TRANSLATION AND EXPLANATION OF SRILA JIVA GOSVAMI’S TIKA (BHAVANUVADA) Now that the supremacy of Sri KRSNa has been firmly established on the basis of SAstra and logic, His absorption in His pastimes will be discussed. His pastimes are of two types: aiSvaryamayI pura-lilA (pastimes related to transcendental opulence) and mAdhuryamayi vraja- lilA (the sweet pastimes of Vraja). He performs His aiSvaryamayi - lilA while residing sometimes in MathurA-puri and sometimes in DvArakA. At that time He is called YAdavendra or VRSNIndra. When the pastimes of His infancy, childhood and adolescence take place in Vraja, He is called Vrajendra-nandana or Govinda. In Srimad-BhAgavatam (12.11.25) Sri SUta GosvAmi has said: Sri kRSNa kRSNa-sakha vRSNy-RSabhAvani-dhrug rAjanya-vaMSa-dahanAnapavarga-virya govinda gopa-vanitA-vraja-bhRtya-gIta tirtha-sravaH SravaNa-maNgala pAhi bhRtyAn O KRSNa, O friend of Arjuna, O chief among the descendants of VRSNi, You are the destroyer of those political parties who are disturbing elements on this Earth. Your prowess never deteriorates. You are the proprietor of the transcendental abode, and Your most sacred glories, which are sung by VRndAvana’s cowherd men and women and their servants, bestow all auspiciousness just by being heard. O Lord, please protect Your devotees. In this Sloka, Sri SUta Gosvami has introduced his worshipable deity Sri KRSNa as the friend of Arjuna. This indicates Sri KRSNa’s intense affection for the PANDavas, which renders Him subordinate to them. It is also clear from the sequence of address in this verse that He has even more affection for the YAdavas (VRSNis). Sri KRSNa not only destroyed the kings who were oppressing the Earth, He also protected the PANDavas s and the YAdavas and maintained them in every respect. Sri SUta Gosvami is also saying, “You have still more affection for the VrajavAsis than for the YAdavas, and amongst the residents of Vraja, You have shown the most affection of all for the Vraja damsels. When Your dear devotee Uddhava came to Vraja, he repeatedly offered prayers to the dust of the lotus feet of the gopis.”

OBJECTION 9: Srila Prabhupada and Srila NarayaNa MahArAja have different teachings about the original position of the jéva (the individual soul). REFUTATION 9 part 3 : For further information on this very important subject of the origin of the jiva, one may refer to “Srila PrabhupAda on the Source of the Jiva”, compiled by Srila Gour Govinda SwAmi, where he gives about 100 supportive quotes by Srila Prabhupäda, as well as many by our previous AcAryas. One such quote is the following letter: “In further reference to your question about the form of the spirit soul of the conditioned living entity; there is a spiritual form always, but it develops fully ONLY when the living entity goes back to Vaikuntha. This form develops according to the desire of the living entity. Until this perfectional stage is reached, the form is lying dormant like the form of a tree is lying dormant in the seed.” (Letter to Rupanaga:1969) “The CONCLUSION is that no one falls from the spiritual world, or Vaikuntha planet, for it is the eternal abode.” (Srimad-BhAgavatam 3.16.26) This article is a reply to the paper entitled “ISKCON’s position on Srila NArAyaNa MahArAja” by His Grace Badri-nArAyaNa Prabhu. The following article will examine, one by one, the points made in that paper, in the light of scriptural evidence and the statementsof Srila Prabhupada himself. We have now told in brief about the vani of Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura has also, in a brief form, collected gaura-vani in his Dasa-mula siksa. You should note it very carefully in your heart. Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura wrote down that vani in his Jaiva-dharma, his last and best book. It is an authentic literature, and is the essence of all the Vedas, Upanisads, Bhagavatam, Caitanya-caritamrta, and all the books of our Gosvamis. The essence of all sastra is there in Jaiva-dharma. -

