Hare Krishna,to the first poster: If you want Krishna, worship Krishna exclusively, pay due respect to the other gods but do not worship them. For example: If I want food I don't go to a clothing store. Similarly, if I want Krishna,I worship Krishna and I don't go worshipping Lord Shiva, that would be like a third wheel, it makes no sense unless you have some ulterior motive. If you feel more strongly connected to Sri Ganesh than to Krishna then you cannot expect to worship Krishna properly.
There is a story in the scriptures which tells of a ghost, who, upon hearing the Baghavatam became instantly liberated and promoted to Vaikuntha. Other sages that were present were astonished and asked why the ghost got liberated and taken to Vaikuntha but they were not. The answer was that the ghost had been listening with all his attention and the sages did not. They heard, but they did not really listen.
So you have to fully submit yourself to Krishna if you really want Him. Let go of all this pointless bickering using quotes and counterquotes to try to establish who is the Supreme, that is not Bhakti, that is simply Kali yuga in full effect. You have to be simplehearted. People are so confused nowadays. Only Krishna is full in all 64 opulences, only Krishna can display the topmost rasa, madhurya rasa. His manifestation as Shiva cannot give this, His manifestation as Narayan cannot give this, His manifestation as Vishnu cannot give this. Krishna is the Adi purusham, the Original Person from which everything else emanates. This is the logical conclusion to all scriptures. Surrender fully to Sri Guru and try to follow in his footsteps. Have faith in him and his words and develop one-pointed exlusive devotion. All are not equal in the sense that yoghurt is not equal to milk even though it is essentialy the same product. Krishna is like the point at the center of a circle. Remember, only Krishna can give you Krishna prema.
Haribol!
Prabhuji, it is said that in the abode of Lord Visnu(Krishna)'s heart is Lord Siva [and Vice-versa]. If one prays to Lord Siva does this not boost him to Maha-Visnu through association with the Greatest Vaisnava?

Isn't it impossible for him to die?
Where is he?

^^ Who is the Shiva Gita's author? I'd like to read from it as well.

Dasa Avatara are the 10 famous incarnations of Vishnu. there are countless other incarnations that are not included in this 10, such as Kapila and many others.Sri Chaitanya, being a covered or hidden avatar, would not be in a list of the 10 most famous incarnations.
Oh! This is very suprising to me.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu is worshipped before the chanting of the names of Lord Visnu. He is himself Sri Krsna-Caitanya who spread Vaisnavism and the chanting of the Holy Names. Such a great avatar should be mentioned! Don't you think Prabhu?

I found it strange that they had every other incarnation including Buddha but did not have Caitanya listed.
Why is this?

Oh, I heard that Brahma expanded into Agni to make up for his lie that he found the end to Lord Siva's fire.

Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya
^^ What does this mantra do? How do you pray with it?

Also, their names would be helpful as well.

This is a nice question for curiosity sake; however we should be careful when considering the transcendental standard of the Mahabhagavatas, who are raganuga-bhaktas—beyond the rules and regulations of sadhana-bhakti.premanjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena
santah sadaiva hrdayesu vilokayanti
The eyes of the pure devotees are tinged with the salve of the deepest love, and their hearts are overwhelmed in sthayi-bhava, or continuous ecstatic emotions, which are just like the endless waves of an ocean.
When discussing the chanting of the Holy Name, there are different points to consider. One is the level of the chanting: nama-aparadha, nama-abhasa, and suddha-nama. Another is the level of the bhakta: sadhana, bhava, and prema. There are other points to consider as well, but these are the basic ones.
For a premi-bhakta, there is no consideration of “offence” or “clearing”, his chanting is on the purest level, suddha. He is beyond the level of “practice to make perfect”. He is already on the perfectional platform.
It is just like sugar candy and jaundice. Consuming sugar candy is recommended for one who is infected with jaundice. For him, it is very bitter (the stage of nama-aparadha). However, by eating the sugar candy anyway, the disease gradually disappears (the stage of nama-abhasa). When the disease disappears, and he is in his original healthy condition (suddha-nama), the taste of the sugar candy is sweet once again.
Most will never experience the disease of jaundice. Such persons are compared to the Nitya-siddhas. Srila Prabhupada is in this category and his chanting is always sweet. There is no need for the nitya-siddhas to chant a prescribed
number of rounds. Their service is their chanting and the Holy Name is always dancing on their tongues. We cannot factually count the number of square miles in Vrndavana, nor can we
count the number of “rounds” of such paramahamsas. There is no beginning or end to their chanting.
Not just 16 or 64, but unlimited!

I did not mean to make a great offense as to judge any Vaisnava, much less one of the Greatest Vaisnavas in Srila Prabhupada. I just was curious in how many rounds Srila Prabhupada chanted daily to give him such strength in spreading Krsna Consciousness.

Like how the Vaisnavas have a prayer before chanting the Hare Krsna Mantra?

Generally he spent most of his time writing and translating books.Surely he chanted more than 16 rounds daily, right Prabhu?

It is just a pictoral representation. Why do you ask the question?I asked that question because I have never seen that picture in a Hare Krsna Temple before.

Is that picture accepted by Srila Prabhupada or the Vaisnavas?

Thank you very much Prabhu.
It would be helpful if we could get more information on this topic incase others would seek guidance.

Why would you chant om namah shivaya in front of Gour Nitai?Because Prabhu, I also have a Shiv-linga underneath my mother's Gaura-Nitai that she keeps nicely. I did not know if this was an offense or not, so I asked.

Both are used for God realization.Hare Krsna mantra is called the Mahamantra given by Shri Chaitanya mahaprabhu about 500 years ago. An older form of the mantra where it starts as 'Hare Rama' first is also found in scriptures. It is a good mantra to evoke Lord Krsna's blessings, besides 'Om namo bhagwate Vasudevaya' which was the original mantra given to bhakta Prahlada by sage Narada.
Om Namah Shivaya is the Adi Maha mantra that was practiced originally by Vashishtha Rishi who was also the lineage Guru of Lord Rama. The Panchakshara adi Maha mantra Om Namaha Shivaya was also practiced by Vamandeva, Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama and Lord Krishna. It has been practiced by Rishis, saints and exalted as well as common people in every age and yuga. It is the best way to connect to Lord Shiva and evoke His blessings.
It depends which deity you feel an inner connection to. Then you can practice his mantra. Maybe you can take up an 11 day sadhna of practicing each mantra and record your feelings and dreams that follow. And then you can decide, where you feel the right connection. If you are sincere, you will get the guidance from the Lord.
Om namah Shivaya!!
I'm born underneath Lord Shiva (March 28), and I am raised Hindu doing both Hare Krsna and Om Namah Shivaya at least 20 rounds of each daily.
Is this okay? Or is it an offense?

Does anybody know?

Wow Prabhu! I'd like to be blessed with Hanumanji during worship of Lord Rama. Lord Hanuman is the greatest Devotee of Lord Rama, is there any scriptures written by Hanuman for his fellow Rama Devotees to grow with Love for Lord Ram?
