  1. I e-mailed Miracle Gro and asked them what ingredients are in their plant food and what their source is. I also asked them if any animal products are in the product. We'll see what response I get, if any. Thank you for the replies concerning this.
  2. Hare Krishna Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I have a question about taking care of Tulasi. Can you use Miracle Gro on her? Someone I know does, but it doesn't seem right to me. Does anyone know anything about this?
  3. We have Panca Tattva in the center, Jaganatha, Baladeva and lady Subhadra on the deities left and Srila Prabhupada and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati on the deities right. There is also a small Gaura Nitai right underneath the center of Panca Tattva.
  4. Hare Krishna I am looking for a Harmonium. I cannot pay much, but maybe someone has a used one they would like to sell? I am in Southern California. Thank you!
  5. It was mentioned in the story about the devotees being rescued in New Orleans something about news reporters coming with the devotees. Does anyone know where the reporters were from? Hare Krishna
  6. I think. I was watching Fox news last night and I swear that I saw a devotee in the footage for a brief second. It was from behind and I saw a sika (sp?). I never saw that shot again, but the person I saw was loading up one of those bins everyone is pushing around in the water. I was wondering about the deities. From the looks of it, they are made out of marble? I don't know how they could get them out of there? They must be So heavy and they are wading through sometimes more than waist deep water. My thoughts and prayers are with the devotees and deities ofNew Orleans.
  7. In Laguna Beach, we are celebrating it on Friday night.
  8. How Exciting! I went to the temple for the first time 2 years ago for Janmastami, and have been back every week since! I would just advise the same as everyone else, don't wear anything revealing, no tank tops or anything. Like the others said, it is our biggest celebration, so be ready to have a good time, dance, and feast for Krishna's appearance day! Find someone friendly and maybe you can ask them any questions yo have about the temple, or if you are going with someone who goes, ask them. Have a great time and please come back and tell us how it was! Hare Krishna
  9. I will try and find out about that. If anyone else has any work, r suggestions, please continue to bring them on! Hare Krishna
  10. I don't have the funds necessary to do it right now. It is super expensive here and I need to get a job so I can make some money to pay our rent and my car payment. So thats why I cannot do it right now.
  11. I am an at home devotee mom who needs a job and would prefer to work for a devotee owned company. Are there any companies or persons who need help, preferably something I could do from home? I am in Southern California. I have proficient computer skills and am a fast learner. Hare Krishna
  12. ...that you are looking way too deep into any response I had. I simply asked why you thought that I was not going to pay employees. I was not being negative, actually, you were. But I am not going to engage in back and forth with you about whethre I was or not. yes I do want to do this, and yes I can cook.
  13. Why would you think that I don't want to pay them? I never said that. Of course I would pay them. You cannot expect someone to be able to devote themselves to working in a restaurant in a beach town, not get paid and be able to pay their bills. When I said I didn't have the money, I was speaking about starting the business itself, not paying employees. Even if I did have to employ Karmis, I would make sure they were vegetarian at least, and they would likely work in the front and not cook the prasadam. That would be done by a devotee for sure and also the offering would be done by a devotee, obviously. Why did you say also that it was not meant to be?
  14. I know it would be a lot of hard work, but to be able to distribute Prasadam to karmis here in our town would be great. We never have Harinam here or anything like that, so it would be so nice. I was also envisioning a nice gift area, with prabhupada's books and some little things people like to buy from India. We get so many tourists in the summer time and surf contests also that bring in so many people. I know that there is not one single vegetarian indian restaurant in the area also. Many serve vegetarian dishes, but they also serve meat. (yuck!) I really appreciate all the input, if anyone wants to keep adding ideas PLEASE DO! I am in ecstasy hearing all of this! Hare Krishna!!!!!!!!
  15. but I have no experience in a restaurant. I know that I could probably get experienced devotees to work and consult. Can you give me any ideas for what the ideal prasadam restaurant is like? LA's is very nice, but a lot larger than I could handle. They also have a lot of devotee's who work in the kitchen. I am really thinking about it, I just need the money! If Krishna wants it to happen, it will!
  16. Haribol I was wanting some input from devotees. I live in a beach town in Southern California and have been thinking about opening a prasadam restaurant here. I was just wondering if anyone here has opened one, or managed one and how it went? We are right in the middle of Laguna Beach temple and Los Angeles, so it would be a great way to preach in our town, without being pushy. We only have 2 other vegan or vegetarian rest. in town and neither serves Indian food, I was thinking of a scaled down version of LA's restaurant. Any input? Hare Krishna
  17. I will be at the prabhupada festival tomorrow in complete ecstasy!!!!! I can't wait!
  18. I am sorry tht yo have decided to seperate. That is never an easy decision for either of the parties involved. Just try to be strong in your parctice of Krishna Consciousness and maybe she will see the ecstasy you feel and decide to come back. If not, then maybe Krishna has other plans for you and her in this lifetime. Nothing is really in our control, it is all in Krishna's hands! We have to just raise our arms to the sky and shout out Krishna's name and surrender to him. Hare Krishna
  19. Hare Krishna I am glad my post helped someone. Haribol
  20. It is just something that yo have to deal with. I have Gaura-Nitai deities in our home. I worship them during the day when my husband is not home and put them to rest when he returns. One day the doors were open and he walked in with a beer in his hand and I told him to take his beer out, and boy did that start a fight. It is difficult, but it can be done. I even have to cook meat, which is so gross to me and wrong, but as his wife I am following his requests. My TP once told me that there is an area in the Bhagavatam where in Prabhupada's commentary he talks about being a chaste wife and doing as your husband asks, even if it is not following KC strictly to do what he requests. I would rather follow the order of Prabhupada and my Guru and please krishna, than pull my family apart and strictly follw every aspect of KC. Krishna knows where my heart is when I am cooking meat, and he knows how much I hate doing it, so I am being tolerant.
  21. Do you have Kids? If you do you should stay and be tolerant. If not it may be best to leave before you do. Does she show signs of desire to learn about Krishna at all and become a devotee? I know how hard it can be to have a partner who drinks and eats meat (mine does) but we have kids so it may be different. My Guru told me to just be tolerant and one day my husband would see Krishna in his heart. Hare Krishna
  22. Thank You Stonehearted. I was really wanting to hear the rest of the leture and also what was before that clip. I wanted to cry just hearing that small part. When I first came to ISKCON(2 years ago), I did not have a relationship with Prabhupada, meaning I did not grasp what sacrifices he ahd made. Last year I attended the Prabhupada festival in LA and was so emotional because I finally saw just how much Prabhupada loved his devotees and everything he sacrificed. Just seeing the love of his disciples with tears in their eyes telling stories of Prabhupada pastimes was enough to make me feel the love they must feel, and I am so glad that I have that. Haribol
  23. That little piece of nectar is wonderful Thank you for that. How can we hear the whole lecture Prabhu? Thank you again!
  24. that giving your life to Krishna IS enjoying this life. That is why we are here as humans. To learn to love Krishna completely in our hearts again. Not to enjoy with our senses. So if a sanyassi wants to commit himself totally to Krishna and only krishna I say he is a strong soul, and I encourage them.
