Gayatri Mantra Ringtone
By The Editor in Mobile Ringtones
Ringtone of the Gayatri Mantra for mobile phones.
om bhur bhuvah svah tat savitur varenyam bhargo devasya dhimahi dhiyo yo nah prachodayat.
The Gayatri Mantra is a highly revered mantra, based on a Vedic Sanskrit verse from a hymn of the Rigveda (3.62.10), attributed to the rishi (sage) Vishwamitra. The mantra is named for its vedic gayatri meter. As the verse can be interpreted to invoke the deva Savitri, it is often called Savitri. Its recitation is traditionally preceded by "om" and the formula bhur bhuvah svah, known as the mahavyahriti ("great utterance").
The Gayatri Mantra is repeated and cited very widely in vedic literature, and praised in several well-known classical Hindu texts such as Manusmriti, Harivamsa, and the Bhagavad Gita. The mantra is an important part of the upanayanam ceremony for young males in Hinduism, and has long been recited by Brahmin males as part of their daily rituals. Modern Hindu reform movements spread the practice of the mantra to include women and all castes and its use is now very widespread.

Bhakti Shastri Study Course by Atmatattva Das
By The Editor in Audio Lectures on Hinduism in MP3
“Whatever books we have got, it should be studied. Bhakti-shastri means Nectar of Devotion [bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu], Bhagavad-gita, Nectar of Instruction [upadeshamrita], Beyond Death – in this way we select some ten books. That is Bhakti-shastri… So from next year, unless one passes Bhakti-shastri, he cannot be second initiated.” – Srila Prabhupada, January 6, 1976
This lecture series was recorded in Mayapur, 1990.

Shiva Shankara Shambhu Bhajan (MP3)
By The Editor in Bhajans, Kirtans, Mantras and Stotras in MP3
You can download the bhajan Shiva Shankara Shambhu in MP3 format here.
At the highest level, Lord Shiva is regarded as limitless, transcendent, and unchanging. Shiva also has many benevolent and fearsome depictions. In benevolent aspects, he is depicted as an omniscient Yogi who lives an ascetic life on Mount Kailash, as well as a householder with wife Parvati and his two children, Ganesha and Kartikeya, and in fierce aspects, he is often depicted slaying demons. Shiva is also regarded as the patron god of yoga, meditation, and arts.
The main iconographical attributes of Shiva are the third eye on his forehead, the snake Vasuki around his neck, the adorning crescent moon, the holy river Ganga flowing from his matted hair, the trishula as his weapon and the damaru as his musical instrument. Shiva is usually worshiped in the aniconic form of Lingam.

(Note: The following paragraph has got a hidden meaning – this is to say that there is a raft available to cross over all the forces of Nature and to see the God beyond all of them – God himself is the raft – we have to seek His help to see Him. We need to understand that He, indeed is the raft. This paragraph also makes the serious reader wonder on what is the real meaning of the word "water" used throughout this mantra.)
