Guest guest Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Having spoken with a lot of atheists, I am always confronted with; "if it wasn't for scientific progress, we would still think that the earth was flat." Are there any vedic scripltures which gives information, directly or indirectly that says the earth is a sphere. Hari Bol! Quote
Streetstraw Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Have u read 5th Canto? Difficult, no? Some conclude Earth is elliptic, others conic. SP quoted some Vedik verse using word gal or gol? meaning round - ball shaped. Has anyone flown around this Earth planet North to South? Was Admiral Byrd discredited? There's your answer. Quote
Jahnava Nitai Das Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 You can also see the carvings of Varaha in ancient temples. He is depicted carrying a round earth. India has known this for thousands of years. Quote
