In this world, it's not always poosible to maintain high standards of daily worship. The question here was practical & didn't require an avalanche of proselytizing. If Srila Prabhupada actually did that it was for the purpose of preaching and was therefore justified. You can't just pack up your deities every time you want to go on vacation.
