  1.

Try purifiying your body with sattvic herbs and fruits.

When your body is in a more healthy and pure state, then this cannabis smoking will be like poison and not the pleasurable euphoria that one feels when his body is polluted with toxins.

Detoxification will help one lose the craving for cannabis or ganja.

Smoking ganja is only pleasurable to a body that is in tama-guna.

Sattvic diet, yoga, and purifying herbs will help raise the tamasic body out of tamas.

then when you smoke it, it will make you sick and you will hate the effects.

it will be easy to give it up then.

    Oh really?

  2. The ghost, if it is really there, is most likely a person who doesn´t know where to go or is attached to either you or the place itself.

Between incarnations, some people don´t go to the next incarnation immediately, but they linger on due to their attachments. Sometimes related persons hang around to watch over their relatives for many, many years.

I suggest you find a very sensitive person, a medium, who can find out what exactly is going on. Or, you could try to address the "ghost" and explain that you want to be left alone and that its´ place is not here, but in the spiritual world, the Light.

  3. Dandavat pranamas,

When I was in India I saw the scriptural reference. I thought I had it with me, but when I looked through my papers today I couldn´t find it. But the original system was that the persons who had brahminical qualities received upanayana samskara. This is also in harmony with the teachings of the Gita:

samo damas tapah saucam, ksantir arjavam eva ca

    jnanam vijnanam astikyam, brahma-karma svabhava-jam

"Internal and external sense control, austerity, purity, forbearance, straightfrowardness, knowledge, realization, and theism - certainly these are all the natural duties of the brahmana section."

Bhagavad-gita 18.42. Translated by Aksayananda Swami, published by Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math.

Here it clearly says that the brahmanas are those who naturally have those mentioned qualities. If one becomes a brahmana in the hereditary way, why does not the Lord state so?

It is like the people who call themselves Goswamis even though they can´t _control their senses_, it is a type of deviation from the original system.

I will get back you later with above mentioned reference.

    Humbly,

My obeisances unto the ferocious and powerful, the great Visnu, the fiery one, who's faces

are on all sides, the fearful one, Nrsimha, who causes the death of even death

personified, (or who can overcome death)'.

"O my Lord, O transcendental Lion, I offer my obeisances unto You along with Srimati

Laxmi Devi. Sometimes flying in the sky, sometimes moving on foot, Your mane-hairs

    TRANSLATION:

I offer my respectful obeisances unto Lord Nrsimhadeva, the source of all

power. O my Lord who possesses nails and teeth just like thunderbolts,

kindly vanquish our demonlike desires for fruitive activity in this material

world. Please appear in our hearts and drive away our ignorance so that

by Your mercy we may become fearless in the struggle for existence in

    this material world.

  5. Regarding upanayanam. Caste conscious brahmanas who believe that their offspring automatically are brahmanas do not have the proper understanding. If a person has the qualities of a brahmana, then that person is qualified to receive the upanayana samskara. In what family he is born, is irrelevant.

The objection of body conscious brahmanas against the giving of upanayanam to non-brahmana family born persons is simply due to ignorance.
