  1. So procrastination while doing work, is that a vaishnava aparada?
  2. But I thought what Living Entity really wanted was unity with God....
  3. This also makes no sense to me. Isn't the other name of God "Dispeller of distress"? Also, why would Bhisma say something like this then? From Vishnu Sahasranama: "Whichever devoted man, getting up early in the morning and purifying himself, repeats this hymn devoted to Vaasudeva, with a mind that is concentrated on Him... That man attains to great fame, leadership among his peers, wealth that is secure and the supreme good unsupassed by anything.... He will be free from all fears and be endowed with great courage and energy and he will be free from diseases. Beauty of form, strength of body and mind, and virtuous character will be natural to him" " Such a person is not caught by anger, binding, jealousy, or any inauspicious event. Such a bhakta becomes a "punyatma" and merges with the Purshottama (i.e. supreme being)" So why would krishna give you wealth in one instance and then take you with Him to Vaikunta , and also say "I will deprive you of all wealth, if you are dear to me" . THis is so confusing.
  4. No that makes no sense at all. Are you saying that pure vaishnava is different from pure devotee? So the purity that krishna talks about in Bhagavad Gita where someone dear to Him has no concept of offense , which purity is that? Is that the purity of a Vaishnava? Or the Purity of Pure devotees at the vaishnava's lotus feet?
  5. Again more confusing statements.... How can krishna get offended? BG:7.12: Know that all states of being — be they of goodness, passion or ignorance — are manifested by My energy. I am, in one sense, everything, but I am independent. I am not under the modes of material nature, for they, on the contrary, are within Me. So when He is above the three modes of material nature, He is not affected by anger or any other things right? They are under His control . ALso ,if everything is under His control , how can anyone offend Him?
  6. See this is the problem again. Is she an object? Or is she a Goddess? According to her names , she is Vasuprada: Granter of wealth. Sarvapadravanivarini: Remover of distress. Narayana Samashrita: The Refuge in Narayana. In that case, are you enjoying laxmi if you surrender to Narayana? Or are you letting Her enjoy your devotion to Narayana? I don't know, but I am sure you can tell me. If she grants you wealth, are you enjoying Her, or Is she enjoying you? If she is Vishnu in a Female form, then she is the one who is enjoying our devotion to Her isn't she?
  7. Again, how can there be a concept of offense if you are a vaishnava. Maybe my question is not clear? I don't know how else to say it though, I will try if you want me to again.
  8. Beggar, you did not answer my question. I am talking about Wealth! , not beautiful women. "Srila Narayana Maharaja: Wealth takes us very far away from Krsna. Nityartidena vittena durlabhenatma-mrtyuna " Laxmi graces someone with wealth and that removes one from krishna's grace? This makes no sense.
  9. If you could be kind enough, please explain this to me as well: what is this whole "offense" theory in Vaishnavism? I never could understand this either. On one hand, krishna says: BG12.15: "He for whom no one is put into difficulty and who is not disturbed by anyone, who is equipoised in happiness and distress, fear and anxiety, is very dear to Me." BG:12.14: One who is not envious but is a kind friend to all living entities, who does not think himself a proprietor and is free from false ego, who is equal in both happiness and distress, who is tolerant, always satisfied, self-controlled, and engaged in devotional service with determination, his mind and intelligence fixed on Me — such a devotee of Mine is very dear to Me. BG: 12.18.19: "One who is equal to friends and enemies, who is equipoised in honor and dishonor, heat and cold, happiness and distress, fame and infamy, who is always free from contaminating association, always silent and satisfied with anything, who doesn't care for any residence, who is fixed in knowledge and who is engaged in devotional service — such a person is very dear to Me." BG: 12.20: Those who follow this imperishable path of devotional service and who completely engage themselves with faith, making Me the supreme goal, are very, very dear to Me. So i am suspecting that krishna doesn't like it when someone offends people who are dear to Him, but according to this, those who are dear to Him never have any problems with anyone, they don't get mad, and they don't get offended when you criticize them or say something bad to them . Then how can you offend those people who cannot be offended? Do you get what I am saying? When such a possibility of offense doesn't even exist, why is there such a thing as "Vaishnava-Aparada" (loosely translated as doing something bad to vaishnava)?
  10. Shakti-Fan: I don't get this at all. Why would Veda say that when Laxmi is money. Isn't Laxmi the wife of Vishnu? Laxmi is supposed to be wealth, right? Isn't it also true that laxmi resides in "Vishnu's heart" ... here is the source of my knowledge : http://indif.com/nri/names/laxminames.asp One of the names in "108 names of laxmi" is that laxmi is the one who resides in vishnu's heart. So logically couldn't it be that wherever krishna would be, there would also be laxmi there? Why would Srila Narayana Maharaja say something like this?
  11. If we are eternally connected to Krishna in a relationship. If it is only a matter of remembering that relationship, why the hell is it so difficult to go back to the spiritual world?
  12. guilty by association, and saved by association. What I don't understand, is how come krishna didn't save the brahmana as he was chanting the vedic mantras. Are the mantras so weak that the brahmana would fall prey to these types of thoughts? I deny it, I think the brahmana was not chanting vedic mantras at all as he was thinking of the prostitute, but prostitute thought of krishna as she was looking at the brahmana do whatever he was doing. So in effect, her mind was raised. So tell me this, was the brahmana her guru in this case?
  13. The real illuminous one is not the ball we call the sun, but the energy that emanates from the sun... same thing with galaxies, when you take galaxies, what is really shining is the energy emanating as electromagnetic radiation. No matter how much we look at our skies, we will just find matter and energy, nothing other than that. Technically, it is the material energy of God. God is the only sun in this universe.
  14. Please continue posting and joining in on the fun.
