With one form He is supreme God of Vaikunth, like Maha Vishnu. In Vaikunth, Maha Vishnu, God Shiv and Durga, all those three are equally supreme God and Goddess in Vaikunth. Vaikunthaadi pati. From Them this whole universe evolves—such great personality! The other form of God Shiv is in Golok where He is in the form of a Gopi—not like God Shiv wearing matted hair, and scorpions moving around. He is a Gopi. A very pretty, young, Gopi. He’s called Gopeshwar. That’s what we have here in our ashram, a temple of Gopeshwar. You can see, a Shiv ling is there, and on that Shiv ling there is an inscription in golden lines—the Gopi is there, Gopeshwar form is there. The form of Gopeshwar. So Shiv as a Gopi. In Braj, in Vrindaban, in Barsana, He cannot be in the form of Shiv. He has to be as a Gopi. His personal intimate form is Gopi. So He was absorbed in that love, Krishn love. Tripurari: Siva is best thought of from the Vaisnava perspective as a devotee of Krsna. But he is also God, although somewhat differently from the way in which Rama and Krsna are God. Then again, Sadasiva is God in every respect. Siva is a complex tattva. Siva deludes those who are averse to Krsna, and He is favorable to and helps those who are His devotees. Sankara-tattva or Siva-tattva is very complex. He is not Visnu, nor is he a jiva. He is not maya-tattva, but he is not beyond maya-tattva. As Sada-Siva he is Visnu-tattva. As Visnu-tattva he is svamsa, a plenary portion of Krsna. Also, when Krsna incarnates in the three modes of nature, Siva is the predominating deity of tama-guna, the mode of ignorance. Personally I wouldn't give much thought to Prakashananda's statements. He is a follower of Kripalu and has some very questionable practices. Certainly not a traditional Gaudiya Vaishnava. Guest guest Report post Posted February 18, 2003 i agree, there are many different descriptions of Shiva tattva,Radha-Krishna tattva, etc .,to be found in the various schools of thought. The bonafide understanding is only understood by the self realized soul, anyone else is speculating based on interpretation of shastra ,and their words are based not on realization revealed to them but by the desire to seem enlightened to others. Shiva tattva is nicely described by Sridhar Mahahraja, he states that Shiva,not sada Shiva, is the state of consciousness that is experienced by the fully self realized soul, shastric descriptions can only be properly understood and spoken by someone in that position, anyone else is speculating on things that they have no experience with,and is like the frog in the well, trying to describe the world outside of the well, even though he has never been outside of the well. Both have been revealed as such in their own scriptures. Know without a doubt that the Supreme Brahman is both Vishnu and Shiva for they have both been declared as the Self of all things.
