Actually you would be surprised to know that you triggered off that topic again, while we were discussing something else :-) Satyaraja Dasa and me have arrived at a provisional consensus of something like, "we go our different ways".

Conflict is certainly bad, and in all probability no one enjoys it. But in my opinion, it is always important to stick to facts. And if someone is not aware of the truth, the least we can do is explain what the truth is or atleast what we think the truth is. There is bound to be some friction in the process, but the outcome is that we would have learnt something.

The whole point of discussion is to exchage ideas and it will not always be smooth.

Cheers

>> The basic problem is that the Roman script cannot properly define how a word has to be pronounced.

Not really. In Portuguese as well as many other languages, the words are spelled in the phonological way. In English and some other languages they are spelled most according its anthological origin, that may have nothing to do with its pronounce. It is quite difficult for us to understand how you can known the correct pronounce of English words with this method.

We see no problem with Roman transcriptions and the pronunciation of Sanskrit words.
