How can i not have a soul? I am a soul?
guess guest:>>... I'm sure the Indian man did not mean that westerners have no soul literally. We sometimes say such things of mosters like Jeffrey Dohmer, etc.<<
Oh I feel better now. /images/graemlins/wink.gif Just kidding GG, I know what you mean.
The whole east west subject really has no relation to the soul. If anyone is offended then that is due to our false identification with the body.
I can see where it might have to do with the way we have conditioned our minds though. Afterall isn't that what causes us to take birth in a particular race and society.
People take these things sooo seriously. Some years back they did an offical study on the white vs. black penis question in Europe. LOL seriously. turns out the black ones are a little longer and the white ones are a little thicker. LOL I am sure it was paid for by some chump taxpayers who now must feel like they have gained some real knowledge.
But I like Gaurachandra's response. Don't tell me you are a big bhajana man, show me.

Maharaja Nimi to the Yogendras:
"Therefore, O completely sinless ones I ask you to kindly tell me what the supreme good is. Afterall, even a half a moments association with pure devotees within this world of birth and death is a priceless treasure for any man."SB 11.2.20

Paramahaàsa: There’s a verse in the Bhägavatam that says that one moment’s association with a pure devotee is greater than liberation from the material world or than innumerable...
Prabhupäda: Yes.
Paramahaàsa: ...years of enjoyment on heavenly planets.
Prabhupäda: Yes.
Paramahaàsa: My question is: A pure devotee, when he comments Bhagavad-gétä, someone who never sees him physically, but he just comes in contact with his commentary, explanation, is this the same thing?
Prabhupäda: Yes. You can associate with Krsna by reading Bhagavad-gétä. And these saintly persons, they have given their explanations, comments. So where is the difficulty? Everyone is helping you.

and welcome to Guruvani. Thanks for participating and registering prabhu. There is strength in numbers. Also more fun. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

It would be nice if one got the feeling that there was an actual person behind the post. Of course there is but the feeling I get is ine of a copy, paste and run job. No desire to relate as a person to anyone.
Maybe Gospel Defense will want to have a converstaion one day when he gets some more confidence. In general I have noticed that most Christian preachers do not like to listen. It is impossible to relate to a brick wall. Bill (5th wheel) being the refreshing exception.
I think we all have to watch out for this tendancy. I carry it within myself as well. It should be checked however if one really wants to communicate with anyone.

Good works are good. An honest man would not claim to be God
though.
God breaths out and countless universes effortlessly come forth. Its good you see he is not God.
Diamond ring? Maybe but who made the diamond mines?
What were these accusations of pedophilia a few years back?

Bill here is a link which will take you to a section on this web site where you can read the Gita on line. The purports are especially helpful in explaining the verses to us.

All man kind must lay aside their nationalities, their language differences and their religious beliefs: And this includes all religions.
It is important at this time that all who will admit there is a creator, he is the God in heaven, the father of all to ask forgiveness and pray to the father to help us all come into one mind and one spirit in and or with him.
Yes we must lay aside or transcend our false identities which we have acquired in this world. "I am American or Indian", "I speak English or Hindi", "I am Christian or Hindu."
I can very much appreciate what you are saying here. God will protect us, not any religious affiliation. here is a verse from the Bhagavad-gita(18.66) to illustrate that point you make.
Abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender unto Me. I shall deliver you from all sinfull reactions. Do not fear.
No nation or race or religion can save us. Only the Lord Himself.