OBJECTION 9: Srila Prabhupada and Srila NarayaNa MahArAja have different teachings about the original position of the jéva (the individual soul). REFUTATION 9: “The mature devotees, who have completely executed Krishna consciousness, are immediately transferred to the universe where Krishna is appearing. In that universe the devotees get their FIRST opportunity to associate with Krishna personally and directly. The training goes on, as we see in vRndävana-lila.” (Krishna Book: Chapter Twenty-eight) “The CONCLUSION is that no one falls from the spiritual world, or Vaikuntha planet, for it is the eternal abode.” (Çrémad-Bhägavatam 3.16.26) This article is a reply to the paper entitled “ISKCON’s position on Srila NArAyaNa MahArAja” by His Grace Badri-nArAyaNa Prabhu. The following article will examine, one by one, the points made in that paper, in the light of scriptural evidence and the statementsof Srila Prabhupada himself. Confidential MEANING of Srila BV Svami Prabupada pranama mantra
anadi replied to anadi's topic in Spiritual Discussions
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati is described in his pranama mantra to be gaura-vani murti. [Namaste gaura-vani sri murtaye dina-tarine.] Murti means embodiment. He is the embodiment of gaura-vani, and Srila Swami Maharaja, your Prabhupada, is in the same line. He is not different from Srila Prabhupada Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. The term 'Prabhupadanuga' is a wrong idea. Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja and Srila Prabhupada Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura are both followers of Srila Rupa Gosvami, and therefore they are rupanuga. Following them, we are all rupanuga. From the same lecture by Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja. -
Sri Narada Rsi received the benediction from Krsna that those who will hear His sweet lila-katha in the places of His pastimes, especially during this Kartika month, will surely attain krsna-prema very soon. We should therefore have confidence; we need never become hopeless. We should know that by performing all these simple activities – offering a ghee lamp every day, attending mangal-arati, performing kirtana, singing Sri Damodarastakam, doing parikrama, offering maha-prasada, observing Annukuta Mahotsava, hearing hari-katha in all the lila-sthalis (pastime places), there is no doubt about success. It is only a question of time, and that time will not be very long. We will attain Krsna-prema and thus serve Radha-Krsna Yugala. From the same lecture by Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja

Krishna descended on this earth. Why? First to bestow mercy upon His devotees. How? Not through his superhuman activities but through his human like pastimes (naravat lila) TRANSLATION AND EXPLANATION OF SRILA JIVA GOSVAMI’S TIKA (BHAVANUVADA) Sri Sukadeva GosvAmI has remarked: kRSNam enam avehi tvam AtmAnam akhilAtmanAm jagad-dhitAya so ’py atra dehéi vAbhAti mAyayA Srimad-Bhägavatam (10.14.55) O King, you should understand that Sri KRSNa is Parabrahma and ParamAtmA, the soul of all living entities. He has mercifully descended for the benefit of the whole world in such a way that He appears to be an ordinary person with a physical human body that can be perceived by the senses of the living entities. Although His pastimes resemble those of a common person, He is not an ordinary human being. The human-like activities performed by BhagavAn during His manifest pastimes in this world are called mAdhurya mayi-lilA, meaning that these pastimes are full of sweetness. His pastimes are manifested in this world only out of compassion for the living entities. In this Srimad-Bhägavatam verse, the word mAyA means “mercy.”

" Srimati Radharani's earrings represent the name, fame and qualities of Lord Krsna. The glories of Lord Krsna's name, fame and qualities are always inundating Her speech." Which rogue should stop us praising Radha? Which rogue should stop us praising Krishna? Maybe some disguised danavas?

