Dear members,

With Shri Ravi's permission, I have uploaded a real-audio file of

Papanasham Shivan's composition KarunaanidhiyE TaayE to the files

section. This was sung by Smt.Seetha Raajan at the Music Academy in

Dec 1999. I hope to replace it with another file in the next week, and

so on, time permitting.

Lyrics for the song can be found at

/message/2051

Regards,

Sridhar.

If no one sends you a copy, please let me know. I have all

These will be larger in size than the ra files).

Namaste,

I am sorry that I could not attend to this the last week.

Shri Ravi was very kind to create an "audio section"

on ambaa.org where I could add songs. Hereafter, you can

find the songs at http://www.ambaa.org/audio/kritis/

There are currently two songs there.

The first is 'Maata Innum Vaada'. This is a very 'simple

song', but the way it has been rendered by Shri D.K.Jayaraman

is a treat to the ears. (He also does this so well for the

composition 'Nambikettavar Evarayya', which I hope to add

sometime soon !)

The second is the lovely composition 'Marivere Gati Evaramma'

of Shyama Shastri, sung by Shri Voleti Venkateshwarulu.

Regards,

Sridhar

PS : I will no longer be adding files in the "files section"

of .

At this point we have space available and I would request Sridhar to

manage the krti files within 50 MB. That way they can stay for a

longer time. Even when he removes the audio file, he can still retain

the html file containing the text of the kRti. That way some one who

joins the list later will know what files were posted and contact the

admin on how to get it.

Namaste,

Please check the audio section of ambaa.org for the

composition 'nammi vaccina' of tyAgarAjA, one of

the compositions in his "Kovur Pancharatnam" on

the presiding deity Lord Sundareshvara, sung by

Shri Nedanuri Krishnamurthi.

Regards,

Sridhar.

The following information on these compositions is

extracted from sangeetham.com :

"In 1837, Tyagaraja, in response to a Srimukham

from Upanishad Brahmam, a saint of Kanchipuram,

travelled to that city. On the way, he visited

Madras, where his disciple Veena Kuppaiyyar was

a musician. Kuppaiyyar himself was patronised by

Kovvur Sundaresa Mudaliar, who was wealthy Dubash

of the East India Company.

Tyagaraja stayed at the residence of Mudaliar at

41, Bunder Street, Madras. During his stay, he

also visited Kovvur, the home town of the Mudaliar

and composed 5 songs on the deities of the temple

at Kovvur. These are referred to as the Kovvur

Pancharatnam."
