  1. Such good company is a rare thing to find Kula. So close but so far...

I would love to see Theist under the shelter of people like you suggest and and have seen practically. I guess we all yearn for that. I appreciate Theist's constant yearning, coz I feel the same. Maybe to find the treasure of good company will take some time.

Infact Kula, Theist is a much more faithful Gaudiya than me...and that faith I admire deeply. And his faith will surely bring the reward in due course...one thousand fold.

Teilhard views evolution as a process that leads to increasing complexity. From the cell to the thinking animal, a process of psychical concentration leads to greater consciousness.[2] The emergence of Homo sapiens marked the beginning of a new age. Reflection, the power acquired by consciousness to turn in upon itself, raises humankind to a new sphere.[3] Borrowing Julian Huxley’s expression, Teilhard describes humankind as evolution becoming conscious of itself.[4]

Eventually, trade and the transmission of ideas increased. Traditions became organized and a collective memory was developed.[5] Knowledge accumulated and was transmitted down the ages.[6] This led to a further augmentation of consciousness and to the emergence of a thinking layer that enveloped the earth.[7] Teilhard called the new layer the “noosphere” (from the Greek “nous,” meaning mind). Evolution is therefore constructing Mind; in collective psychic unison .[8]

The development of science and technology caused an expansion of the human sphere of influence, allowing a person to be simultaneously present in every corner of the world. Humanity has thus become cosmopolitan, stretching a single organized membrane over the Earth.[9] Teilhard described this process as a “gigantic psychobiological operation, a sort of mega-synthesis, the “super-arrangement” to which all the thinking elements of the earth find themselves today individually and collectively subject.”[10] The rapid expansion of the noosphere requires a new domain of psychical expansion, which “is staring us in the face if we would only raise our heads to look at it.”[11]

In Teilhard’s view, evolution will culminate in the Omega Point, a sort of supreme consciousness. Layers of consciousness will converge in Omega, fusing and consuming them in itself.[12] The concentration of a conscious universe would reassemble in itself all consciousnesses as well as all the conscious.[13] Teilhard emphasized that each particular consciousness would remain conscious of itself at the end of the operation.[14]

Primate you may like to read 'Phenomenon of Man' book oneday...its a scientific/spiritual classic and thesis similar to the evolution you are pointing to in your discussions.

And dont worry Sonic the author is not a burger eating bafoon no good loser as you suggest scientists be;)...he is a personalist to the utmost degree in thinking.

In the whole post of your's you have poured venom on me and wished to deport me without giving a single reason.

Because in this age Chandu we need thoughtful speech on these subjects. Not religion versus religion mentality. Things are gonna get rough in this world mate...and we need to apply intelligence to the best of our god-given grace. You love life? Then speak words of life...

I have considered after reading your posts for some months now...to give you a flame. A dose. Feels not so good hey...and believe me Chandu it feels worse this end giving you the flame. Also I wish to take a wee bit of your karma... And I will come back next life too;).

Not very swanlike is it;) .

Now from the words of a swan:

...The different forms of these spiritual activities create divisions of sectarianism. Differences that arise from places, times, languages, behaviors, foods, dresses, and natures of various communities are incorporated within people's spiritual practices and gradually make one community so completely different from another community that even the consideration that everyone is a human being may cease to exist. Due to these differences there is disagreement, cessation of social intercourse, and fighting, even up to the point of killing one another. When an ass-like mentality becomes prominent within the kanishta-adhikaris, they certainly indulge in these things. But if they develop a swanlike mentality, then they do not take part in quarrels; rather, they endeavor to attain a higher level...

    Simple really...its your play Chandu...

Seven men have been sentenced for terror-related offences in Melbourne (AAP)

Abdul Nacer Benbrika of Melbourne has been sentenced to 15 years on terrorism charges.

<!--- Image Article large--> <!--- Text Only --> <!---------- End conditions ----------> Add your comment

Benbrika, 48, was sentenced on three charges, receiving 15 years for intentionally directing the activities of a terrorist organisation.

he was sentenced to seven years for intentionally being a member of a terrorist organisation and five years for possessing a CD connected with the preparation of a terrorist act.

He will serve the terms concurrently.

    Jail for followers

Six of Benbrika's followers also received prison terms.

Aimen Joud, 24, of Hoppers Crossing, has been jailed for a minimum of seven-and-a-half years prison.

Abdullah Merhi, 23, of Fawkner, must serve a minimum of four years in prison.

Ahmed Raad, 25, Fawkner, will be required to serve a minimum of seven-and-a-half years.

Amer Haddara, 29, of Yarraville, was sentenced to a minimum of four-and-a-half years.

Fadl Sayadi, 29, of Coburg, was sentenced to a minimum of six years prison.

Ezzit Raad, 27, from Preston, must serve five years and nine months.

    'Fanatic'

In a sentencing that lasted more than two hours, Victorian Supreme Court Justice Bernard Bongiorno summed up the roles of each of the men and their personal circumstances.

He said terrorist acts in modern times were carried out by unskilled fanatics like Benbrika.

