Getting Cursed!!!!

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

the strength of the curse depends on the mystic power of the person pronouncing it. as most people have no mystic powers their curses are irrelevant. however, mothers do have some power over their childen and their curse (if sincere) will have some effect. in any case, cursing will cost the pronouncer dearly in good karma. Krishna can protect a sincere devotee from any curse, especially if this curse is detrimental in spiritual sense, usually by turning the curse into a blessing in disguise.

Dearest mother Vaisnaviji.

Thank you for your kind words, they almost made me cry.

In a world where no matter how much you respect someone you get kicked on we expect people who are closest to us to not to do that. Its ok when someone from the outside world kicks you but when its someone close to you there is no pain that can match that arrow that has peirced your heart.

I understand that this is a turning point in my life. Krsna is guiding me to a new direction. He is showing me his mercy through allowing me to see the follies of the material world. As Prabhupad would say, this is no place for a gentleman.

Thank you for giving me encouragment and giving me your kind words. Where do u go if your family doesnt listen right?

I am ok though, this is a great learning experiance. Now I can be a better father and listen to my children instead of forcing their will on them for their own sense gratification.

Lets not let people mistake your kindness and humbleness for a weekness.

Krsna takes care of us.

I have his devotees guiding me. I love my vaisnava devotees.

hare Krsna prabhu.

I think my mothers curse(if it was that) worked the opposite way. I got a job an hour after the so called curse was thrown upon me.

Only krsna knows if I am sincere or not.

as for me I just have to try to be sincere.

With all due respect prabhu, if that were true I would have "cursed" my kid to have all their sense gradification blocked, with their only success being things in line with that of becoming a pure devotees. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

LOL Haridham! So you're wary of 'em Gujju spies, eh?!

Well, rest assured, I'm not Gujju. I'm from Madras.

I was just being curious ... I saw you say Kem cho in one of ur posts and thot you may be Gujju. And then you said your wife was in Madagascar. It was all a little too confusing for me :-))) Thanks for clearing it up!

But Madagascar ... wow, its an exotic place! Rather than having your wife fly to Canada, I think you should go there! :-)))

Haridham,

I can sit here in judgement and say you're focussing too much on material problems. But you're the affected one and it must be a whole lot more difficult for you. On retrospect, I must say its easy to preach.

So all I can say is take shelter of the holy name.

As that very beautiful verse (Harer Nama Harer nama Harer namaiva kevalam ... ) explains, in this age of Kali, there's no other alternative than to chant the Holy names of the 'Great One'! :-)))

I understand your humour mother Pritaa, but this is not how a curse works. A curse (or blessing) alone cant turn one into a pure devotee, as this is the affair of the heart. Plus, I'm sure you never uttered a real curse in your life. Read Atharva Veda for your "Cursing 101" study /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Yes....exactly what a guju spy would say....hmmmm...

Yes, clearing things up helps. I am sure there are some guju code words in there somewhere.

But Madagascar ... wow, its an exotic place! Rather than having your wife fly to Canada, I think you should go there! :-)))

Sure, if you buy the plane tickets then for sure I will go.

Let me know if you will give me cash, travellers checks or from credit card. THanks super.

Guest ji, thanks a lot for your support. Like the saying goes easier said then done.

I am ok now though, talking with devotees is the best remedy.

No, no, not to 'turn' them into a pure devotee (tho as a mom, thats fine with me lol), but to block their sense gradification so the thing that would prove most functional would be the space in their heart that wants to become purified, and ultimately, cent per cent pure.

"to block their sense gradification so the thing that would prove most functional would be the space in their heart that wants to become purified"

If you completely block their sense gratification while they still have material desires you would only succeed in making them suffer and be very bitter. Making someone blind, deaf and neutered does not lead to pure devotion /images/graemlins/wink.gif We have to volountarily develop higher taste. Try cursing them never to develop relationships with karmis or be burnt as by fire if they taste unoffered bhoga, etc. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Of course it would lead to more problems if sense gradification were blocked. It is not part of Krishna consciousness to completely block anyones sense gradification. This is a common misunderstanding. It is, as you point out, a voluntary process. There are 4 ashramas for a reason. :-) To dovetal and purify material desires.

Exactly what I was saying. Except not so sure about the burnt part. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Apparently to be cursed by Narada, or someone of his stature, is really a great blessing.

We can consider Narada's cursing of Nalakuvara and Manigriva in the tenth chapter of Krsna book for example.

And this will prevent any future harrassment from evil-eyed dogs, tearing their hearts out and leaving their poisonous tongues frozen:

I don't think there is such a thing as being cursed. It is just a worry in your mind. No one has that power these days.

Yes, I know Tony. He does demos with my son. Fortunately Tony doesn't compete against him anymore; the Hawk likes to win, second or third leaves him flat.

My son finally got the 720 and says that no one but Hawk will ever land another 900. He is indeed a miracle to watch; still shoulders above everyone.

If you really have an SDL connection, here are a couple videos of him in his final competition.

Tony Hawk is actually the space alien from Andromeda, Johnnie Falcon. But you didn't hear it from me.

gHari,

Wow, your son is Jay Stevason. He is an amazing skater. Here I am asking whether you know who Tony Hawk (my hereo) is. By the way, I love his video game series, "Tony Hawk Pro Skater" and am planning to get the new one "Tony Hawk's Underground." And you're son actually competes(ed) with him and other skaters that I emulate! You must be proud of him!!

...SDL connection...lol.

Hare Krsna!! haha.

I have also felt great pride as a hundred awed parents and kids looked around at me in LA with equally great awe and reverence when he called out "Dad" from the ramp to hold his cellphone. I was like visibly stoked, dude, and quite embarrassed.

He seems oblivious to the fame now. Maybe he will become a great devotee and will be able to handle being the star on the spot all the time.

I'm very glad to see a skater so interested in loving Krsna.

<center>Whenever you hear the word "awesome",

Know that someone has touched the miraculous

Path of the Skater.

Whenever you are stoked,

Know that you have filled your heart

Touching the Path of the Skater.

Seek the Path always.

Your life will be miraculous.

SKATE FOREVER,
