Stupid Q of the day

So the stupid question is: How do you know if you are malfunctioning?

with maitri,

Hi Janpa and All,

I was going to elaborate a bit on my earlier

response to Jerry's post, and realized that

janpa'a question tied into it so well.....

I know I'm malfunctioning when I consider Self/God/Soul

as 'apart' from me, and not Me.

Jerry's statement seemed to me to be good advice.

"Abide" with I AM/Self/God/Soul.

I extend that to 'abide with self'.

I am noticing now that the more time I spend trying

to understand, fix, or lose "self", what I seem to only

be accomplishing is focusing *on* self, rather than

simply being Self.

It seems that self becomes integrated into Self

simply by allowing all that flows thru me.....no

resistance to thoughts, feelings, attitudes. "The

allowing" and lack of resistance then creates the

space for self to serve Self rather than compete with

it.

I am malfunctioning when I'm in resistance to any

aspect of self.

When I make it more complicated than that, I simply

lose my Self for a while.....until I return to my "senses". :-)

Speaking for 'myself', that is...

:-)

Love,

Melody

there are the 3 bodies of a buddha, the dharmakaya, sambhogakaya, and

nirmanakaya. What most of us see is the buddha's manifestation body, or

nirmanakaya, occasionally a realized being can see the sambhogakaya.

Dharmakaya is...well, dharmakaya, i dont have a good understanding of

that, but its the Essence.

Thanks for the explanation -- it could make sense although I have NO idea what

you just said! Can anyone explain this in layman's terms?? And are there

'signs' to which body you are seeing? Is it you can only see a certain body

depending on where you are at?

It seems to me that 3 different levels/perspectives of people, looking at the

same Buddha person (or any person for that matter), would see 3 different

bodies, ie perspectives. Wouldn't this just be a perspective of the person

looking at the Buddha, rather than where the person really is? (which would

explain that we are all already tHere)

There's a part in ACIM that says "How you perceive others, is how they will

be". (and How you perceive yourself, is how you will be... How others

perceive you is how you will be... and How others perceive themselves is how

they will be)

Sooo, if it is just perceptions that you are talking about here, then even the

Guru/Enlightened couldn't be 'truly awake' and 'be here' if perceptions are

involved, as perceptions are still part of the illusion, from my

understanding. I could be wrong.

Some deep thoughts on a Friday morning... xxxtg

Its kinda like:

My guru manifests to me as Khenpo Gyurmed Trinley Rinpoche. But like

also, he could manifest to me in a vision or something as a diety like

Green Tara or 4-armed Avolokiteshvara. that vision-level is sambhogakaya i

think. (i'm fuzzy on this stuff myself.) Samb. could also be how one meets

him in the intermediate state after death.

Direct perception of the *guru* with mind/heart/body/NOW is dharmakaya. I

think its ok to equate dharmakaya with primordial mind, but i need to ask

my lama that :).!

hope this helps, sorry for the buddhist philosphy lesson for those who are

not interested in it!

LeeTegee asked me to share this w/ y'all. so i am....

i wrote it back in October, after a weekend-long series of teachings. You

know when you have those moments where everything seems to make sense?

this was one... *sigh* it seems a long time ago too.

-------------------------

Phenemonon, vast as space,

Dharmatu is your base!

Arising and falling

like the ocean's tide cycles,

How could i have clung

to your illusions of

permanent changelessness?

Even ME is part of this,

Limitless in reality,

Clinging to limit

i wander in Samsara.

So blind! so blind!

as vast as space is the

changeless base of primordial

awareness.

Smaller than the atoms of energy

is the changeless base of primordial awareness.

NOW is the buddha!

NOW is the heartlight seen.

there is nothing to do but

be kind.

My teacher's eyes are the sun

shining,

Golden as Shakyamuni's pure form.

Like an image in a screen of a computer,

if i pull the power, it is gone,

such is phenomenal existence.

so too am i.

so is the hearts darkness, like the illusion

of this image.

Settle down into NOW

and see what is true.

There lies me,

there lies you,

Neither one of these is true!

to my precious teacher

whom i can never repay,

with the mechanism of

illusion-reality i offer to

you clouds of Samantabhadra's offerings.

Please confer your blessings!

(if this doesnt make any sense, i wrote it in a moment of bliss.)
