I have a Question to any and all Vaishnava & Vaishnavis.

If the essence of all the Vedas & all Siddhanta is to Humbly

chant the Holy names in the Guidance of a bona-fide Guru, Then

why are the majority of devotees spending so much time depating

philosophy insted of chanting in sankirtan??

Is it just the bewildering Energy of Krsnas Maya Potency?

Sankirtan is Kali-Yuga Dharma, so why should we waste so much

time in pritishta & Sectarian arguments?? Chaitanya as a bhakti

avatar was a learned Pundit, but he abandoned it all to

experience The Divine madness of Krsna nama!

If we as devotees could devotee our lives to tasing & sharing

the Holy names without offence, we would have no more tast for

debate & be aloof to all the Karma & Drama!

Jai Nitai

Of course, to know Him is to love Him.

But I think it is also because they have doubts - doubts undoubtedly inherited from the skeptical around them.

I was just reading some George Harrison lyrics about talking to the faithless about Krsna. He concludes:

"And I thought to close my mouth

With a padlock on the night

Leave the battlefield behind

Stay out of the fight

Not lose my sight

Now I only want to be

With no pistol at my brain

But at times it gets so lonely

Could go insane

Could lose my aim

Now I only want to live

With no teardrops in my eyes

But at times it feels like no chance

No clear blue skies

Grey cloudy lies

No clear blue skies

Grey cloudy lies".

I now seek those clear blue skies, leaving the battlefield behind.

The essence is not neccessarily chanting in my humble understanding it is just developing devotion for Lord somehow/anyhow. and chanting is one of the nine processess

1)chanting

2)listening to pastimes of lord

3)devotion to guru

4)company of saints

5)complete absence of duplicity , hypocticy and simple attitude and honesty

6)not to see fault in anyone

7) avoiding bad company

Devotional service should be performed under the guidance of the acarya. Srila Prabhupada recommended that we do service and chant. Hence we follow.

In this connection there is a pastime of Sripada Ramanuja Acharya.

Once he was with his diciples near a pond. He served some puffed rice to the fish in the pond. The fish accepted the maha prasadam and got liberated instantly assuming the four handed eternal form. The diciples were shocked at the instant tranformation and inquired as to why they were not liberated inspite of accepting the acarya's mahaprasadam everyday. Sripada Ramanuja said that the fish were not offensive and speculative.

Similarly due to our offenses and inadequate faith we need to follow all the nine process of devotional service even though chanting alone is more that enough for liberation.

Points well taken. But we are all at different levels and have many things to work through. For me this forum helps me keep my tendancy to speculate in the philosophical speculation side vs. ordinary mental speculation. This helps me remember Krsna and myself as spiritsoul.

I cannot and should not try to imitate Mahaprabhu in my premie stage. The truth is if I am fortunate in my next few births I may be able to stabalize myself in some good solid consistent sadhana-bhakti. While others may be continuing their sadhana already established previously.

Krsna Conscious practice is not a one size fits all proposition.

"Always remember Krsna and never forget Krsna."

This forum and the interaction with others here helps me remember Krsna.

Well as I understand it this is a question of our „level of realization“. So if one has achieved such heights of devotion that he is constantly absorbed in His Form and Name and that he sheds tears even when someone casually mentions His Name such a devotee not only does not need the scriptures, prescribed rituals and sadhanas but will probably be unable to do that as his mind and heart will became ecstatically absorbed as soon as he starts thinking about his Lord.. But these are very rare cases of respected saints we can read about, it is not like you get there as soon as you get the diksha.

So the scriptures, prescribed disciplines and all that are sort of tools to achieve higher levels of devotion, we can not behave and talk form the standpoint of something that might be truth, but is far from our own realizations.

So for most if not even all of us all this aids are essential. I doubt that a lot of us at this moment can chant the names with full concentration, devotion and spiritual joy even for a very short period. So if we are not able even to do that there is no point in discussing that chanting is enough when we are not absorbed in that all the time. So besides establishing us in the proper way of thinking and giving us directions all this other practices and reading also help to keep our minds on spiritual subjects most of our time.

Well, at least that is how I'm seeing this, nothing more. And I'm not a Vaihnava so not really able to talk from that standpoint.
