    Azwibagan Gaea!!! :)

    nagabiwzA to you dear Gaea;)

Shalom! :) (my knowledge is poor, I'm soon going to run out of these - haha)

Love is a great subject matter, and I think it goes well with bhakti. For the last three days I have been thinking of posting the same topic 'what is love'.

    So thx!

I think love is 'ever-new'. With a depth that has no limits. And being a human is way cool to discover what it is! The more we awaken to love to Krsna I think we awaken to love everything that is Krsna. And Krsna is everything.

It is late at night here, and I cant quite express what I feel about love. But I know one thing in my heart, discovering love is a journey for eternity...and that is quite a blissful thought.

So bliss and all things like that are in relation to love. There are some things about love I dont think we even talk about....and if we do say some things we are in good company.

That's a good description... did you get the feeling that the more you write the more insufficient the description will be? It's weird... I have a strange sense of knowing what love is, or what it's supposed to be, but no amount of words in my vocab can ever describe it.. or even it's reason.... (if there is one)

How do I love??? If you know how that desire can be fulfilled let me know.

I think it will take an entire lifetime for me or more - if there is still an internet around at the end of my life, I may well reply to this message if i'm lucky enough ;)

I must be off to think about Krsna and His beautiful form. Cheerio!

    Say hi from me :D

  2. Salaam All! (just to have a different greeting :) )

I haven't posted here in YEARS, but I've popped in now and again to see the odd discussion - the same battles are still raging, which is good to see since it means everyone is at least a seeker. ;)

Here's a question that buzzed between my sister and I - and one I remember posting here about 5 years ago under a different name... Still no closer to an answer...

    What is Love?

    How do I Love?

These are absolutely fundamental questions (to me at least) - I really do try to experience Love (I equate it with Bhakti, some may disagree with that though) but just get seem to get the floodgates open.

    Any thoughts?

  3. i understand... thanks!

if we are all comfortable like this then we can all concentrate on the bhakti bit instead of arguing about the nitty gritty of every word. Still, i think the "hidden meanings" should be sought - otherwise, what's the point in having them there? i guess we have to have faith that Krsna gives us the tools we need to find those meanings, if indeed we are worthy.

  4.

Nevertheless if we accept this as a third option I would say it still doesn't matter if it happened in some astral plane way or not. I believe the real truth is to be found in the lesson learned by Durvasa. That is what is universally applicable and that is where we find our own spiritual benefit. Afterall why would it matter to us if he went in a gross body or a subtle body or if he was just used as a literary character. We can believe in any of these three options and still not get any spiritual benefit. The spiritual benefit is in learning how the Lord Himself honors His devotees and will not tolerate their being vilified. This is a lesson to us about offending the devotee while trying to approach the Lord Himself.

Not just the lesson... I don't, well I can't believe that words of SB or any other scripture are wasted in any way. Whether allegorical or literal or somewhere in between, what is the meaning of those actions? In other words, making of a demon from the hair - what is that a metaphor for? What is the meaning? I think this type of enquiry is encouraged by SB and we can get something meaningful for our lives and bhakti out of it.

My religion (whatever it is) is better than yours (whatever it is). Don't believe? I will prove. Then you will be forced to believe.:smash:

I find many things in your religion, which have been proven wrong by Science. You find the same problem in my religion? How dare you do that? Do you give more importance to mundane scientists than what is spoken by God?

Oh, so you say that I should not use mundane Science to judge your religion. Come on. Don't be emotional. Use logic. Are you trying to use logic to judge my religion? Don't you know that mundane logic should not be applied in spiritual things?

You say that Science can be wrong? Of course, it can be. But there are many things in your religion, which contradict what we clearly observe. Now, don't start finding the same problem in my religion. Remember that you should not trust your senses. After all they are imperfect.

My religion cannot be wrong. It is given by God. It is clearly written in my religion that it is given by God. Is it written in your religion that it is given by God? What a fool you are! Don't you know that circular logic is not a valid logic at all?

Now you must agree that my religion is perfect and your religion is wrong. Better to agree now than to repent later.:crying2: If you do not agree then :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash: :smash:

love this! please publish worldwide :)

interesting question...I would also like to know more about this.

Where did all of the other demigods such as Indra, Hanuman, Surya, Chandra, Yamaraj etc. come from...what is their "history" ?

Much about the "lesser" demigods can be found in the Rg Veda as well as other Vedic texts - I don't know about other texts specifically. Also within the Ramayana and Mahabharatha, and more so in Srimad Bhagvatham, there is plenty of "history" about the demigods. Incidentally, I don't think Hanuman is a demigod - depends on your classification systsyem i guess - but he is a True Devotee of Rama, which far outstrips any demigod by a long shot in my opinion.

