if ya do a movie, try Johnny Depp's Dead Man, and listen to Mr. Young jammin during the whole arty film. Dead Man is my #1 all time movie fav, BTW.

"Krsna is the ability shown by humankind. Some say its maya, but I dont consider the awe coming from viewing a Bottacelli to be maya, because such awe awakens the spiritual essence of the self."

Its interesting because when I was a kid I worshipped sports heroes and music heroes. When you get older and you realize that Krishna is the source of all genius it becomes illogical to worship anyone other than Krishna especially mere mortals. Now when I see someone with extraordinary abilities or attributes even if they are of the mundane realm it makes me wonder what kind of activities they have done in order to get such favor from Krishna.

Love Johnny Cash. Read one of his later biographies one time. Great man who experienced such depth of life. Got pretty Johnny-ied out for quiet some years there to be honest. He made a real classic Jesus movie on a shoestring budget in the seventies-real classic little movie. Wish I still had it.

I am glad Mahak decided to get this thread going. I relate to where he is coming from with that Bottaceli concept (never heard Botacelli by the way), but had a copy of an opera on the Life of St Francis once...wonderful.

"OLD SOULS"

Our love, is an old love baby

is older than all of our years

I had seen in strangers eyes

familiar tears

We're old souls, in a new life baby

they gave us a new lifeto live and learn

some time to touch old friends and still return

Our paths have corssed and parted, this love

affair was started long... long ago

this love survives the ages

in its story lives are pages... filled them all

made all slow

oh oh oh

Our love is stronger baby

we give it all and still receive

and so in empty arms

we must still believe

Old souls last forever

so we need never fear a goodbye

A kiss when i must go

no tears.....

in time, we kiss....... Hello!

[Paul Williams from the Phantom of the Paradise]

-----------

"I'M GOING HOME'

On the day I went away... goodbye...

Was all I had to say... now I...

I want to come again and stay... Oh my my...

Smile, and that will mean that I may

Cause I've seen blue skies, through the tears

In my eyes

And I realise.. I'm going home.

Everywhere it's been the same... feeling...

Like I'm outside in the rain... wheeling...

Free, to try and find a game... dealing...

Cards for sorrow, cards for pain

Cause I've seen blue skies through the tears

In my eyes

And I realise.. I'm going home.

I'm going home, I'm going home.

----

"SUPERHEROES"

I've done a lot, God knows I've tried

To find the truth, I've even lied

But all I know is down inside I'm bleeding.

And Super Heroes come to feast

To taste the flesh not yet deceased

And all I know is still the beast is feeding.

And crawling on the planet's face

Some insects called the human race

Lost in time, lost in space

And meaning.

This is a classic, be warned, upon listening can send shivers of bliss through the mortal coil.

Chestnut Mare

Written by roger mcguinn and jacques levy

Always alone never with a herd

Prettiest mare Ive ever seen

Youll have to take my word

Im gonna catch that horse if I can

And when I do Ill give her my brand

Well I was up on stony ridge after this chestnut mare

Id been chasin her for weeks

Oh, Id catch a glimpse of her every once in a while

Takin her meal, or bathin

A fine lady

This one day I happened to be real close to her

I saw her standin over there

So I snuck up to her nice and easy

And I got my rope out

And I flung it in the air

Im gonna catch that horse if I can

And when I do Ill give her my brand

And well be friends for life

Shell be just like a wife

Im gonna catch that horse if I can

Well I got her, and Im pullin on her, shes pullin back

Like a mule goin up a ladder

I take this chance and I jump up on her

Damned if I dont land right on top of her

Well she takes off, runnin up on to that ridge

Higher than Ive ever been before

Shes runnin along just fine, till she stops

Something spooked her

Its a sidewinder, all coiled and ready to strike

She doesnt know what to do for a second

But then she jumps off the edge

Me holding on

Above the clouds

Higher than eagles were gliding

Suspended in the sky

Over the moon

Straight for the sun we were riding

My eyes were filled with light

Behind us black walls

Below us a bottomless canyon

Floating with no sound

Gulls far below

Seemed to be suddenly rising

Exploding all around

Im gonna catch that horse if I can

And when I do Ill give her my brand

And well be friends for life

Shell be just like a wife

Im gonna catch that horse if I can

And we were falling down this crevice, about a mile down

Id say! I look down and I see this red thing below us

Its our reflection in a little pool of water

About six feet wide, and one foot deep

And were comin up real fast

Crawling down right through it

We hit and we splashed it dry

Thats when I lost my hold and she got away

But Im gonna try to get her again some day

Im gonna catch that horse if I can

And when I do Ill give her my brand

And well be friends for life

Shell be just like a wife

Im gonna catch that horse

Im gonna catch that horse

Im gonna catch that horse if I can

Im gonna catch that horse if I can

" If it be your will"

