... shrIH ..

Thank you very much. It is very nice of you to have

sent the meaning. I will add it to the audio page

soon.

> Here is the meaning.

> hamsagAmini = who rides on hamsa

==> I think this should be "whose gait is graceful like a

swan's". Please see

/message/1263

> vandAru sujana mandAra dayA sadanE = who has a dayaa

(merciful) face towards those good people who take refuge

(in you)

==> Isn't this similar to the LS vandaaru-jana-vatsalaa ?

It is nice to hear Papanasham Shivan's sanskrit compositions,

as they are not as popular (I think) on the concert stage

as his tamil compositions.

Regards,

Sridhar.

Namaste,

Please check the audio section of ambaa.org for the

composition 'madurAmbA jayati' of Muttusvaami Diikshitar

in the rAgam paraj, sung by Trichur Shri V. Ramachandran.

The audio of this song and many other songs that I will

hopefully add in the future are thanks to Mr.Narayanan

of http://guruguha.tripod.com/

This song is classified according to some as belonging

to the madurAmbA vibhakti series, see, for example,

http://www.sangeetham.com/Dikshitar/miss3.htm

It is not in the commentary of Shri V. Sadagopan.

Shri Ravi or others may wish to clarify this and also

add their insights on the composition (including a

translation)

I have deleted the file for the song AnandeshvarEnA.

Regards,

Sridhar.

Please check the audio section of ambaa.org for the

2 compositions 'mAmava mInAkShI' of mInAkShisuta and

both sung by Madurai Shri Somu. I am very thankful, as

always, to Shri Lakshman Ragde, who sent me the lyrics

for both compositions. The first composition does differ

quite a bit as sung by Shri Somu from the posted lyrics.

I have deleted the file for the song vandAlum varaTTUm.

Namaste,

Please check the audio section of ambaa.org for the

composition 'annapUrNE' of muttusvAmi dIkShitar,

sung by Shri K.V.Narayanaswami. Lyrics and meanings

for the song are from sangeetham.com

Some notes on the composition can be found at the

ambaa.org page at http://www.ambaa.org/kritis/annapurna.htm

Additional notes are welcome. Many references IMHO

deserve a detailed commentary. Some like kAyajAdi

rakShaNa nipuNatarE are very beautiful, and are

echoes of names found in the LS and elsewhere, for

example, see 'natebhyaH jaDabadhiramukhebhyo api..'

in /message/1035

Corrections/comments are welcome.

Regards,

Sridhar.

I am almost certain now as I look at

http://www.ambaa.org/kritis/annapurna.htm

that I wrongly understood and misinterpreted this.

I thought it was reference to "adept at protecting

the 'weak' (or ignorant)". Now I see it means smthg

totally different. I apologize for the error.

Sridhar.
