This one was very funny. Two separate stories that we used to hear. 1) Prabhupada mentioned that Narada Muni had come to a kirtan and was laughing in ecstasy to see the mlecchas chanting and dancing. 2) Prabhupadas was giving a lecture when a "bum" strolled in and walked straight to the bathroom. He brought a roll of toilet paper with him which he installed and then left. Prabhupada remarked "Now his devotional service has begun." The new re-edited version that was told to me a few years ago: One time, while Prabhupada was speaking, Narada Muni disquised as a street bum, walked in and installed a roll of toilet paper and then left. lol /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I want to forget my bloody past ,but I C'ANTpossibly! Can I?

This is what the Christians mean by repentance. To really break down and feel and confess our shame before the Lord. Repentance means to go the other way, to change our life's direction, our very motives. I have come to see that I have not crossed this threshold yet. I try to substitute using the vedabase to offer quotes and appear knowledgeable but until I feel truly repentant of my turning away from Krsna since time immemorial and trying to exploit others in so many ways then I feel my spiritual life has not really begun. -
This latest "intifada" by the Palestinians that has lasted four years now came after the Clinton administration was brokering a peace deal that had the Israelis giving up 97% of the demands for returned land etc. But that was broken immediately by the suicide bombings. The PLO never wanted a two state solution they wanted to kill or push all the Israelis out of the area completely. Speaking politically and not religiously I support Israel over the Palestinians without question. Anyway we have our different views and I will respect your right to be wrong on this and let it go. /images/graemlins/wink.gif It's a quagmire.

Good question. The Kingdom of God is not formless spirit or a void. The difference is that the forms there are made of genuine substance which is spirit. Here the forms are like mirages that change every second as the molecules that make them up always change. So this world is wispy and dreamlike, temporary and illusory. In the spiritual world everything is composed of eternity, cognition or consciousness and bliss. Those are your components. Your are a part of the spiritual world. You can take on any form you desire as an expression of how you may wish to serve the Lord. Praise Yeshua, Praise Krsna! There we don't inhabit spiritual forms we are spiritual forms.

The other guest gave the same answer I would have already. Nothing to add. If Krsna allowed me to see I would. But I doubt it I think I would be somehow attracted to Him in a friendly way but I would not be able to ascertain His position. Interesting question. No I can't even begin to picture the size of the universe. Picture an ant in a distant little forest walking across a rock, what is he able to conceive of the size of the universe? I share his vision of things.

Never heard that one and rather doubt it. I would be careful of the source. Do a google search. I remember this one brahmacai who was carrying around a quarter pound of butter and eating it all day long because "Prabhupada said" dairy would build a strong brain. I hope he quit or he probably had a heart attack or stroke by now. Srila Prabhupada did tell one devotee, Aniruddha, who was the first? cook in L.A. that twp paddies of butter a day was sufficent for a brahmacari. Not this everything swimming in ghee thing people fall into under some "Prabhupada said" misconception. I do hope you get that ghee from protected cows. I can't resist. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

with the latter statement. Different cultures with different circumstances and populated by people of varying degrees of spiritual knowledge to build on as a foundation.

Arjuna had questions and doubts. The difference is he submitted them to Krsna and received the answers as enlightenment. He questioned the correct source in order to know and not just to continue an arguement. No one can be expected to surrender out of sentiment alone.

I guess you are taking it for the omega 3's. Why not stick to flax? I hope Priitaa stops by as she knows about these oils.

You may preach, but who on earth will take you seriously ???

The Krsna conscious philosophy is really unbeatable for that. I have also used it many times to impress young woman. Krsna was never impressed though nor did it bring me any happiness. -
old speculations found to be false... what a surprise!

What is the goal of science? Do they wish to reach a final conclusion of some kind. If so Krsna is the conclusive truth amongst all mannersm of logicians. The most they can get out of science is to appreciate something of Krishna. If they do that fine. I myself every since I was a little boy have wanted my own private observatory where I could gaze deep into the heavens. I probably picked it up from reading Superman comics and about his fortress of solitude. I sympatheize with their questioning minds. What's more these top physicists brain power to brain power seem like an alien species to me. I cannot understand any other their theories. I heard Michio Kaku the other night again on Art Bell. Amazingly intelligent man. But the field they are trying to understand will be forever beyond their comprehension. They will find out something which will lead them deeper and deeper into maya's web. I questioned answered leads to three more being proposed. Unless they add Krsna, If they are seeing Krsna what is the difference if you see Him in a flower or microscope. And now pops up string theory. At least 11 more dimensions to learn all the laws of and possibly an umlimited number more. They need to focus on the difference between the self and the body. So incredibly intelligent but they still haven't a clue as to who they are. Maya has them hypnotized and transfixed in that sphere. Like a kalidesope. They are not alone she has us too in this 3d phantasmagoria. But they are in a leadership position and are cheating others with their bluffs of knowing. Therefore most of them are dangerous demons who are obscuring Krsna instead of revealing Him. This is their fault. -