Benbrika, a father of seven, had not renounced his beliefs, Justice Bongiorno said.

"All the evidence points to the conclusion that he maintains his position with respect to violent jihad."

Justice Bongiorno said there was a need to protect society from criminals like Benbrika.

He said the men considered violent jihad an integral part of their religious obligations.

Justice Bongiorno said the group often referred to themselves as Mujahideen and talked about destroying buildings and killing infidels.

Benbrika and his followers were found guilty in September 2008 after a trial that lasted eight months.

Joud, who was regarded as the heir apparent to Benbrika, had showed an impatience that the group was not progressing in its aim of jihad more quickly.

"In performing the function as he did within the group, Joud undoubtedly took a leadership role," Justice Bongiorno said.

    'Violent jihad'

"There is no evidence before the court that he has abandoned his belief in violent jihad ... there is no evidence at all that he has resiled from being a would-be terrorist."

"Joud is still young and is entitled to have his youth taken into account in fixing sentences in this case."

Justice Bongiorno said the evidence of a plot to blow up the MCG would not be taken into account because the man who gave the evidence could not be believed.

He said Izzydeen Atik, who gave the evidence, was a liar and a fraudster of significant accomplishment.

"It is unlikely the jury accepted him as a witness of truth and indeed the court will not," Justice Bongiorno said.

"Had Atik's evidence on the proposed targets been accepted their criminality would have been significantly greater.

"It is not to say that their criminality is to be regarded as trivial."

  6. Well I should keep my nose out of it. Your country, your dream, your future....your children.

I will call a spade a spade... the dislike you have for muslims is evident in your posts throughout this forum. And the current course of your mindset will reach no reconcilliation with your neighbours (close and far)...until you take the low road. If not, then join the army...and don't be a wimp:smash:.

Infact I think your attitude is not much different than that which you criticize... We look in a mirror mostly and condemn that which is deep in our unconscious that has not been intergrated.

    cheers

But anyway, science and technology, while has made vast contributions to society, is eventually going to crumble. by kyros

Our bodies will crumble in due course too...but we still care for it and treat it well. Sacred.

Why is science demonized? There is some good science available that holds to a broad vision of consciousness...including the transcendent possibilities.

Is it a perennial truth that science and religion have no harmony? Or will some of these truths be temporary...lets hope so!

Theist, we are talking japa. The Hari Bhakti Vilas extensively deals with this topic. I'm sure you're familiar with it. Look it up. :)

I support your advice though. by narasingh

The Hari Bhakti Vilas has many many rules. It even has one rule suggesting where to take a rest break....x amount of feet away from one's living quarters, and the appropriate method of disposal.

I was only thinking this morning of the first time I stayed in a Hare Krsna temple. The toilets (the rest break area) had the black plastic seats removed. Just the upright seats like in normal western toilets, but the seats removed:confused:.

So I asked a leading devotee how to use this toilet? He said emphatically, ' We do not use toilet seats in this temple!'.

So I had to do the balancing squat on a western toilet, with the seat removed...Indian style:crazy2:. Now I am a big bloke and that was a hard balancing act.

I should have realized then that there was something amiss in the temple group think.

I really wonder what stroke of genius decided that toilet seat removal would aid Krsna consciousness development in the brahmacari ashrama.

Feel freee to follow Hari Bhakti Vilas...but read it and decide if you want to. You life will be a ritual full of codes and laws governing every move you make.

Or, you could decide that some rules are mighty and some lesser...or some relevant and some not...but please....do not remove your toilet seat!

...now the American people are going to experience what it was like to be a Native American.

sounds like a double-sided prophecy. on the good side, maybe the meek will live well.

couple of good friends are still playing the metal...after a rest they are gigging again soon. man, if these boys keep at it they will out do the rolling bones...22 years on now. We were 16 when we first started gigging the pub circuit, now we are middle-aged half grumpy old men:eek4:. but yes ancient..maiden rock. never let a fundie talk you into throwing out art...ever again.

  10.

Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation: the one Christ is the mediator and the way of salvation

Now you must understand the catholic apologist needs to reconcile his one pointed faith in the person Jesus, with the broader cosmic dimension. Therefore all this dialogue and written word.

  11.

Hence they could not be saved who, knowing that the Catholic Church was founded as necessary by God through Christ, would refuse either to enter it or to remain in it.

This is from a non-sectarian view of spirituality where the catholic tradition is as valid as other world traditions. The distinctions and contradictions become harmonised, so that one who is hindu can even see his faith in this Church structure. The whole concept is that the human family is now one church, by realization of the presence of God. This is the crux where many fundamentalists disagree...even within the catholic church.

The in-ability to see the spirit of God in all men and spiritual paths...and rejection of the work of the Holy Spirit is what the above verse is pointing toward.

Now, if that ideal is not held in some countries, it is possible that those countries have other social issues, which are blocking this progression of thought.

This is the liberal catholic view, as far as I understand.