OBJECTION 9: Srila Prabhupada and Srila NarayaNa MahArAja have different teachings about the original position of the jéva (the individual soul). REFUTATION 9: Srila Prabhupada has given many different comments to different people in different circumstances in regard to the origin of the jiva. Let us see what he writes : “According to ViSNu Purana, Bhagavad-gItA and all other Vedic literatures, the living entities are generated from the taSasthA energy of the Lord, and thus they are always the energy of the Lord and are not the energetic.” (Srimad-BhAgavatam 3.7.9) “The CONCLUSION is that no one falls from the spiritual world, or Vaikuntha planet, for it is the eternal abode.” (Srimad-BhAgavatam 3.16.26) This article is a reply to the paper entitled “ISKCON’s position on Srila NArAyaNa MahArAja” by His Grace Badri-nArAyaNa Prabhu. What do gaudya VaiSnavas know about PuruSa and PrakRti
anadi replied to anadi's topic in Spiritual Discussions
VrajanAtha: Are literatures such as the Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam not counted as pramANa? BäbAjI: The Bhagavad Gita is called an UpaniSad (GItA UpaniSad), because it is the vANI (instructions) of BhagavAn; hence, the GItA is Veda. Similarly, DaSa-mUla-tattva is also bhagavat-vANI because it is Sri Caitanya Mahäprabhu’s instructions, so it is also Veda. Srimad-Bhägavatam is the crest-jewel of all the pramANas because it is the compilation of the essence of the meaning of the Vedas. The instructions of different SAstras are authoritative evidence only as long as they follow the Vedic knowledge. There are three types of tantra-SAstras: sAttvika, rAjasika and tAmasika. Of these, the PaNcarAtra and so on are in the sAttvika group, and they are accepted as evidence because they expand the confidential meaning of the Veda. Source Jaiva Dharma, Chapter PramAna and the commencement of prameya -
VrajanAtha: In the first Sloka of DaSa-mUla, the Vedas are accepted as the sole evidence (pramANa); whereas the other pramANas, such as pratyakSa (direct perception), are accepted as evidence only when they follow the Vedas. However, philosophies such as nyAya and sANkhya have accepted further types of evidence. Well-versed readers of the PurANas have accepted eight types of pramANa: pratyakSa (direct perception), anumAna (inference based on generalized experience), upamAna (analogy), Sabda (revealed knowledge), aitihya (traditional instruction), arthApatti (inference from circumstances), sambhava (speculation), and anupalabdhi (understanding something by its non-perception). Why are there so many opinions regarding pramANa? And if direct perception and inference based on experience are not counted among the perfect pramANas, how is it possible to get real understanding? Kindly enlighten me. BAbAjI: PratyakSa and other types of evidence depend on the senses, but since the senses of the conditioned jIva are always subject to bhrama (illusion), pramAda (error), vipralipsA (cheating), and karaANpATava (imperfection of the senses), how can the knowledge acquired through the senses be factual and faultless? The fully independent possessor of all potencies, Sri Bhagavän Himself, personally manifested as perfect Vedic knowledge within the pure hearts of great mahaRSis and saintly AcAryas who were situated in full samAdhi. Therefore, the Vedas, which are the embodiment of svataH-siddha-jnana (self-manifest, pure knowledge) are always faultless and fully dependable as evidence. Srimati Radharani's bedstead is pride itself, and it is situated in the abode of Her bodily aroma. She is always seated there thinking of Krsna's association.

TRANSLATION AND EXPLANATION OF SRILA JIVA GOSVAMI’S TIKA (BHAVANUVADA) Sri KRSNa is also the original form of bliss (Ananda-svarUpa). The purport of Ananda-svarUpa is “sarvatobhAvena nirupAdhika parama-premAspada – He is in every respect the supreme abode of prema, without any material designations.” It is stated in Srimad-BhAgavatam (10.14.49) that after MahArAja ParikSit heard BrahmAjI’s prayers, he inquired from Sri Sukadeva GosvAmI: “brahman parodbhave kRSNe – O brAhmaNa, how is it that the residents of Vraja had such prema for Sri KRSNa, which they did not possess even for their own sons?” Sri Sukadeva GosvAmI replied, “O King, every living entity only holds his own self (AtmA) dear. Besides one’s self, all other objects of affection such as sons and wealth are dear in a secondary way, not directly, and only because of fondness for the AtmA. Living entities who have accepted a material body have more attachment for their own selves than for their sons, wealth, house and other paraphernalia. Therefore, all living beings are most attached to their own selves. In this world of moving and non-moving entities, any sense of happiness is due to the AtmA . The conclusion is that one should understand Sri KRSNa to be the original Self (AtmA -svarUpa) of all living entities. He mercifully appears in this world for the benefit of all. The entire universe is the external form of Sri KRSNa; in other words Sri KRSNa is the root cause of everything. Thus there is nothing that is not related to Him.” Sri Vasudeva has described his own realization of this: vidito ’si bhavAn sAkSAd ISvaraH prakIRteH paraH kevalAnubhavAnandasvarUpaH sarva-buddhi-dRk Srimad-BhAgavatam (10.3.13) O Prabhu, You are the Supreme Controller beyond the material nature, and You are that Supreme Personality who enters within everything. You are the original form of pure knowledge, and You are directly the Supreme Godhead, BhagavAn. It is also said in the Sruti: “AnandaH brahmaNo rUpam –Ananda is the form of Brahman.” Therefore, on the basis of all the evidence compiled from Sruti, it is established that Sri KRSNa is the form of eternity, knowledge and bliss (sac-cid-Anandavigraha). One should understand that Sri KRSNa’s form is His very self, and Sri KRSNa’s self is His form; vigraha is AtmA and AtmA is vigraha. This is the conclusion of all scripture. Bhagavän Sri KRSNa is His eternal, original form, so the idea that He is materially embodied like the conditioned souls, or that He has accepted a material form from the illusory energy (mAyA), is totally erroneous.

