  1. Yeah, basically Lord Caitanya IS a direct incarnation of Krishna who came to Earth to show us how to properly worship and achieve Krishna Consciousness, and go back home to Godhead. To chant "Caitanya, Caitanya" was not Lord Caitanya's instructions, and He being that ultimate guru and devotee of Himself is the highest authority on how to worship Him. Hare Krishna!

    WHAT TO DO

Or on the flip side of basically trying to avoid anyone you fall in love with like the plague, you could try to be in a not-so-physical relationship with her and explain Krishna Consciousness to her. Hare Krishna

    DELUSION

Try to keep your mind fixed on Krishna at all times, and chant.
  4. Wow, a little update for me here, my best record for a day was 5 rounds.. But today I chanted 16 rounds, and I feel great. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

    Shiva

The teachings say in many places that Siva is a great great devotee of the Lord, but he is not the Lord himself. Indeed he is a truly great demigod though, but he is not KRISHNA himself so we should not worship him as such. Haribol
  6. Hare Krishna I think maybe things have worked out for the best. I mean that in the sense that if someone choses he or she can have both versions of the Gita. If you want to look at the reprints are simply improved-translation on Srila Prabhupada's original BG-As It Is or some evil plan to away the hearts of Vaishnavas. I don't think it's either good or bad personally, if anything maybe a careless-yet-innocent mistake. Srila Prabhupada was truly a pure soul, can we say the same about the gurus in ISKCON right now here today? I don't think we can. But no matter what version of the Gita we use I think it's ok to say that we all chant Hare Krishna with the same aim and goal.
  7. A whole round in 3 minutes?! you must be like the Yngwie Malmsteen of chanting Hare Krishna. /images/graemlins/wink.gif It takes me something like 9 minutes to chant a round, but I don't want to miss a word so I try to concentrate on it and probably end up taking more time that way.
  8. Actually I hate almost all rock music. What I personally want to do is do some sort of metal project, musically influenced by European Power Metal like Blind Guardian and Helloween, but maybe with some progressive elements in it too, like Dream Theater and Savatage. But of course the lyrics would be KC.
  9. Good question, the last thing I heard was that he broke up BT1K, but I have no idea if Shelter are broken up or just on a really long break or whatever.
  10. Well today I sorta told my mom that I'm a Krishna, it was kinda weird. I was joking around that I wanted to be a monk, and she starts talking about the vow of silence that Catholic monks take. So I said "no, I wouldn't be a Catholic monk" and she asked me what other kind of monks were there, and I explained that Buddhist monks can talk and such. Then she asked me if girls can be monks, and I took it as my opportunity to mention Hare Krishna monks, and how the girls can take the same vow as the guys and stuff. Well I explained that a bit to her and she asked me if I ever prayed, and I told her the Hare Krishna mantra and how it's just like the Our Father or Hail Mary. Oh and I also told her that I chant on beads. And then I popped the big question "would you freak out if I told you I was a Hare Krishna?" and shes' like "yeah.. it's a cult". Then I explained to her some basics of it, how it is just Vaishnava devotee Hinduism and some famous people like Harrison who were Krishnas. Needless to say after some time talking she said if I wanted to go to a Hindu temple sometime she'd think about tagging along with me. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
  11. This is very nice, who is Bhakti Vaibhava Puri Maharaja though?
  12. All glory to Srila Prabhupada It brings a tear to my eye how much he cared for us, and how much of his life he poured into translating books so we as Westerners could learn. He was a great great man and he will never be forgotten.
  13. I was under the impression coffee and chocolate was a no no too.
  14. Yes it's a great idea to practice and get good gear. But the attitude that it's so important to play live isn't so necessary in this day and age. That sounds weird to most people, how on earth can you have a successful band if you never play live? well, people do it everyday. I'll give the example of "Pagan Black Metal", I'd say a good 80% of the bands have never played a live show in their careers. That basic theory is that if you never see a band you really like play live, you can't ever be disappointed by the people. In turn it leaves the only contact you have with them is the music on record and the message that they get across in their music. So I guess that the same theory of not playing live could work for a band trying to get the message of Krishna Consciousness across.
  15. So for the last couple weeks I haven't really been able to chant. I guess I've had some doubts, reading some uninspiring things about ISKCON or whatever. But I know in the back of my mind that I want to be conscious of Krishna, it's just hard sometimes. I've also been very stressed out and depressed, not sure if that has anything to do with it though. So if anyone could suggest anything I'd really appreciate it.
  16. But unfortunately I don't live in India. The same idea has crossed my mind a few times. Although I'd probably just write all the music myself and hire a session drummer. But I do get a kick out of the fact that I have yet to hear a good Christian band, and I have yet to not like a Krishnacore band LOL. It's too bad 108 broke up, and Shelter don't seem to be doing much these days.

  18. As long as you aren't having sex with him there is no problem. Sex is sex if it's a guy and a girl, girl and a girl, guy and a guy. It's all breaking that rule man. So just try to stay in KC and everything should work out for you.
  19. Praise Srila Prabhupada and his great works. I do believe there is a picture of him beside the word prolific in the Dictionary. /images/graemlins/smile.gif I got introduced to Krishna Consciousness and really got interested in it by the music of Shelter. That probably sounds weird to a lot of you guys, but music really can spread a good message.
  20. Hare Krishna I don't know if this has ever been discussed before on this board. But what does it mean when you have dreams that aren't necessarily blasphemous against Krishna, but not exactly flattering to Him either? or say if you were to dream that you converted to Christianity. Is it just a bad reflection of Maya getting twisted in your mind and coming out innocently wrong in your dreams?

    rounds?

A "round" in chanting is one time around a japa bead necklace, the Maha Manta said 108 times is a round. I can not answer your question on Hare Brahma though, Krishna is the Supreme Brahman so I could see why you would think that. Haribol
  22. Yes, it's ironic that you posted this. Prtha DD is a great devotee indeed, and I humble myself before her. Here is a page with all the pages she has made http://www.geocities.com/priitaa/krishna_conscious_web_sites.htm she is making a lot of things clearer for me, in trying to be closer to Krishna. Haribol
  23. Of course you can worship Krishna and chant His holy name. Krishna Consciousness is for everyone who is willing to learn and grow in a loving relationship with Lord Krishna. I only wish for myself that I would have found Krishna at your age, it would have probably saved me a lot of heartache in the end. Srila Prabhupada said that the youth are most drawn to Krishna Consciousness because they only have a fine layer of dirt and filth collect from living with out knowledge of Krishna in the material world. So it should make perfect sense that the youth are the first to see how holy and sublime Krishna Consciousness really is. I am pretty young and am very new to Krishna Consciousness myself, so I wish you luck my friend. Haribol!
