  1. Dear Karthik prabhu, I think you might be knowing this that there are different kind of muktis: Salokya - Living in the same place with Krishna Sarupya - Having the same appearance as Krishna's Samipya - Being near Krishna always Sarsti - Having opulences similar to Krishna's Sayujya - Becoming one with Krishna ... And for devotees of Lord becoming one with him is suicidal. Why does Krishna say? Brahma bhuta prasanna atma, na socati na kanksati. Samah sarvesu bhutesu, mad bhakti labhate param Note the word param with bhakti. Does'nt this clearly indicate that devotion is even higher then the Brahman realisation? And that uninterrupted devotion starts from the stage of Brahman realisation? What does Sankaracharya say about this verse? What's his interpretation?
  2. Jai Sri Krishna Theist, Does'nt this come from the fact of spiritual vareigatedness? An advaitin would say that only soul will exist and everything else will vanish. But we know from our beloved bhakta mahajan Narad Ji that hrsikena hrsikesa sevanam bhaktir uchyate that means that the senses are always existing but when used for the satisfaction of Madan Mohan it gets purified and then it becomes spiritual. Any thoughts?
  3. Dear Theist prabhu, Hare Krishna! We don't say that brain has no involvement. But we ask the question that why does the brain does'nt function when a person dies? What is the power which is making the brain work? We try to bring the point of discussion to the conciousness which is the property/characteristic of the soul!!! As far as I've read from the scriptural books the little knowledge that I have tells that memory etc is the function of the mind and mind is not consciousness. As Krishna said Bhumir apo nala vayur, kham manah buddhir eva cha, ahankaram itiyam me bhinna prkrtir ashtada. "So Earth, water, fire, air and ether (which our body is made of) and then the mind, intelligence and false ego. They are the separated material energy of Krishna! Therefore the process of memory which is the function of mind/intelligence is material. And then He says: Apareyam itas tv anyam, viddhi prakrti me param, Jiva bhuta mahaabaho, yayedam dharyate jagat. So here Krishna says that there is a superior prakrti as well which is running this world and that is the soul. So Krishna has distinguished the two. So I think that the more spiritual we become we have less material thoughts. That is, the mind is still there, but it is becoming purified As Narada Ji said " tat paratvena nirmalam " i.e., the mind and thoughts are getting purified. If the person who is advanced in spirtual thoughts can forget all material thoughts remaining in this world itself then how can he remember that in the spiritual world when he is serving Krishna personally? Krishna has given me a good idea to prove the subtleness of human memory.Consider for example if we want to increase the memory of the computer which is a material object with no consciousness, we have to insert extra RAM blocks into it. If we thought that memory is the same for human beings then we also will have to put an extra block in our head to increase our memory, which is not the case. But contrary to this, We can increase our memory by increasing our concentration, which in turn comes from the consciouness!!! Hence proved that memory is subtle Apologies for the length of this posting and also if I've said something wrong here which is not in the shastras! Let Krishna help us all in reaching Him!
  4. OK! We can agree with her about DNA and inheritance etc. It's not illogical. But, the question is 1. Why a certain individual is chosen to inherit a rich person and another individual is chosen to inherit a poor person? 2. Why a certain individual is born handicapped and another individual is born with some great ability? So, here we can see the influence of Karma. So, DNA also has a part to play, but the DNA effects come on the basis of the previous karma of the person! Even if we assume that this is the cause of child prodigies. But who has made the DNA's in the first place? Can a human being make DNA and integrate it to a person? May be! But, first of all why the person was born in that family? So we can conclude that Karma plays a more important role and that in fact determines what DNA a person is going to have in his next life... Do you agree prabhus???
  5. Svabhavika jnana bala kriya means that the memory and evrything else is functioning because of Krishna's natural (self originating)knowledge strength and work I mean to say that instead of going into the biological details of how memory works and all, it's better if we analyse about mind (philosophically) and then glorify Krishna for creating it!!!
  6. Hi Shvu, A humble suggestion to you. Please develop the submissive attitude in understanding the religious concepts, especially the lilas or the pastimes of Bhagavaan. Otherwise you will always be away from the most wonderful experience and the aim of human life that is the <u>prema for Krishna</u>. Krishna said in Bhagavad Gita "Naham prakaasha sarvasya, yoga-maaya samvrutah, Mudhoyam nabhijaanaati, maamebhya param avyayam" So he has called the person who does'nt understand his superior position as fool. And why the person cannot understand His superior position? The reason is that person is fully under the control of the material energy. Also applying too much logic can not be of any help. Can you use this same logic with which you've condemned the lilas of Bhagavaan and save yourself from your death? Sorry, if I am a bit harsh here. Forgive me if I've hurt you! I pray that Krishna give you the intelligence to understand Him and surrender on to Him!!!
  7. Dear Theist prabhu, I fully agree with your view. After all Krishna said " Sarvasya chaaham hrdi sannivishtam" and here sarvasya includes everyone in this world. To recognize and respect everyone" Pandita sama darshinah " is one of the most important qualities for being recognized by Krishna. Is'nt it???
  8. One point I've noticed here is that one of the most significant impetus for spiritual development is to feel sad to see the sorrow of others and to ponder on it? Why is it happening? It's called Para-duhkha-duhkhi What do the enlightened souls here think?
  9. Above Insignificant attempt to answer by the aspiring servant of the servant of the servant .... of Krishna.
  10. Is it not enough to appreciate and wonder at Krishna's "svabhavika jnana bala kriya!" and leave the matter to rest?
  11. Spiritual Life is smaranam of Krishna with his friends and paraphernalia, as much as possible!
  12. This is a very nice statement. Only a wise can understand another wise. That is to say that only a person who has enjoyed some little bhakti can appreciate the presence of another bhakta. Otherwise it's not possible. There's a saying in Hindi "bandar kya jaane adrakh ka swaad" meaning that "how can monkey know the taste of ginger". So, that applies to the people who are averse to bhakti and bhaktas!
  13. Hi Leyh, The nectarean inputs about Srila Prabhpada that you have given here is simply superb! May the divine grace of Srila Prabhupada and Sri Krishna be always with you!

  15. Dear Vaishnavas, Had a query in my mind. Thought of getting the view of the great devotees here. Question is: Do the gross materialistic people usually neglect the spiritual people? Has anyone found that the more spiritual a person is becoming the more he is neglected by the people with gross materialistic mentality? If that's the case, Could the reason be that their levels of thoughts are not matching at all? Any thoughts on these matters with some scriptural reference, as well, will be appreciated...
  16. I think initially the part of Puranas which appeals to the mind and which to a certain extent also appeals to the intellect should be contemplated on... Though there might be some exaggeration of facts, but the truth is they are FACTS, as Raga pointed about candraloka, which cannot be seen in it's full splendour by the human eye (mundane senses!) - It's REALLY GOOD example!