In this month Krsna and Balarama performed the upanaya sanskara (sacred thread ceremony). Because they had been brought up in Vraja, they have the mood that, "I am a cowherd boy and Mother Yasoda and Nanda Baba are My parents." However, Vasudeva and Devaki think, "We are the real parents of Krsna. It is part of the Vedic tradition that parents arrange for the upanaya sanskara, of their child, so if we arrange this function for Krsna, the impression will come in his heart that, "Vasudeva and Devaki are My parents." They tried to do this, but they failed. Krsna had already received the Radha mantra from Bhaguri Rsi. He received this mantra when He was in Vraja, but at that time He had no upanaya sanskara. His upanaya sanskara was performed in Mathura according to the duties of ksatryas. Gargacarya gave Krsna the brahma-gayatri mantra, and when Krsna heard this mantra He fainted. Why? Radhika is the predominating deity of gayatri. Then, after His fire yajna, Krsna was looking for his mother and called out, "O Mother, where are you?" Devaki was standing near Him, but Krsna did not approach her; He was looking for Mother Yasoda. In this way, although the Mathuravasis made the plan to give Krsna the sanskana that He is the son of Vasudeva and Devaki, it failed. This pastime took place in this month. Confidential MEANING of Srila BV Svami Prabupada pranama mantra

After our Srila Rupa Gosvami, Srila Jiva Gosvami, and Srila Raghunatha dasa Gosvami came, Srila Narottama dasa Thakura, Srila Syamananda prabhu came, and after that Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura, Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana, Srila Jagannatha dasa Babaji Maharaja, Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Srila Prabhupada Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, and then our Gurudeva and so many associates of Srila Prabhupada. One of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura's hands was Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja, who came to the western countries, and in a couple of years preached everywhere. We should try to know his glories. Gaura-vani has so much deep meaning, but the meaning is very hidden. Don't think there is no reason for the word 'gaura-vani.' From the same lecture by Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja. -
OBJECTION 8: Srila PrabhupAda worked to create a worldwide society that provided engagement and shelter for his followers. Srila NArAyaNa MahArAja has not done so. REFUTATION 8 Besides this, Srila Maharaja never claimed to have established a worldwide institution. He is only trying to execute Srila BV Svami Prabhupada’s order to him. Just before his departure, Srila BV Svami Prabhupada requested him to help and guide his disciples. Thousands of devotees – who had previously lost some of their faith in Kåñëa consciousness, devotees who felt neglected and were forced to leave the temples, devotees who became weak in their following of the religious principles, and devotees who wanted to deepen their relation with Srila BV Svami Prabhupada – are all becoming re-inspired by his love and his teachings. This article is a reply to the paper entitled “ISKCON’s position on Srila NArAyaNa MahArAja” by His Grace Badri-nArAyaNa Prabhu. The following article will examine, one by one, the points made in that paper, in the light of scriptural evidence and the statementsof Srila Prabhupada himself. Statements of the ISKCON position paper will be refered to as OBJECTION, and ours as REFUTATION.