Looking through those incredibly powerful telescopes and then trying to figure out the universe reminds me someone dropping acid and the looking through one of those little kaleiscope things with all the changing colors and patterns and then trying to map it all out. More fun if they stop trying to figure everything out and just allow themselves to be amazed at it all. "Whoa...like far out man...like the universal form and everything...soooo cool....and this is just a spark of His splendor.." Just bow down Mr. Scientist, just bow down. -
That too certainly. Will we hear as Arjuna heard or as in some other fashion?

To preach. This has a lot to do with the attitude we bring to the act I think. Just like some may prematurley climb up on the Vyasasana some of us may climb up on our little soapboxes and "preach to the fallen" or the "unsaved" and "the great unwashed" of the land. That soapbox can become our little homemade vyasasana. Are we really motivated by a desire to help others or just be seen in such a position as the one who is helping. It's a struggle to become small within our own minds at our present immature stage. Krsna doesn't need any of us to save anyone. If we are fortunate He will use us in some capacity just as a kindness to us. Main Entry: preach Pronunciation: 'prEch Function: verb Etymology: Middle English prechen, from Old French prechier, from Late Latin praedicare, from Latin, to proclaim publicly, from prae- pre- + dicare to proclaim -- more at DICTION intransitive senses 1 : to deliver a sermon 2 : to urge acceptance or abandonment of an idea or course of action; specifically : to exhort in an officious or tiresome manner transitive senses 1 : to set forth in a sermon <preach the gospel> 2 : to advocate earnestly <preached revolution> 3 : to deliver (as a sermon) publicly 4 : to bring, put, or affect by preaching <preached the... church out of debt -- Amer. I never thought of that before but the example of Dhritarastra and Arjuna is so obvious and perfect.

from people dominated by a sectarian understanding of religious and spiritual life? Try having a kirtan in downtown Riyadh sometime. Atheists often look upon religious expression as the "opiate of the masses" and feel justified in trying to stamp it out. Just a solid theoretical understanding of aham brahmasmi would solve this problem but very few are even slightly interested.

I can believe it. That seems to be the way with Prabhupada's books. I accept them as revelatory in nature. We see what we are allowed to see and are ready to see at any particular time. Of course that is true of everything in a way. We should be able to see Radha Krsna in a stone but very few do. Some will see just molecules. Some will see it all as Brahman. Some rare soul will see those qualities and Radha Krsna also beyond all else. That is why I always remain skeptical when someone indicates they have completed Srila Prabhupada's works and now must move on to more elevated works. It seems to me they be only tasting the outside of the honey jar. That is not to say the same honey is not present elsewhere just that I don't accept one reads along at at some point surpasses what is there. Krsna is ever fresh and when reading Krsna Book we should be literally entering into those pastimes and experiencing something new. I have a question. The gopis that came with Krsna did they all take ordinary material births? I mean since we know some gopis left their phyical bodies behind sleeping next to their husbands as they went to meet Krsna.

This whole line of understanding may lead to some interesting places. For instance, the next question might be about the nature of the forest wherein the rasa dance was held. Was that forest setting even visible to the eyes of this world? Was any of Krsna-lila? Don't know, just asking.

it does say that.

Yes it is perpetual in this land of death. Gigantic cosmic explosions wiping out star systems with their powerful wave rays to the drowning of vast numbers of insects every time some human waters their lawn and garden. We are presently caught up in human society so we tend to ignore the rest and get very excited when catastrophe hits our species. Of course we should do what we can to help but as guest reminds us we should see the constant nature of these events as they relate to all living beings. Any idea how many insects you will crush today as you walk? Leaving some lying halk dead unable to move away or defend themselves as another predator bug approachs to eat them alive. "Dear God,...."
