I have the same problem - I feel torn between worshipping Lord Shiva and Lord Krishna. I am currently watching the Shiv puran and you are rite, it does lead one to believe that Shiva is supreme to whom even Lord Vishnu bows down to. I would like to have this clarified too as my heart is with Krsna but am confused over whether I should be worshipping Shiva if he is the supreme one.

I too have this problem. From a young age I was always a Shiv Devotee and a Krishna Devotee. But I know that Visnu as well has a special spot in his multi-universal heart for his greatest Devotee Lord Sadasiva. Other devotees instructed me to pray to Shiv for Visnu-bhakti through the Hare Krsna maha-mantra.

"Om Hreem Namaha" instead. Prabhu what does Om Hreem Namaha mean in this context?

I'm not sure Prabhu. Prior to my purchase of the Abhay Charan video set I thought Srila Prabhupada was Hindu before Sanyasi Vaisnava.

why cant any one here read what other wright? i didnt say that shiva is satan, i said that suti and shiva are almost the same, and the jews couldnt say suti so later it became satan.. AND in jewish religion, asfar i know, satan arent even in the religion, the "evil ones" name is belial.. please start READING what other wright, then u can answer

I believe we understand that you are not calling Lord Shiv a devil, but it is not right for one to associate a Vaisnava with anything evil.

Rama definitely came first in Treta yuga whereas krishna came much later in late Dwarpa yuga.

 

Oh! I didn't know that. I thought that Krishna came before Rama like the order of the Maha-Mantra. They are all incarnations of Lord Visnu, why do we pray to his re-incarnations instead of just Maha-Visnu?

The Hindu's say that the Maha-Mantra's proper order is:

Hare Rama, Hare Rama//

Rama Rama, Hare Hare//

Hare Krsna, Hare Krsna//

Krsna Krsna, Hare Hare//

Where as we know that Krishna came before Rama so the Maha-Mantra is recited Krishna before Rama. My question is that did Krishna know that Rama was going to be in his Maha Mantra?

There are alot of different stories about why mother kali is standing on lord shiva her consort...but the one I know is that when mother durga became very angry she turned into mother kali to kill 2 demons. After killing them and drinking their blood she began to act out in anger. After hearing from the rest of the demi gods that no one can calm her and controll her lord shiva came. He laid down on the ground and when she saw that she was stepping on her husband she took out her tongue. That image of her is widely known .

Prabhu, In the Shiv-Puran Mother Durga in the form of Sati and Parvati prayed to Lord Shiva. What happened after she realized that she was stepping on the chest of her Lord Shiva?

please read what i wrote.. in the egyptian religion, the god suti ruled, where the jews where held captive, and they think that if the people are bad, it is their gods fault, but the jews couldnt say suti, so it bevame seth, later sethian and shaitan and at the end satan, meening advecery, or accucer, then the christian took the name satan and transformed him to an evil being, with the body of pan in greek mythology.. the jewish religion dont have any devil.. if u start reading about other religions u will find the same thing as everybody else, the god suti is an desert god, and is very alike shiva.. all religons is arrived from the vedic religion according to my siksa guru, and when i told him about this he said, this is true (that all religion is based on the Vedas), so the egyptian form of shiva is suti (seth).. before u accuse me of anything please prabhu, read about amorfism and symbolism and other religions.. and then please read what iv wrote, then post sumthing..

I did not write with the intention of accusing you, I was just speaking generally. Siva is the greatest devotee of Lord Visnu therefore we should not associate him with the Devil.

but from sum devoutees and swamis ive read that "this and that will make u go to hell".. and the word hell is a nordic word.. why not use more correct termonology? its the same with the name satan that christians use, that word come from the egypt go of desert, Seth, and the hebrews couldnt say suti so after sum time with wrong saying it became satan.. and suti (seth) is more like shiva..

Lord Siva isn't Satan, that is the same as saying Lord Visnu is Satan which is completely false.

Siva and Visnu are the same, just in different forms. Siva is the Destroyer ... not the Devil.

According to Srila Prabhupada, what is the best way to attain Visnu-Bhakti?

If Kali is also Mother Durga, then why is she standing on her divine husband's(Lord Shiva) Chest with her tounge out?

Vishnu is not offended by who you pray to. But He is happy when you don't pray for material things, and aim only for unalloyed devotion to Him. If you pray to Shiva for a nice wife, big house, good job, etc., it isn't going to please Vishnu nor Shiva. But if you pray to either of them to develop Hari Bhakti and become free from samsara then you will please both of them.

I never pray to Visnu or Siva for Material Things because Swami Prabhupada established that begging of material things instead of Spiritual Betterment is offensive.

What I am not sure of is if Praying to Lord Siva is also accepted?

If a Devotee of Lord Krsna prays to Lord Siva for spiritual betterment is Krsna also pleased that he is praying pure-hearted to Lord Siva?

Isn't Visnu and Siva one in the same?

If Siva is Pleased when one attains Visnu Bhakti, then isnt Visnu also Pleased when one finds the same love for Siva?