If it be your will

That I speak no more

And my voice be still

As it was before

I will speak no more

I shall abide until

I am spoken for

If it be your will

If it be your will

That a voice be true

From this broken hill

I will sing to you

From this broken hill

All your praises they shall ring

If it be your will

To let me sing

From this broken hill

All your praises they shall ring

If it be your will

To let me sing

If it be your will

If there is a choice

Let the rivers fill

Let the hills rejoice

Let your mercy spill

On all these burning hearts in hell

If it be your will

To make us well

And draw us near

And bind us tight

All your children here

In their rags of light

In our rags of light

All dressed to kill

And end this night

If it be your will

If it be your will.

"Everybody knows"

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded

Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed

Everybody knows that the war is over

Everybody knows the good guys lost

Everybody knows the fight was fixed

The poor stay poor, the rich get rich

That's how it goes

Everybody knows

Everybody knows that the boat is leaking

Everybody knows that the captain lied

Everybody got this broken feeling

Like their father or their dog just died

Everybody talking to their pockets

Everybody wants a box of chocolates

And a long stem rose

Everybody knows

Everybody knows that you love me baby

Everybody knows that you really do

Everybody knows that you've been faithful

Ah give or take a night or two

Everybody knows you've been discreet

But there were so many people you just had to meet

Without your clothes

And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows

That's how it goes

Everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows

That's how it goes

Everybody knows

And everybody knows that it's now or never

Everybody knows that it's me or you

And everybody knows that you live forever

Ah when you've done a line or two

Everybody knows the deal is rotten

Old Black Joe's still pickin' cotton

For your ribbons and bows

And everybody knows

And everybody knows that the Plague is coming

Everybody knows that it's moving fast

Everybody knows that the naked man and woman

Are just a shining artifact of the past

Everybody knows the scene is dead

But there's gonna be a meter on your bed

That will disclose

What everybody knows

And everybody knows that you're in trouble

Everybody knows what you've been through

From the bloody cross on top of Calvary

To the beach of Malibu

Everybody knows it's coming apart

Take one last look at this Sacred Heart

Before it blows

And everybody knows

Everybody knows, everybody knows

That's how it goes

Everybody knows

Oh everybody knows, everybody knows

That's how it goes

Everybody knows

Everybody knows

His greatest hit, I walk the Line, is quite profound, check out these lyrics:

I WALK THE LINE - Johnny Cash

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

I keep my eyes wide open all the time

I keep the ends out for the tie that binds

Because you're mine, I walk the line

I find it very, very easy to be true

I find myself alone when each day is through

Yes, I'll admit that I'm a fool for you

Because you're mine, I walk the line

As sure as night is dark and day is light

I keep you on my mind both day and night

And happiness I've known proves that it's right

Because you're mine, I walk the line

You've got a way to keep me on your side

You give me cause for love that I can't hide

For you I know I'd even try to turn the tide

Because you're mine, I walk the line

I keep a close watch on this heart of mine

I keep my eyes wide open all the time

I keep the ends out for the tie that binds

Because you're mine, I walk the line

Because you're mine, I walk the line

mahaksadasa comment: Sometimes, love songs touch the real essence of bhakti, because our REAL pinings are for the ONE we really miss. Love songs by the likes of George Harrison, Dylan especially, Gene Pitney, Roy Orbison, these songs can make the devotee feel separation from whom the devotee loves. Maybe its the devotee appreciator and not really the artist, but I sure see a deeper meaning to this excellent tune.

These are nice. Sometimes I think that the arguing and ranting that can go on is people are not fully in touch with their bliss and are in fact mourning for a lack of bliss in their lives. Arguing and feeling right and superior does give one a high I suppose; yet behind the arguing I often sense a feeling of simple yearning for the days of one's youth: be it that one transcendent kirtan that sold one on being a devotee for life or whatever. It's nice in this thread how music can universally uplift, elevate, and transport the human spirit. That is why college radio can be so nice sometimes also. You can hear and request this kind of music; they don't have payola and playlists like the Top 40.

Every Grain of Sand

In the time of my confession, in the hour of my deepest need

When the pool of tears beneath my feet flood every newborn seed

There's a dyin' voice within me reaching out somewhere,

Toiling in the danger and in the morals of despair.

