Question For Swamiji - The Deity

Swamiji,

 

I am trying to ask this in a way that will require the most

comprehensive response

 

All mantras, from om to the Chandi Pathah have a deity. I seem to

recall from The Science of Mantra 101 that the mantra embodies the

deity. I guess my question is, to what extent does a given mantra

embody the deity? Does it vary? What is the exact relationship

between mantra and deity?
