oops..my mistake..please forgive me

Ok so my grandmother is coming from Trinidad, and she's bringing with her a lot of religious goodies ..i'm excited! I've always been fascinated by religious paraphernalia! But anyway...i've asked her to bring me pictures of Kali Mai, Saraswati Mai, and Sri Ram. I was wondering if there is any certain rituals that I must do to welcome these pictures into my home mandir, such as maybe bathing them with milk or something like that. Please help! Thanks

I've come across the conclusion (yes i'm late) that possession is what sets the Shakti worship apart from the regular mainstream Hindu worship. Why do you think that this is how the Divine Mother chose to set apart her worship from the norm? What are some major differences between Shakti worship and regular sanatanist worship?

I never knew that people could get possessed by Lakshmi Maa, does this mean that you can get possessed by all the Devi's, such as Saraswati, and Santoshi Maa?

They also kind of look similar too, when they both wear black saris

Is Khodiyar related in anyway to Katerie Amma? Or are they completely differen't Devi's?

pretty much what i told bhairo, my family is scared of the shakti worship, and the effects that it can have on some people, and so their ignorance is hindering them from actually understanding the worship and love of Kali Mai thanks for your help!

thanks for you own personal input , and i'm very glad that you ended up happy in where you are in life, i think that my parents, and most of my family, are just scared of the different form of shakti worship(trance possessions and healings) that goes on in Kali Mandirs, and so this has made them not like this sort of stuff, but if they knew the true meaning of the worship, and the love of the Divine Mother, than surely they would come around. thanks for your help!

Your shrine sounds very nice and simple at the same time This is how my families shrine is set up: Durga(and soon to be Kali as well), Ganesh, Lakshmi, Saraswati, Shiva, Skanda(Kartikeya), Hanuman I don't believe that my family has a Kuldevata or Kuldevi, and my mind has been ever changing on my Ishta Devata/Devi between Shiva and Durga/Kali

most of all the murits of Durga Ma that I see, she is riding a tiger

I don't think that Diksha can be given online, i think it has to be directly in person between a Guru and a Chela

i remember reading a post where the person mentioned that there was a kali mandir in orlando, but that was a guest

What do you think is a necessity for Shakti worshippers? Which goddesses should we have in our home shrines? How should we position them? Right now we have Lakshmi, Durga, and Saraswati, and hopefully soon i'll be getting a Kali Mai picture also