Don't have the inclination to look back on any mistake,

Like Cain, I now behold this chain of events that I must break.

In the fury of the moment I can see the Master's hand

In every leaf that trembles, in every grain of sand.

Oh, the flowers of indulgence and the weeds of yesteryear,

Like criminals, they have choked the breath of conscience and good cheer.

The sun beat down upon the steps of time to light the way

To ease the pain of idleness and the memory of decay.

I gaze into the doorway of temptation's angry flame

And every time I pass that way I always hear my name.

Then onward in my journey I come to understand

That every hair is numbered like every grain of sand.

I have gone from rags to riches in the sorrow of the night

In the violence of a summer's dream, in the chill of a wintry light,

In the bitter dance of loneliness fading into space,

In the broken mirror of innocence on each forgotten face.

I hear the ancient footsteps like the motion of the sea

Sometimes I turn, there's someone there, other times it's only me.

I am hanging in the balance of the reality of man

Like every sparrow falling, like every grain of sand.

GOD KNOWS

God knows you ain't pretty,

God knows it's true.

God knows there ain't anybody

Ever gonna take the place of you.

God knows it's a struggle,

God knows it's a crime,

God knows there's gonna be no more water

But fire next time.

God donÕt call it treason,

God donÕt call it wrong.

It was supposed to last a season

But it's been so strong for so long.

God knows it's fragile,

God knows everything,

God knows it could snap apart right now

Just like putting scissors to a string.

God knows it's terrifying,

God sees it all unfold,

There's a million reasons for you to be crying

You been so bold and so cold.

God knows that when you see it,

God knows you've got to weep,

God knows the secrets of your heart,

He'll tell them to you when you're asleep.

God knows there's a river,

God knows how to make it flow,

God knows you ain't gonna be taking

Nothing with you when you go.

God knows there's a purpose,

God knows there's a chance,

God knows you can rise above the darkest hour

Of any circumstance.

God knows there's a heaven,

God knows it's out of sight,

God knows we can get all the way from here to there

Even if we've got to walk a million miles by candlelight

FOREVER YOUNG

May God bless and keep you always,

May your wishes all come true,

May you always do for others

And let others do for you.

May you build a ladder to the stars

And climb on every rung,

May you stay forever young,

Forever young, forever young,

May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,

May you grow up to be true,

May you always know the truth

And see the lights surrounding you.

May you always be courageous,

Stand upright and be strong,

May you stay forever young,

Forever young, forever young,

May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,

May your feet always be swift,

May you have a strong foundation

When the winds of changes shift.

May your heart always be joyful,

May your song always be sung,

May you stay forever young,

Forever young, forever young,

May you stay forever young.

MAN OF PEACE

Look out your window, baby, there's a scene you'd like to catch,

The band is playing "Dixie," a man got his hand outstretched.

Could be the Fuhrer

Could be the local priest.

You know sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

He got a sweet gift of gab, he got a harmonious tongue,

He knows every song of love that ever has been sung.

Good intentions can be evil,

Both hands can be full of grease.

You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

Well, first he's in the background, then he's in the front,

Both eyes are looking like they're on a rabbit hunt.

Nobody can see through him,

No, not even the Chief of Police.

You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

Well, he catch you when you're hoping for a glimpse of the sun,

Catch you when your troubles feel like they weigh a ton.

He could be standing next to you,

The person that you'd notice least.

I hear that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

Well, he can be fascinating, he can be dull,

He can ride down Niagara Falls in the barrels of your skull.

I can smell something cooking,

I can tell there's going to be a feast.

You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

He's a great humanitarian, he's a great philanthropist,

He knows just where to touch you, honey, and how you like to be kissed.

He'll put both his arms around you,

You can feel the tender touch of the beast.

You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

Well, the howling wolf will howl tonight, the king snake will crawl,

Trees that've stood for a thousand years suddenly will fall.

Wanna get married? Do it now,

Tomorrow all activity will cease.

You know that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

Somewhere Mama's weeping for her blue-eyed boy,

She's holding them little white shoes and that little broken toy

And he's following a star,

The same one them three men followed from the East.

I hear that sometimes Satan comes as a man of peace.

PRECIOUS ANGEL

Precious angel, under the sun,

How was I to know you'd be the one

To show me I was blinded, to show me I was gone

How weak was the foundation I was standing upon?

Now there's spiritual warfare and flesh and blood breaking down.

