What do you mean by this and where is the mentioning? Where is it stated such? What of the predictions? What of the promose Lord Shri Krishna gave to Narad in the VAsudev Mahatmya in Skand Puran. Where is that Nar Narayan that is to come of Dham and Murti Devi within the kaliyug who will be born in a samvedi brahmin family?

All these occurance happened with Lord Swaminarayan.

Sri (Ramanuja) Sampradaya. The spiritual master of Sahajananda is considered to be an incarnation of Udava.

That is puzzling since the Sri Sampradaya worships God in His opulent Sri Narayana personality. The statements below obviously are not literal since Srila Ramanuja Acarya was manifest physically hundreds of years earlier. Upon rereading it, perhaps it means that during meditation he was initiated by Srila Ramanuja.

From http://www.vadtal.com/about-sampraday.html

<blockquote>SHRI RAMANAND SWAMI

THE GURU OF LORD SWAMINARAYAN

Ramanand Swami was born of Ajay Sharma (father) and Sumati (mother) in Ayodhya in Vikram Samvat 1795 in a Brahmin family. His child-hood name was Shri Rama Sharma. Ramanand Swami was considered to be the incarnation of Uddhavaji and he resembled Uddhavaji in knowledge and all other meritorious qualities. As he was inclined to asceticism from childhood, he decided not to enter worldly life. He invariably worshipped the idol of Lord Shri Krishna every day. Leaving home-life and visiting pilgrim spots he arrived in Talaja village in Saurashtra and studied Vedic and Indian Philosophical scriptures under scholar Kashiram and became the chief disciple of Atmanand Swami, the great ascetic at Gopnath. His contact with the Guru (Preceptor) led him to the Darshan of divine light of Brahman, considered as the ultimate reality in the universe. But Ramanandji always cherished a strong desire to have the Darshan of Lord Krishna with a form (shape).

His Guru Atmanandji believed in the principle of non-dualism. So he left that place and arrived at Sri Rang Kshetra in the south. There he accepted Bhagawati Diksha (prescribed procedure to initiate a person into particular discipline of religion) in meditating state at the hands of Shri Ramanujacharya and after attaining the Darshan of Lord Krishna he went to Prayag, where he happened to meet Dharmadev, the father of Lord Swaminarayan. Ramanand Swami first offered Mantra Diksha (to initiate into Holy Fellowship) to Dharmadev and then touring through religious places arrived in to Saurashtra region and set up a hermitage in Loj village. About fifty sadhus became his disciples; the chief among them was Muktanandji. When leaving worldly life Lord Swaminarayan known as Neelkanth Varni arrived at Loj, He came in contact with Muktanandji.

Neelkanth Varni cherished a desire to meet Ramanand Swami. The meeting between Ramanand Swami and Neelkanth Varni took place in Piplana village. As Ramanand Swami asked Him about His caste and family; from this it was discovered that His father too, was his disciple. Ramanand Swami offered Diksha to Neelkanth Varni and initiated Him and gave Him two names Sahajanand Swami and Narayan Muni. On the 11th day of the bright half of Kartik month in Vikram Samvat 1858 Ramanand Swami assigned religious responsibility by consecrating Shri Sahajanand Swami on the High Seat of the Holy Fellowship. On that occasion Shri Sahajanand Swami asked for two boons from Ramanand Swami.</blockquote>

Yes, it appears to have been a transcendental initiation: http://www.swaminarayan.org/lordswaminarayan/biography/3.htm

<blockquote>Ramanand Swami

It is worth considering the underlying reason for Ramanand Swami choosing Kathiawad, to establish his fellowship.

Leaving Ayodhya, his birthplace, at the age of eight for Kathiawad, he came across a Brahmanised sadhu named Atmanand Swami. Accepting him as guru, he commenced yogic disciplines. When he attained the eighth state, samadhi, the fruit of Ashtang Yoga, Atmanand Swami granted him a vision of divine light - Nirakar Brahman. For Atmanand Swami, this constituted as the ultimate realisation. But Ramanand Swami yearned for the personal God with form - Sakar Brahman - rather than merely divine light. Disheartened, he left Kathiawad.

