If I was the owner of a McDonald's and ISKCON decided to build themself a temple next to me then I am just going to tell them "build somewhere else. you are decreasing my business. i have no problem with you Hare Krsna's. i have a family to feed just like you. just build somewhere else" They're are certain social protocols/customs that people should observe in their daily dealings and in business (the case here) for that matter. Respect for others is one. Treat others as you would like them to treat you. This is for the benefit of society/varnaashrama-dharma. Personally, I have no problem with McD's building next to a Hare Krsna temple. You might even see me in the McDonald's eating a baked apple-pie (has eggs i believe). Note: Moving this McD's 'away' from the temple is not going to increase the Krishna devotion. Yum. A business is suppose to serve the needs & wants of the surrounding people. Their seems to be a dichtomy here, not accidental, but intentional. Their are vegetarian devotees in the area and there are non-vegetarian karmi's/devotees that will come in to purchase meat-food. Who is creating this intentional clash? Why is a McDonalds being built so close to ISKCON-Dallas? This will offend the devotees who are an important part of the Dallas city. Seems that their are people with ulterior motives here. Doesn't ISKCON help the area with food and clothes? It adds tremendous sociological, economic, and spiritual value to Dallas. Much more than a single McDonalds could add. ISKCON should be viewed as an independent corporation in the eyes of the people, just like McDonalds. When you weigh both, ISKCON-Dallas wins, easily. I saw a Pizza Hut in Ahmedabad last time I went there. Does anyone know anything about their ingredients? I already know renin (animal fat) is used in American cheese. Many of these pizza chains in India will put a logo such as '100% vegetarian'. But who knows what is used to make the ingredients. This might only be the tip of the iceberg.

Compassion or a lack of compassion are on the same coin. They are illusions of the mind.

Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu is a scientific study of devotional service. The adjective 'ghost-like' is used because the desires for bhukti, jnana, and mukti can trap a person within their grips just as a ghost can possess a body. There is certainly room for many angles of vision in Gaudiya Vaisnava theology. Why would an outspoken critic of the death penalty be hard pressed to support mercy on Sri Jagai and Madhai. Lets not forget Sri Jagai and Madhai are doorkeepers of Vaikunthaloka descending to set an example of deliverance and glorify Sri Nityananda Prabhu. Hold it there. Lets not forget everything is under Lord Krishna's supervision and control - including the dispension of state laws which are incarnations of Dharma (justice). The application of justice with spiritual emancipation - in essence they are the same thing.

To people who are steadfastly against polygamy...Two points... 1) The male physiognomy is different from females in the sense that their impulses guide them towards multiple mates for purposes of procreation. 2) Female pyschology dictates that she obtain a man for herself out of a sense of security and others females become competitors. Hopefully with these two points in mind Mars and Venus can come to some type of synthesis. The over-influence of the orthodox christian monogamous marriage on American culture is unfortunate. I personally believe Vedic polygamy would be beneficial to society, culture, nation-state, and world. Hopefully, one day we will get to see it installed world-wide.

I think this verse from Bhakti-rasamrta-sindhu would be appropriate: Until the ghost-like desires for bhukti (material enjoyment), jnana (knowledge), and mukti (liberation) disappear from the heart; Krsna-prema cannot manifest.