Ya either got faith or ya got unbelief and there ain't no neutral ground.

The enemy is subtle, how be it we are so deceived

When the truth's in our hearts and we still don't believe?

Shine your light, shine your light on me

Shine your light, shine your light on me

Shine your light, shine your light on me

Ya know I just couldn't make it by myself.

I'm a little too blind to see.

My so-called friends have fallen under a spell.

They look me squarely in the eye and they say, "All is well."

Can they imagine the darkness that will fall from on high

When men will beg God to kill them and they won't be able to die?

Sister, lemme tell you about a vision I saw.

You were drawing water for your husband, you were suffering under the law.

You were telling him about Buddha, you were telling him about Mohammed in the same breath.

You never mentioned one time the Man who came and died a criminal's death.

Shine your light, shine your light on me

Shine your light, shine your light on me

Shine your light, shine your light on me

Ya know I just couldn't make it by myself.

I'm a little too blind to see.

Precious angel, you believe me when I say

What God has given to us no man can take away.

We are covered in blood, girl, you know our forefathers were slaves.

Let us hope they've found mercy in their bone-filled graves.

You're the queen of my flesh, girl, you're my woman, you're my delight,

You're the lamp of my soul, girl, and you touch up the night.

But there's violence in the eyes, girl, so let us not be enticed

On the way out of Egypt, through Ethiopia, to the judgment hall of Christ.

Shine your light, shine your light on me

Shine your light, shine your light on me

Shine your light, shine your light on me

Ya know I just couldn't make it by myself.

I'm a little too blind to see.

PRECIOUS MEMORIES

As I travel down life's pathway,

Know not what the years may hold.

As I ponder, hopes grow fonder,

Precious memories flood my soul

Precious father, loving mother,

Glide across the lonely years.

And old homes scenes of my childhood

In fond memory appears.

Precious memories, how they linger

How they ever flood my soul.

In the stillness of the midnight,

Precious sacred scenes unfold.

SAVING GRACE

If You find it in Your heart, can I be forgiven?

Guess I owe You some kind of apology.

I've escaped death so many times, I know I'm only living

By the saving grace that's over me.

By this time I'd-a thought I would be sleeping

In a pine box for all eternity.

My faith keeps me alive, but I still be weeping

For the saving grace that's over me.

Well, the death of life, then come the resurrection,

Wherever I am welcome is where I'll be.

I put all my confidence in Him, my sole protection

Is the saving grace that's over me.

Well, the devil's shining light, it can be most blinding,

But to search for love, that ain't no more than vanity.

As I look around this world all that I'm finding

Is the saving grace that's over me.

The wicked know no peace and you just can't fake it,

There's only one road and it leads to Calvary.

It gets discouraging at times, but I know I'll make it

By the saving grace that's over me.

WITH GOD ON OUR SIDE

Oh my name it is nothin'

My age it means less

The country I come from

Is called the Midwest

I's taught and brought up there

The laws to abide

And that land that I live in

Has God on its side.

Oh the history books tell it

They tell it so well

The cavalries charged

The Indians fell

The cavalries charged

The Indians died

Oh the country was young

With God on its side.

Oh the Spanish-American

War had its day

And the Civil War too

Was soon laid away

And the names of the heroes

I's made to memorize

With guns in their hands

And God on their side.

Oh the First World War, boys

It closed out its fate

The reason for fighting

I never got straight

But I learned to accept it

Accept it with pride

For you don't count the dead

When God's on your side.

When the Second World War

Came to an end

We forgave the Germans

And we were friends

Though they murdered six million

In the ovens they fried

The Germans now too

Have God on their side.

I've learned to hate Russians

All through my whole life

If another war starts

It's them we must fight

To hate them and fear them

To run and to hide

And accept it all bravely

With God on my side.

But now we got weapons

Of the chemical dust

If fire them we're forced to

Then fire them we must

One push of the button

And a shot the world wide

And you never ask questions

When God's on your side.

In a many dark hour

I've been thinkin' about this

That Jesus Christ

Was betrayed by a kiss

But I can't think for you

You'll have to decide

Whether Judas Iscariot

Had God on his side.

So now as I'm leavin'

I'm weary as Hell

The confusion I'm feelin'

Ain't no tongue can tell

The words fill my head

And fall to the floor

If God's on our side

He'll stop the next war.

Try Some Buy Some

Way back in time

Someone said try some

I tried some

Now buy some - I bought some . . .

Oh Oh Oh

After a while

when I had tried them

denied them

I opened my eyes and

I saw you . . .

