Guest guest Report post Posted May 20, 2003 since christian theology view adam & eve as the first human born of God's grace, what is the Hindu perspective on the first created human being?
Avinash 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2003 In Hinduism creation is cyclic. This means that world is created, destroyed, created destroyed.... So, there was no really first first human being as the word "first" has no meaning here. But, you can ask who were the first human beings in the present round of creation. The answer is "Swambhuva Manu and Shatarupa".

Guest guest Report post Posted May 21, 2003 from the LINGA PURANA : Brahma divided his body into halves, the first one being called Swayambhuva Manu, a male and the second half being Shatarupa, a female who are ordered to create population in the Universe. Shiva was asked by Brahma to create living beings and those who were created by Shiva were immortal like Him and came to be known as Rudras.
Gauracandra 1 Report post Posted May 23, 2003 I seem to recall that in the Bhavisya Purana there is a story very similar to the story of Adam & Eve. I'll see if I can find it.