All this talk of comparing one religion over another has no intrinsic value. Especially at the moment of death. At that point what matters is the Name of God and our realization of the transcendental nature of our own being.

The only religion is that one that is intrinsic to the eternal soul. Our eternal dharma. And that is loving service to the Lord. "Simple for the simple".

we've really got to ask the question why devotees, be they Vaishanavas or whatever, feel is necessary to lambast other religions or religious figures? Maybe to prove a point of some kind, but perhaps more subtely perhaps because of a little insecurity that they have within them? There's been a few threads about Christ and other religious figures in recent months on this forum where the opposition is more angry than skeptical, inquisitive or doubtful. When the case is such maybe it's best just to leave those topics alone and just concentrate on Love and Service.... haha, i just re-read that - it's best to just concentrate on Love and Service all the time i should say :)

  8. technically the wife-buring thing in India is illegal, but there are isolated incidents that I hae heard about. There is definately a religious origin - Madri, wife of Pandu, burned herself at the pyre. What does it mean? I don't know - perhaps it is testimony of the Lakshmi-Visnu relationship that used to exist between husband and wife in previous yugas.

Ok.. I'm trying to make sense of all this.. Krishna is an Incarnation of Vishnu but is the Supreme personality of the God Head.. Brahmans claim Brahma is the supreme.. Shiavism claims Shiva is the supreme. I do not even know the differences between these.. Morality and basic themes such as chant a mantra all seems pretty much the same thing just different words and different faces. I've been thinking about which sect is the best for me.. I decided to go with Krishna simply because it was Krishna who revealed himself to me and showed me compassion and love.. Not the other Gods..

I see how one can get confused over this... Brahma, Visnu, Shiva are like the holy trinity of the Vedas. Vaisnavas (esp. HK etc) believe Krsna is the ORIGINAL Personality from which these three originate so in that context Krsna IS NOT an incarnation of Visnu. Other Hindus believe the impersonal aspect of God is Supreme and to them Krsna is indeed an incarnation of Visnu.

As Beggar said, Brahma and Brahman are DIFFERENT. Brahma is the three-headed creator who sits in the lotus. Brahman on the other hand is the impersonal aspect of God. The Brahmanas that you speak of are the priest caste in Hinduism - they aren't necessarily Brahma or Brahman worshippers.

Yes and some of those stories are just too unbelievable and exaggerated to have actually taken place on a 3d plane with Earth like physics. Like the famous statement that King Ugrasena had 12 billion bodyguards. 18 million dead at Kurkshetra but no artifacts.

Yet I accept Srimad Bhagavatam as"literal" Truth because Krsna has appeared there and knowledge of Him is revealed there as well as knowledge of who ourselves are. I believe in the literal rasa dance for example. I accept that Krsna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead as described and is in fact dancing right there with the gopis in present time as we read the depictions of the Bhagavatam.

IOW's I accept the Bhagavatam as the LITERARY Incarnation of Krsna(God).

I know this makes me a heretic in everyone's mind but nontheless....

    Being a heretic is a-ok :)

According to Vaishnava principles, anyone who refuses to accept and worship the deity form of the Lord is an impersonalist.

Of couse Jesus was an impersonalist and an iconoclast as well.

If Jesus would have seen a deity of Krishna he probably would have smashed it to the ground in a thousand pieces whilst pronouncing so many explitives.

Anyone who doesn't accept the deity form of the Lord is a demon possessed of hellish mentality.

Jesus was against all IDOL WORSHIP. (deity worship)

I think this picture puts this argument to rest. Bart Simpson, a boy from an American Christian family, meets the personal God. See?

  12. Guest,

How do you know mahakji is not practicing the highest? He has just glorified Christ, which is a very right thing to do since He is the servant of the Lord. Has he given up Krsna worship in any way? No. And if you think he has - why do you think so?

Mahakji - I think your admiration for Christ after 30 yrs in Krsna worship is but a result of Krsna worship itself. It's truly fantastic to see devotees becoming more open minded than closed minded, which is as it should be.

What is the weather like in these Indian forrests where people like Druva Maharaja and Maharaja Bharata went to engage in devotional service. I assume the weather is fairly mild all year round? Does it ever snow in India?

i've been to the forests that were formally known as Hindambavan and surrounding areas and also went to where Sita was kidnapped - i imagine the ashrams of the sages were around these areas too (some of them at least) - i went in Jan-Feb and the weather was difficult. It was foggy, quite cold. Living in a mud hut would have been very, very hard at that time. Other forests i'm not sure of tho.
