Good because all you've done is confuse and discourage me, ironically in the name of the spiritual master.

just follow prabhupada if you want! that''s cool.

Prabhpada in true Gaudiya tradition removed all ritual obstacles, allowing people to follow what they could. In fact so does Krsna in the Bhagavad-Gita offer so many alternatives and He is the Spiritual Master of all spiritual masters.

    keep it simple....

  2. yeah but if maharaj just demonstrated the position he wanted the pose to be painted, that doesn't mean he was acting like a dressed up camp gopi sahajiya does it. he probably just said - you should paint her sitting something like this.

life is so short. we will all die very soon.

Now I don't know about the commercial milk though I know for a fact devotees are buying their milk at markets. There is some link between that a cow slaughter.

yeah i know. it's yucky to think about the moo-cows suffering and their calves being taken away and slaughtered. i am a mother for god's sake! but i just thought that if that milk is offered to krishna it might help them...

have you heard of raw milk? www.rawmilk.org

ideally, it would be nice to have your own cow, wouldn't it! there's an old guy who lives in a little stable with his cow in that cobbled arched walkway between radha-damodara down to nityananda vat by the yamuna. that's the life.

Srila B.V. Naryana Maharaja made some observation that the mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu would manifest till the end of kali yuga. I will research for his exact statement and post it for you when I find it.

well, about a third of the way through this lecture:

    http://www.purebhakti.com/articles/sbnm_adwaita_saptami.shtml

    maharaj says:

Ordinarily, at the end of each yuga an incarnation of Bhagavan comes, just as at the end of Treta-yuga Sri Ramacandra came and at the end of Dvarapa-yuga Sri Krsna came. Such a yuga-avatara comes when the disorder in the material world has reached its highest limit. dharma-samsthapanarthaya

    sambhavami yuge yuge

and then he goes on to say that adwaita acharya thought it best if bhagavan came then as things had gotten bad enough. so he did. as mahaprabhu.

so that was 500 years ago. just 4,500 years after the beginning of kali yuga. and we have almost the full 432, 000 years left. what i can't understand is: if bhagavan came already (as mahaprabhu instead of kalki), so why is it still getting worse? and what will happen at the end if kalki doesn't come and vacuum up the mess?

    :namaskar: i love this smilie!

Do you need to be like a Monk to be Krishna conscious

no you don't. you don't have to be like a nun either.

Do I need to be elevated in status to be closer to Krishna

you would be very elevated if you were close to god, but not everyone would be able to see it. like, if someone was close to god and they went into a department store, no-one would really care. but if someone was, say, a filmstar, their elevated status might be more recognisable to those people.

or can I find Krishna as a person with no title??

    krishna is god.

a person with no title could help you find krishna.

  6. Algebra Prayer.

Our Professor, which doth have tenure,

    Feared be thy name.

    Thy sets partition,

    Thy maps commute,

In groups as in vector spaces.

Give us this day our daily notation,

    And forgive us our obtuseness,

As we forgive tutors who canot help us.

Lead us not into Lye rings,

    But deliver us from eigenvalues,

For thine is the logic, the notation, and the accent,

    That confuses us forever.

    Amen.

  7. hare krishnas offer all their food to krishna with prayers and maybe rituals. offering isn't just a prayer of thanks, like saying grace, it means they've cooked for krishna. then they eat the food as if they are eating krishna's left-overs. of course, because he's god, he can eat it and also leave it there for the devotee to eat.

so they only offer what he likes.

one way of deciding whether to offer and partake of milk products might be to think about krishna's compassion upon the poor little calves and their beautiful mothers, -- he might organise a better future incarnationa for them.

the milk from a happy cow in, say, vrindavan, is much nicer than the milk from an industrialised dairy.

no harm in killing vegetables, but perhaps the highest diet might be just fruit, nuts, and ahimsa milk. then you don't have to kill anything. very pure.