Such thinking scared the heck out of many catholics, who bound by their tradition and belief believed there was 'no' truth beyond there dogma. Such thinking still scares the heck out of many orthodox and fundamentalist thinkers today...what to say of the nationalists:eek4:.

  12.

I am pretty sure it was sustenance and survival. 'akal aw-kal' a primitive root; to eat (literally or figuratively):--X at all, burn up, consume, devour(-er, up), dine, eat(-er, up), feed (with), food, X freely, X in...wise(-deed, plenty), (lay) meat, X quite.

    that really interesting..thx

1:29 — And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food."

See – The Hebrew word is hinneh. It means to ‘behold.’ This is God saying, “Hey! Pay attention! I’m talking to YOU!” Of course, everything God says is important, but when God says “See” or in the KJV “Behold,” He wants us to pay special attention to what He is about to say.

I have given . . . – The Hebrew word is nathan. It means that Adam and Eve were given permission to eat the fruit. God made the fruit for man, and He allowed man to use it for sustenance. Later, King David’s profit would be Nathan (See 2 Samuel 7) Nathan means ‘giver.’

. . . every herb . . . – The Hebrew word is ‘eseb. And it refers to all the plants that are green. It can also mean to ‘glisten’ or ‘be green.’

. . . to you it shall be . . . – The Hebrew word is hayah. It means that this was God’s purpose for creating the fruits and herbs. “. . .it shall be for food.” All of God’s creation has a purpose. Nothing He creates is void of purpose and/or meaning.

The fruit of thinking too much...seems to be a good fruit;). bija is a thinker too.

So there is no prohibition in God's order, only council:

    in...wise(-deed, plenty)

That is why I love this verse, it 'empowers' us to choose and live well.

I am glad Moses broke the first set of tablets with all those rules. But why Moses? Why so many rules...

  13.

Genesis 1:29 God also said, 'Look, to you I give all the seed-bearing plants everywhere on the surface of the earth, and all the trees with seed-bearing fruit; this will be your food. 30 And to all the wild animals, all the birds of heaven and all the living creatures that creep along the ground, I give all the foliage of the plants as their food.' And so it was. posted by catholic

This verse has always caught my attention. I would like to know what the original word for 'food' was. If it was just talking about the belly, or more about sustenance and survival.

Everything is complete within nature for the sustenance of man. But still he seems to have a hard time of it.

There is sufficient plant matter for food. There is plant matter for housing and clothing. There is plant matter (medicine) for physical health. And yes, there is plant matter psycho-spiritual well being (shamanic medicine).

Modern man, in a display of ethno-centric ignorance, has lost that harmony with nature. Content with chemical production. Nylons and other toxins for clothes, junk food wrapped in polymers for food, houses painted in toxins...toxic harmful artificial chemicals used for medicine (and sold at every corner drug store for mass profit)...and for psycho-spiritual well being some even turn to illicit-drugs (due to emptiness and hoplessness).

This type of modern man has fragmented and compartmentalized nature into categories of good and bad, just like his fragmented disconnected self. And as resources run short, as economies rise and fall, and many other symptoms of an organism out of balance...this man claims to be superior in intelligence than his ancestors from the forest.

Modern man has combined east and west. The rational of the west and the internal practice of the east are allies in the development of a healthy man. I would suggest, now such an evolved species, needs to look back to nature...to the way of the forest priest...

East and west have both claimed superior culture, and both traditions have seen the aboriginal as a primitive. I would suggest they have much to learn from an original culture, that has been evident in all parts of the world...that knows what real food and sustenance is!

When the time comes that the great East/West mind can humble itself...then the world will receive its healing.

Huxley suggests that a soma will arise to keep the fragmented mind of man in harmony. This mass produced beast. I would suggest we do not need to go that path...our soma can be mother nature, and our sustenance can be the grace of God.

Let's face it Catholic, man loves his drugs...the drug store is a busy place in most neighbourhoods. Man also loves his poison. And sometimes that poison is even religion.

  14.

But, how is a person a home?

    Back Home is a place.

Why does Prabhupada refer to Godhead as a home?

How about we change it to "Back to Him, Back to Godhead".

yeah, that works for me....... by sonic

If that works for you then good.

I feel though that Srila Prabhupada is trying to share something much more beautiful. Remember a focal point in Gaudiya philosophy is personalism...infact extreme personalism.

So why not home? Why can't that be personalized as well.

Just imagine the total living consciousness, a living spiritual personality - harmonized and loving. And being an intergral part of that home (person).

Try to get your head around it oneday Sonic. Then you will accept why Srila Prabhupada used such terms.

  15.

I am not real sure here, but it sounds to me like God is going to take into account every animal we kill. by catholic

you quoted Romans before...I recall there is similar comments by Paul that says 'mans conscience will condemn him'. Something like that?

A flash of all the things that have hurt other living entities comes at times of great stress for some, even at the point of death. Enlightening...

Some therapies like Iboga-click really bring harm home to the conscience...and transforms the man. I am sure the passover will be of similar healing for the progression of us all...what to say of the innocent animals.
