  1. I hadnt heard this before, of arjuna and the king of mercy and the king of terror, so i looked in the Gita for something along these lines:

For him who has conquered the mind, the

mind is the best of friends; but for one

who has failed to do so, his mind will

    remain the greatest enemy. 6.6

  2. In that post, I pondered the meaning of the sacredness of cows to Krsna . . .if cows are sacred to Him, would he want us to make use of their products of suffering, thus perpetuating it further? Maybe they are sacred to Krsna because in case of a bad year of crops or something like that, cows' milk can keep humans from starving to death, and from having to resort to meat-eating. But I think it was only meant to be used in this type of emergency.

  3. not sure if this one is appropriate, feel free to delete it . . .

i am time and you are space the goddess waits

in the dawn of blood, in the Age of Gas & Blood.

the muder of emotion doesn't suit me

it makes a crone of youth

giving reign to the Hand of stench-stiff Death.

    she wears her vulnerable nature like a crown;

to fall in love with a God is easy

but to learn to love him back is more like

a trip to the dentist every day

or being put on the racks for good, i would,

    like a monkey in a cage;

    enduring offerings of leather incense,

reminding me of the prayers of the animals.

my thoughts are not my own, and neither

are my tears. the rain isnt mine, cant you see the source of fear?

daddy, i dont want to be human anymore.

i could live like that, i could turn myself to stone, and, heart made of stone, flesh

made more solid still--is that your wish,

my sweet? to be a statue next to you,

our love carved out more eternal,

carved out in stone with us inside . . .

if only the carver had carved at least

    our fingers touching.

i always like the way my eyes look after crying, more honest, sometimes,

because i cant walk when i feel,

    i have to lie or die . . . i eat portkins and turnips and daffodil-ears . . .

  4. (The following is a 'mind'-journey):

Has anyone else seen the transformation of soul that happens as a person re-incarnates, I saw something (in my mind, kind of) that explained how a person could go from being human to being, say, an insect. It totally validated the possibility of reincarnation from human to animal for me; I was unsure how a human, with all a human's wisdom and range of experiences, could then become a mouse or a cat or a flea. Is this a common experience among devotees, to see this? It would further validate it for me if someone else has also had this experience.

Him not walking away. (or running away)

Just add Krishna, just recall the love between Radha and Krishna and it's a 'bonefide' love song.

oh, so i'm not crazy after all. all the songs on the radio seem to have the same author. i thought it was just my intense longing to hear the voice of the one i love playing tricks on my mind.

  7. Also, there is this idea of something called 'other planes' . . .is this something anyone here considers valid or is familiar with, and is it mentioned in any vedic texts, etc? I guess probably the material vs spiritual plane, are there more that anyone here is familiar with? i would like some guidance in this area if anyone has any to offer.

  8. (from an earlier post in this thread)

    Krsna:

"My heart resides with my devotees, My life with Radha."

Because she wants more than anything to figure him out, which of course can NOT be done in only ONE lifetime!!! She wants to solve the riddle of the mind of God. And she'll never rest until she does.

( I know, kind of off topic, but I saw this here and wanted to respond to it.)

  9. It's something I discovered on my own (about palmarosa). I was dissatisfied with the idea that so many essential oils are grouped together as having the same purpose; this seems counterintuitive to me. My dad has had aromatherapy as a hobby for about 15 years, so he has collected a lot of the oils over that time. Each oil does have its own purpose, I'm working on a book about it . . .

  10. a 3rd:

    i ride the ships

of the waves of your song

    here in the universe

    i hear the drips

of your tears as they're falling

    forming oceans of new worlds

    i remember your lips

    so silent, remembering

    every word

i dont have a rhyme in my head

    nor reason, going beyond

    this moment

    the universe rises and rises

    falling back into me

i could ride the waves awhile

    desire anchors me here

    i only glimpse the heavens

    because you are here

  11. here's a 2nd:

    you hide in

    the light

    i in the dark

    cleaving to each other

    as day to night

    sweat and tears

    enduring all the years

    fears

    and even as death nears

    soil lays fallow

    each to its season

    i love you the same

    by any name

    as mercury to mars are

    portals of earth and soul

    i seek reflection

    in a wish

for a bird to fly, a fish to swim

    and me to love you

    like wind from a hurricane

    felt miles away
