  1. sounds like a formula for unleashing a large phalanx of bogus tyagis on the world creating an ever worse image of the Hare Krishna people than there already is. forget about the mass costume party. just quietly and privately give up material illusions without all the fanfare and groupies. it's about time to end the era of the saffron sickos and their sychopants. (psychopants)? just go away and give up your maya and your hopes to exchange it for some prestige and position in the Hare Krishna society. it's about time the white ragged ascetics start replace the saffron sickos and the jet-set Swamis.
  2. sorry, I am not interested in varnashrama stuff. real renunciation is a lot more important than some formality and the change of costumes. I don't need any costume to give up material illusions. The costume might help others, but I don't care for it. Mainly, the costume is for preachers which I am NOT. When I take sannyasa it will be privately, quietly and without any costume party. the costume party is not real sannyasa anyway. Just give your life to the Holy Name. That is the only renunciation you need. We have enough clowns wearing the costume. What we need now is some real ascetics. anybody wanna join me in living in a straw hut and wearing real rags? That would be easy for me after all I have been through.
  3. In case somebody missed it, Srila Prabhupada is saying that the mantra in the form of alphabetical letters is no different than the spoken mantra. This is a concept that is impossible for the professional, career gurus and remnants of the smarta bigots to accept or admit, but Srila Prabhupada has said quite clearly that the mantra in the form of letters is non-different than Krishna. Duh, Krishna is for real in case some of you have forgotten what it's all about. Krishna is alive and well on this forum in his alphabetical incarnation. Srila Prabhupada is alive and well in his form as instructions in the form of alphabetical arrangements. Did you catch that kiddies?
  4. So, Muralidhar, now whos the knucklehead? Nothing to fear when repeating the Gaura Gayatri given by your Gurudeva? Then why you trying to bash me here for posting a commentary and not even the mantra? (well, I posted links where it is available elsewhere)
  5. initiation in it's raw form is simply the hearing of the gayatri mantra. no contract, no acceptance..... just receive the mantra.
  6. Lord Brahma was setting all alone on the lotus flower, not a another soul to be found anywhere in the universe. Still, he was initiated from within his heart. Sounds like a perfect prototype to me. Brahma didn't need to relate with anybody to get diksa. He just had to be seriously seeking to understand what he was there for. Besides, we can relate with Srila Prabhupada by submitting ourselves to hear his instructions. I can't think of a better person to relate with or a better way to do it.
  7. listen to the player from this link... http://prabhupadaradio.com/M3U/Lectures/m3u/002LCT.m3u
  8. Can anybody show us where Lord Brahma made any contract with Lord Krishna at the time of initiation? Can anybody show us where Lord Brahma had to get personal acceptance as the disciple of Lord Krishna. Did Lord Brahma have to make any vows? Did Lord Brahma get any official acceptance by Lord Krishna? Lord Brahma heard the Gayatri mantra and was initiated. finished....
  9. If we examine the diksha of Lord Brahma we will find that he was initiated simply by hearing the Gayatri mantra in the form of Lord Krishna's flute music. There was no contract, no mutual acceptance, no examining the guru or disciple and certainly no ritual or ceremonial function. Lord Brahma simply heard the spiritual sound of Krishna's flute and was initiated. So, in the original form of diksha that Lord Krishna personally performed there was no contract, no mention of taking any vows, no period of examining the guru or the disciple - just the hearing of the flute music of Lord Krishna which Lord Brahma then expressed in the form of the Gayatri mantra. So, there are different concepts of diksha. The original concept was just the hearing of Gayatri mantra without any other formularies.
  10. Well, Murali, Its too bad that you have to be against the Gaudiya siddhanta and being so offensive to the literary incarnations of the Lord and the spiritual masters. Its unfortunate that you see a difference between the instructions of the spiritual master and the spiritual master, since the spiritual master only lives to impart those instructions. The books are non-different from Krishna. The books are non-different than the spiritual master. So, to think otherwise is hellish mentality. Next thing you know ol' Muralidhar will be telling us that the deity is just a piece of marble or a hunk of brass. The books are living my friend. Your idea that the books or the spiritual master are dead is a very poor commentary on your state of mind. In fact, I would go so far as to say that Srila Prabhupada is initiating disciples with his books. The books are sabdha-brahma as much as any sound is sabdha-brahma. If you were acquainted with the teachings of your own guru you should now that by now.
  11. Last night I dreamed I was a college student at Northwestrn University in Chicago. I remember the snow and riding to school in a Buick with some older lady and couple of others and fighting deep snow to get there. I remember seeing lake Michigan.... I remember being in class and the teacher, some headphones.... the darn dream just went on and on. Even when I woke up and went back to sleep the same dream continued. Alright, who on this forum goes to college at Northwestern? It's was just another one of my psychic dreams where I was getting impressions from the life of somebody else.
  12. Unfortunately, our less than utopian Krishna consciousness movement has left many of us out in the cold to struggle very hard for survival. There are no easy answers. Once we stray from the full-fledged service of the Lord and enter into the karmic realm we are left to our own devices. In the karmic struggle for existence the ideal situation just isn't there. Do what you have to do to make it through to the final chapter of life and hopefully you can retire from all these worldy responsibilities and immerse yourself in the Holy Name and hopefully make some spiritual advancement before it's all over. Middle-age is a good time because your youthful passions are starting to wane but you still have enough strength and energy to make some spiritual advancement. So, don't wait too long to get back into spiritual life. Middle-age is good. Old age is too late.
  13. I think I would have been a much better devotee and a much better father if I would have had a nice devotee wife for the last 11 years that I have struggled alone as a single Dad. But, I was never blessed with that. I guess I didn't have the sukriti to have a nice devotee wife. A nice devotee wife is considered an expanasion of Laksmi Devi. I never had anything like that in my life. My ex-wife was very favorable and I even got her initiated by a Godbrother. But, our marriage was always very strained and she was 90% deaf and I always had trouble communicating with her. I can't blame nobody but myself. If I had been a better devotee myself then maybe my life would have been different. A good devotee wife would have probably helped me alot, but I never had that.
  14. wow, I hope you can find some nice devotee lady to help you raise the kids. My kids have suffered from not having a good female role model in the home as they grew up. I encourage you to find a nice devotee woman to marry who will help you raise your kids. It's way too much for one man alone to raise kids by himself. I have done that, but I don't recommend it to anyone else. Happy Fathers Day to you as well!!

  17. Looks whos talking. Just yesterday I saw a topic in the archives at Gaudiya Discussions where you were blabbing the gaura gayatri mantra in front of the siddha-pranali people. The difference is that you were blabbing Gaura gayatri which is even more confidential than Brahma Gayatri. The Brahma Gayatri is all over the internet. Anyway, Beavis, I pulled the commentary off of B.G. Narasimha Maharaja's website, so if you have a problem with it being public maybe you should talk to him about it chump. Here is the whole thing in that website. http://www.gosai.com/chaitanya/srila_sridhara_mj/ssm_gayatri.html
