  1. Jagatji: Non-aspirated duplicated dadhmau appears in text 12 & 15.

    1) So if we want to espress "He really blew it" in Sanskrt we'd say "sah tat eva hi dadhmau" or sa hy eva tat dadhmau"

    At least figuratively.

So many au endings in Sad GosvAmyaSTakam.

    2) Bhag 1.1.16 zuzruSoH zraddadhAnasya

Looks like 2 in a row. 2 what in a row?

As Costello said to Abbott in their reknowned routine "Who's on First", 'I don't even know what I'm talkin' about.'

So if zru is duplicated by zu = zuzru, then r is being treated as an aspirant rh like in Greek?

    rhombus, rhetoric, rhapsody, rheumatism

Just a thought. Please continue. Ready for more.

  2. SatyarAj: remember the film Poltergeist?

In many Science Fiction flicks, people have to pass "through a wall" from one dimension to another.

    Sadguru can afford you/us that.

Of course we have to be ready.

If PrabodhAnanda Sarasvati was/is ASTasakhI TungavidyA, he/she certainly had that transfer power.

As for who has that zakti today?

    Our fleshy eyes cannot distinguish.

We're left in the dark or we follow out innermost voice/intuition.

No visible/external sign can verify/identify sadguru.

  3. Don't invite any Rtvik or GBC types for this next quote.

They'll all go out right away to purchase trampolines for cushioning their consequent backflips.

    Those already here can hear.

    Others will misconstrue.

    Perhaps you already know this.

After hearing some of my guru's CC purports, Zrila Bhaktiraxaka Zridhar Mhrj said at least one "should be changed."

That one and a few others were being repeatedly misinterpreted.

    This is still going on.

    The principle is this:

If any portion of any zAstra is misguiding people... it must be adjusted.

People may be upset with me for typing this, but the truth must be said.

Let the cards fall where they may.

This does not mean I agree with GBC/BBT tampering with PrabhupAd's books.

    Not in the least.

The aim of zAstra is to guide zisyas from kaniSTha to madhyam to uttam.

Any zAstra that's doing that... fine.

Any portion of any zAstra that's blocking that flow... dump it.

Kick it so far away, even NASA won't be able to detect its orbit.

  4. Hey Tandem Random, Long time no megabyte!

I didn't post this one. Lila dd from Central Bronx did.

She came to Puruji's program Saturday Night. Try again.

However, I'm no liberal. Rush is light years to my left.

What makes you think Clinton was caught?

I though you knew something about Amerikan politics.

As I told you before, if Bushwhacker can reduce abortion, more power to him.

If he allots gov't laxmi to churches who do good work, very nice.

But if those gov't supported churches serve slaughtered animals at their festivals, it becomes vikarma-phalam; we all become somewhat implicated.

Apart from that, what else on his agenda is even remotely Vedik?

    I do wish him luck.

ps - That illiterate Gita-reading South Indian brahmaNa may have scored low on his IQ test too.

    Zriman MahAprabhu was no psychometrician.

  5. Jagatji: you skipped verses 7, 8, 9.

    1) for drupada putreNa tava ziSyena dhImatA, shouldn't it be drupadasya putreNa = by son of Drupada?

How do we know Drupada and putra are connected?

    2) gerund and present participle sound same. tyaktvA is gerund?

tyaktvA turnam azeSa mandala pati-zrenim sadA tucchavat

    Having given up...

What about chUtvA bhUtvA pralIyate. Similar gerund?

    3) this verb dadhmau

dadhmau looks like a dual ending.

And you say it's stem is duplicated.

da is similar, though not = to dhma

Where's the stem? Where the duplication?

    Please continue with Chapter 1.

    Very nice explanations.

    Thank you very much.

  6. Anangaji: I agree that both 20th century PrabhupAd's appear to be overly critical or sometimes even inimical to other vaiSNavas.

You of course know what one said in Raman-reti 1977:

"Okay, the war is over. I beg forgiveness. For preaching purposes and to protect my novice zisyas I sometimes had to say certain things. I apologize for that."

Other vaisnavas insulted his preaching work. He insulted them back. Some tit for tat went on. None can deny.

But at least there was no bloodshed. And many important philosophical points were raise. And they'll continue to be raised. Yesterday it was VNN Forums. Today it's IndiaDivine.

The casings may be many. The content consistent.

  7. Right. Hari means life. Wherever Hari is, life is.

Like this famous film "Tom Dick and Harry."

So because Hari is there, then Tom and Dick have life.