TRANSLATION AND EXPLANATION OF SRILA JIVA GOSVAMI’S TIKA (BHAVANUVADA) In the GopAla-tApani UpaniSad (1.24), it is stated: yo brahmANaM vidadhAti pUrvaM yo brahma-vidyAM tasmai gA pAlayati sma kRSNaH tAM hi devam Atma-vRtti-prakASaM mumukSur vai SaraNam amuM vrajet In the beginning of creation ParameSvara first manifested BrahmA, and then, in the forms of Matsya, HayagrIva and other incarnations, He delivered the Vedas from sinking into the ocean of devastation. He gave instructions to BrahmA on spiritual science. He is the supreme worshipable deity, and He is self-manifest in His eternal form as SrI KRSNa . All devotees take shelter of Him. In the Sruti it is stated: “na cakzuzA paSyati rUpam asya – it is not possible to see Him with these material eyes.” Katha UpaniSad (1.2.23) states: “yam evaiSa vRNute tena labhyas tasyaiza AtmA vivRNute tanuM svAm – He manifests Himself in the hearts of those who are surrendered to Him.” The self-manifested original form of the Supreme Personality is Svayam Bhagavan SrI KRSNa. He is therefore called the form of knowledge, which means that He is self-manifest.

Moreover: aslisya va padaratam pinastu mam adarsanän marma-hatam karotu va yatha tatha va vidadhatu lampato mat-prana-nathas tu sa eva naparah "Lord Krsna, who is the lover of many devotees (women), may embrace this fully surrendered maidservant or may trample me with His feet. Or, He may render me brokenhearted by not being present before me for a long duration of time. Still, He is nothing less than the absolute lord of my heart." The transcendental emotions revealed in this verse cannot be found in this world. This is only found in Goloka Vrndavana-dhama. We should pray that a day will come that we can serve under the guidance of the gopis, especially being the maidservant of Srimati Radhika, under the guidance of Lalita, Visakha, and Rupa-manjari. This is gaura-vani. Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja preached this, but in the beginning he had to cut so many jungles of mayavada, nirvesesa, and sahajiya philosophies. He saw that in order to make the land of the world fertile, it would take a long time. He therefore put all these truths in his transcendental literatures. He thought that if any of his disciples would be qualified to go deep into those truths, all this vani would be taught there. He wanted to preach it also, but it was rare to find a student who could go so deep. Most of his students could not follow him, and that is why so many fell down even from sannyasa. They made many offenses to him, and they are now burning in hell. You should know all this vani, and be very strong in preaching and in glorifying your Prabhupada. Gaura-vani-pracarine. Krsna has sent him for this. From the same lecture by Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja. -
OBJECTION 8: Srila PrabhupAda worked to create a worldwide society that provided engagement and shelter for his followers. Srila NArAyaNa MahArAja has not done so. REFUTATION 8: Most devotees are not informed about the preaching activities of Srila NArAyaNa MahArAja. Although he has only preached outside of India for seven years, he has established many temples and preaching centers in places such as Birmingham, England; Berlin, Germany; Murwillumbah, Australia; San Paulo, Brazil; PrabhupAda GauDyIa Math in Costa Rica; BhaktivedAnta Gauòéya Math in Moscow, Russia; St Petersburg, Russia; Croatia; Sri Ananta GauDIya MaTha in Bali, Indonesia; Sri Sri RAdhA Govinda GauDiya Math in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Hare KRSNa Society of the Philippines; Sri RAdhA-Govinda GauDiya Matha in Venice Beach, California; and other places. In addition to this, there are gRhastha communities in Wales, U.K.; Badger, California; Perth and Murwillumbah, Australia; and so on. Srila NArAyaNa MahArAja is also the patron of a gurukula in California. This article is a reply to the paper entitled “ISKCON’s position on Srila NArAyaNa MahArAja” by His Grace Badri-nArAyaNa Prabhu.