Not a thing did I have

Not a thing did I see

'Till I called on your love

And your love came to me

OH OH OH OH OH OH

Through my life

I've seen gray sky,

met big fry,

seen them die to get high . . .

Oh Oh Oh

And when it seemed that I would

always be lonely

I opened my eyes and I saw you

Not a thing did I feel

Not a thing did I know

'Till I called on your love

And your love sure did grow

OH OH OH OH OH OH

Won't you try some

Baby won't you buy some

Won't you try some

Baby won't you buy some</pre>

The Light That Has Lighted The World

by George Harrison

I've heard how some people,

have said that I've changed

That I'm not what I was

How it really is a shame

The thoughts in their heads,

Manifest on their brow

Like bad scars from ill feelings

they themselves arouse

So hateful of anyone

that is happy or 'free'

They live all their lives,

without looking to see

The light that has lighted the world

It's funny how people,

just won't accept change

As if nature itself -

they'd prefer re-arranged

So hard to move on

When you're down in a hole

Where there's so little chance,

to experience soul

I'm grateful to anyone,

that is happy or 'free'

for giving me hope

while I'm looking to see

The light that has lighted the world

where you been gHari.

After your light that has lighted the world post I was going to post be here now....such a beautiful song.

Be Here Now by George Harrison

Remember, now, be here now

As its not like it was before.

The past, was, be here now

As its not like it was before - it was

Why try to live a life,

That isnt real,

No how

A mind, that wants to wander,

round a corner,

Is an un-wise mind

Now, is, be here now

And its not what it was before,

Remember, now, be here now

As its not like it was before - it was

Peace by King Crimson

Peace is a word

Of the sea and the wind.

Peace is a bird who sings

As you smile.

Peace is the love

Of a foe as a friend;

Peace is the love you bring

To a child

Searching for me

You look everywhere,

Except beside you.

Searching for you

You look everywhere,

But not inside you.

Peace is a stream

From the heart of a man;

Peace is a man, whose breadth

Is the dawn.

Peace is a dawn

On a day without end;

Peace is the end, like death

Of the war.

Moonchild by King Crimson

Call her moonchild

Dancing in the shallows of a river

Lovely moonchild

Dreaming in the shadow

of the willow.

Talking to the trees of the

cobweb strange

Sleeping on the steps of a fountain

Waving silver wands to the

night-birds song

Waiting for the sun on the mountain.

She`s a moonchild

Gathering the flowers in a garden.

Lovely moonchild

Drifting on the echoes of the hours.

Sailing on the wind

in a milk white gown

Dropping circle stones on a sun dial

Playing hide and seek

with the ghosts of dawn

Waiting for a smile from a sun child.</pre>

"Shelter From The Storm"

I was in another lifetime one of toil and blood

When blackness was a virtue and the road was full of mud

I came in from the wilderness a creature void of form

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

And if I pass this way again you can rest assured

I'll always do my best for her on that I give my word

In a world of steel-eyed death and men who are fighting to be warm

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

Not a word was spoke between us there was little risk involved

Everything up to that point had been left unresolved

Try imagining a place where it's always safe and warm

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

I was burned out from exhaustion buried in the hail

Poisoned in the bushes and blown out on the trail

Hunted like a crocodile ravaged in the corn

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

Suddenly I turned around and she was standing there

With silver bracelets on her wrists and flowers in her hair

She walked up to me so gracefully and took my crown of thorns

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

Now there's a wall between us something there's been lost

I took too much for granted got my signals crossed

Just to think that it all began on a long-forgotten morn

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

Well the deputy walks on hard nails and the preacher rides a mount

But nothing really matters much it's doom alone that counts

And the one-eyed undertaker he blows a futile horn

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

I've heard newborn babies wailing like a mourning dove

And old men with broken teeth stranded without love

Do I understand your question man is it hopeless and forlorn

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

In a little hilltop village they gambled for my clothes

I bargained for salvation and they gave me a lethal dose

I offered up my innocence and got repaid with scorn

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

Well I'm living in a foreign country but I'm bound to cross the line

Beauty walks a razor's edge someday I'll make it mine

If I could only turn back the clock to when God and her were born

"Come in" she said

"I'll give you shelter from the storm".

Now most would say its a mundane love song, but what about the gambling for my clothes, and going back to a time when god and her were born.

And the one eyed undertaker blowing a futile horn.

I never took it as mundane. After all, he is a travelling willbury, fer christs sake.