Sans Hari/Harry, Tom remains Tamas, tamogun lifeless.

And as for Dick, well, we all know his role in rajogun.

But sans Hari/Harry fertilization is impossible.

    Even invitro.

Ergo, Veda provides us that agnihotra-yajna diksa zloka:

apavitrah pavitro vA yah smaret pundarikAxam zucih zri viSNu zri viSNu zri viSNu

"Whether invitro or vitro, liquified or purified, or having gone through all sorts of testtube births, one should always recall pundarikAxam the Loyus Eyed-One Hari/Harry."

    HarryHarryBowl

ps - Soul enters body during rainy season.

Ergo Ascetic Andy Williams chants famous Vedik mantra every Christmas season:

"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."

  8. At Istagostha our Temple Treasurer was holding each & every devotee accountable for his own personal expenditures.

Our Temple President thought he had a good excuse for his excessive travel expense.

TP: "I just got back from India."

    TT: "Yes, we heard."

    TP: "I had lunch there."

TT: "Only lunch? You went so far, halfway around the Globe just to eat lunch?"

TP: "I heard they had a New Deli." (Delhi)

  9. CANakya PaNDit or someone stated:

    1) a goat can eat anything,

    2) a fool can say anything,

    3) a woman can do anything.

So don't be surprized if you come home one day and...

you find all you valued, all you cherished, all you thought of dearly all of a sudden devalued nearly to nil.

Why? A Woman's Heart... which in 9th Canto, UrvAzI compares to a razor.

UrvAzI should know; she is one herself.

  10. Animesh: Poetic meter takes into account sandhi.

    You'll be messing with meter only if you open up vowels like e into a + i, o into a + u, A into a + a, etc.

4 syllable gurUttama => guru uttama (5 syllables) thus effecting, unsmoothing zlokas chanting rhythm.

Conjunct consonants like cc into t + c in saccidAnanda => sat cit Ananda won't add any syllable.

IOW, you'll be adding one syllable, which interrupts the poetic flow.

Give an example of a word combination you find too long.

Jagat: When Zrila Zridhar Mhrj's Gita 1st came out in English 1985, 1st thing I noticed was this 1.10 verse translated oppositely.

  11. This reminds me of junior devotees challenging senior devotees, children challenging parents.

Our general lack of culture & respect for one another is increasing.

Yet we think we're progressing. We're convinced of it.

This Yudhisthir Mhrj deemed the funniest thing of all.

  12. One devotee could not at all control himself.

As described in UpadezAmrta zloka 1, he became victim to all 6 pushings: talk, mind anger, taste, belly & genital.

Thus, according to universal law, the only car he was allowed to drive was?

"(nogaW) nageV noitatS" (read in mirror or backwards)

  13. Foreseeing persistent economic calamity as Kaliyuga progresses, this year's Mission Committee Chairman expressed:

"Dear Prabhus & Matajis, we know instead of Sanskrt Holy Names, some of you are still giving your children Christian names like John and Mary on their birth certificates.

For financial purposes we humbly request you to avoid choosing one name in particular, that is, never name your kids William or Wilhelmina."

One mission member inquired, "What? How come?"

Chairman: "You're intelligent. You can figure it out."

Member: "I haven't the slightest idea. Tell me. Tell us."

Chairman: When times are bad what usually happens?

    Member: More bank robberies?

Chairman: Yes, more generally, 2 things occur:

    1) Nobody pays them. They're ignored.

    2) They stack up. There's too many.

Member: Pays what? Who's ignore? What stacks up? Too many who?

    Chairman: "Bills."

  14. Hahaha! Atma-ha! Men's Rib stories allowed on this thread?

Not to be at all contrary, last week I really did go to a guidance counselor for my son.

Nice discussion. He gave an example of another 17 yr old boy who recently became disobedient to his mother.

First he interviewed mother. Next he interviewed son.

Son revealed: "My mother is dressing up like a teenager & now she's going out with my best friend who's also 17.

So how do you expect me to respect her as my mother?"

  15. Adding fuel to fire, insult to injury, one apparently well-educated refined mission committee leader got up & shouted:

"Yeah! Handbaskets don't even have speedometers. Expedience is all importance. To Heaven with those environmentalists!

Me? I'm headed the other direction."

    Honesty's the Best Policy.

  16. At recent, recorded Istagosthis as well as GBC Meetings whose overall theme was "Simple Living, High Thinking", the following question was seriously posed:

"Why should our movement's leaders "Go to Hell in a Hand Basket" if modern gas guzzling conveyances afford more comfort?"