He travelled south to Totadri and then to Shrirang Kshetra. Here, he offered sincere devotion to Ramanujacharya, the exponent of Vishishtadvaita. Soon, Ramanujacharya appeared in a divine vision and initiated him into Vaishnavism. Ramanand Swami then travelled to Vrindavan, the city of Lord Krishna's divine sports.

His purity of devotion to Lord Krishna then culminated in his <font color="red">[sp - His]</font> divine darshan, the acme of his spiritual endeavours. Yet this profound experience neither induced him to stay in Vrindavan, nor to return to Ayodhya; both sacred and ideally suited for founding a fellowship.

More likely, divine ordinance inspired him of the imminence of Bhagwan Swaminarayan's incarnation and guided him to Kathiawad. He therefore set to work in preparing a foundation, a framework for the Lord. He established a bhakti sampradaya of sadhus, devotees and adopted the Vishishtadvaita Philosophy of Ramanujacharya. The sampradaya encompassed the bhakti rituals, vows and observances of Vaishnavism. This small, ordered and well-knit fellowship, he then bequeathed to Swami Sahajanand. He commanded the sadhus and devotees - who accepted readily - to now regard and serve the 'chief player' as the new Guru; the Lord Supreme.

A few staunch devotees of Ramanand Swami such as, Lalji Suthar (later to become Nishkulanand Swami), Parvatbhai and Gordhanbhai had firmly accepted Ramanand Swami as their only God. But after meeting Swami Sahajanand, all their resolute resolves dissolved.

Swami Sahajanand now faced the formidable challenge of navigating the Sampradaya (fellowship) through the stormy seas of political upheaval, religious and moral decadence, in the midst of poverty, destitution and superstition.

Swaminarayan Mantra

A few days after Ramanand Swami's departure, Sahajanand Swami presented the Swaminarayan mantra to the followers. Chanting the mantra resulted in a trance-like spiritual state known as samadhi. People experienced divine bliss and the vision of the incarnations they personally revered. Though only attainable after mastering Ashtang yoga, samadhi in these instances occurred purely by the grace of Swami Sahajanand. Henceforth He came to be known as 'Swaminarayan'. He bestowed samadhi upon non-believers as well who chanced to have His darshan, thus attracting them to the fold. He even graced samadhi to animals such as fish, birds and monkeys.</blockquote>

You dont follow the discussion do you ?

My point - where is the scriptural evidence to prove Sri Vaishnavas worship the opulent Personality of Lord Narayana ?

no proof that swami narayan is mentioned in this verse, these verses dont specificaly mention him at all

No sri vaishnava Jeeyars or scholars have questioned the authenticity of Swami Narayan'a alliance to Sri Sampradayam. So whats your problem ?

Before one takes on the task to critic Swami Narayan sampradaya, first one should examine one's own sampradayam's authenticity.

That is - how strictly it follows the siddhanta expounded by its purva acharyas.

You lot are sinning and dont even realise it. Lord Nar Narayan is the Vaery Same Vasudev who lives in Golok. And Swaminarayan is this very Nar NArayan Dev.

First of all its you who mentions the term 'gujus' making you falling prey to maya.

Brahm itself chaitanya and not affetced by the 3 states of maya. Never have i once mentioned you indian, or british or punjabi etc. Then you mention caste system. Well Lord Swaminarayan abolished such as he even ate at a poor low caste family's house at a time where caste system prevailed strongly.

This was a divine leela of his. There are other scriptures which actually state his incarnations as "swami" and even "sahajanand"!!

i will get them verses and actually put them up on here. Yet you will still disregard it all. Just as an atheist disregards God.

True or False?

Krishna will NEVER EVER come again

True or False?

Krishna will ONLY come as Kalki now

True or False?

We find it more acceptable to worship Krishna today because He existed thousands of years ago.

True or False?

Swaminarayan was in fact from Uttar Pradesh, not a Gujarati, and propagated his teachings in Gujarat.

True or False?

There are some deep insecurities in the faith of the visitors of this board.

This was a funny comment but rather true. The Gujarati community seem to believe in anything and everything. And although they have prospered well they still have a village mentality with their caste gatherings and gossip-mongering.

As for Ramanand Swami, this is not the same Ramananda from the Ramanuja Sampradaya, who worshipped lord Rama and was a guru to Kabir, Ravidas and whose teachings had a strong influence on Tulsidas, is it?