We make a distinction between being guru and being disiple. But actually perfect disciple means perfect guru. The last shall be first, the lowest servant is really the master.
We fall into trouble when we try to superimpose our upsidedown view of reality onto Reality. They say the best view of the whole is from the bottom.
-
Thank you.
Actually the life I was living was below the human level as I now understand it. I've never been his disciple but his teaching has given me a big step up in life and the vision of what the eternal goal looks like.
I don't see how varnashram-dharma is going to be relevant to this present age. At least not in any formal sense. I think its enough to live a simple honest life in accord with your nature. Even finding that is difficult. Compromising is often necessary. Take a brahman for example. Intellectual by nature. Presently his skill is being exploited by the vaishyas and fallen ksatriyas. His mind and intelligence wrapped up in nonsense projects all day. It might be better for him to mow lawns or clean offices at night so that he can keep his mind free for contemplating the self and the Superself.
-
Who is right? Who has the dominant intellect? Who is the most spiritualy intune, the most surrendered?
I ask: Who cares?
Just fix the problem!

the picture scared me too bad so i had to run off. From what I have been hearing it sounds more like bait from a chicken hawk."Come to the back room for private darshan and get a free Sai doll kiddies. So cuddlie and cute."

how a tiny appearing error can project an opposite meaning.
This also applies to Jayadvaita's so-called infallibility status also.
Rupa Vilas's suggested solution is the ONLY solution at this point.

Man those things are ugly. At $108 I hope they come with pins included.

Don't take it wrong gHari, but I'm still going to check with the paper to make sure it wasn't a typo. I'm sure there is no problem but better safe than sorry ya' know.
Bon Appetite

Why didn't God manifest a new hip bone at least?

The idea is to take the cd and burn some copies and distribute them. I have one but don't yet have a CD burner.
The meat industry has been keeping this knowledge out of sight for decades. The cruelty is so shocking that any person with an ounce of human sensitivity can no longer support this practice once they become aware.
Pictures here speak more than a thousand words. Once you see cows being hosted up on a chain by one leg conveyor style on their way to having their throats slit you become aware of what your money does when you buy meat, AND commercial MILK. Devotees?

>>That is why they are called born again? <<
No.Jesus was not refering to reincarnation when he told Nicodemus that he must be born again. He was speaking of spiritual birth into the Kingdom of God.

O' Dear Lord Jesus Christ' we have so little of your recorded statements with us, yet you continue to inspire many still by the sheer power of your presence from when you graced this Earth by placing your lotus-like feet upon her soil.
You told us that you had many other things to tell us but we were not ready to receive them at that time. Please by the agency of your Holy Spirit reveal to us your ever continuing revelation into the nature of the Father, your good self and even of our trueselves in relation to He who dwells within the heart of all.
Please strengthen us that we may follow your instruction to pick up our own individual crosses and follow you. May we be freed from any sectarian conceptions fostered by mundane religion so that we may perceive the Supreme Father who dwells within and without and everywhere as David prayed.
We ask not for mere salvation, we pray for full fledged love of God like unto the love for the Father that yourself did display for Him in accepting His direction to try and rescue us, the fallen, from our own wayward journey into the lands of darkness.
Unto you we offer our service and praise and through your glorified name may we praise in truth the name of the Father.
Amen and Om Tat Sat

Prabhupada wanted armed security at the temples. New Vrndavan was attacked by thugs with shotguns. And the incident at Mayapur. People here can recall those events. Some were probably there at the time.
The thing is its our duty to protect Krsna. He may be God but the thugs will have to go through us to get to Him.
-
was the guru of Paramahansa Yogananda. He made a big issue of how we are not yet really in kali-yuga. If I remeber right he consider us in Dvapara-yuga
Mayavadi, however I was told Prabhupada said he was a beautiful person. I also heard that he didn't make it out of the universe as he became attracted to some planet on his way out after death. Not sure of the accuracy of those statements.
Heterosexual & Homosexual Vaisnavas;Who Is Sinful? Who are we?

"homosexual couple." That is the problem right there. The very concept is ridiculous. They are to be considered brothers or sisters not lovers.
Questions like 'if two brothers are seen playing with each others genitalia but they don't come to oragsm is it illict sex' are meaningless and frankly stupid.
Besides that who wants to meditate on some other couples sexual habits, gay or straight? That means no one but their personal advisors have any business asking or hearing about it.
For me I take this position. I will talk to any devotee, straight or gay, about Krsna that is willing to talk to me. Unless they are trying to introduce homosexuality into Mahaprabhu's movement. In which case I don't even want to see their face.
Just my view.
