Guest guest Report post Posted April 26, 2005 ok....so it is said that we all should live our lives righteously and everythin.....and if you do..u'll be free of the reincarnation circle and attain moksha. The Gita states that even if Man commits the most abominable action, if he devotes himself to God, then he will be considered a saint. How does that work in our day and age? Does that mean that people can go around doing wrong knowing that all they have to do is devote themselves to God? Does that mean that if even we do wrong, if we jus pray to God, its ok? Guest guest Report post Posted April 26, 2005 can u please quote it from gita.....when u come with a debate mentality please provide proof as people who are really stabilised in life will surely accept the fault on their side, if any. if not they will try to clear ur misunderstanding (provided if ur open enough and have not already come to a conclusion before starting the discussion) OM Nama Shivaya OM Namo Narayanaya
Guest guest Report post Posted April 26, 2005 Krishna says 'shipram bhavati dharmatmah:' (ie) if a person of abominable character worship Vishnu or Krishna,he soon becomes a man of righteous character in proportion to the sincerity in devotion. You have missed this sentence and caught hold of the first sentence. Take for eg,Valmiki who killed many animals as a hunter. But as he started chanting 'rama rama',he became a sage gradually. And if a person does not get changed in his character and still continues meat eating, liquor etc even after starting devotion, then it means he is doing devotion for hypocrisy only. Thank you!! Hare Krishna!!!!!!!!
Guest guest Report post Posted April 29, 2005 Hinduism is not like Christianity which believes in conditional salvation. Christianity tells you that you are sinners from the time you are born, that your sins will never be washed away, but that Jesus died for your sins and by accepting Him, you will be saved. That is not a good concept to form belief around, because any tom dick and harry can get baptised at the age of 90 after a life of crime and assume they will go to heaven. What matters is purity of intent in your actions. If i willingly surrender to GOd because i have finally realised the Truth, then that is freedom, moksha, salvation. What Krishna meant in correct context is that a person who is a yogi - that is a person conducting with purity and intent the practice of communion with God through one of the four paths - will automatically free themselves from the material natures and the binding laws of karma, if in the end, they have realised and surrender to God. a person who 'sins' his whole life and then decides to worship God to make up for it, is deluded, and tamasic in nature. therefore, they are still bound by karma and will be reborn for purification. Hindu faith revolves around this concept: surrender with utmost faith to God, and you will be freed from the shackles of earthly existance. a person should not think constantly about karma or reincarnation, because this is the present and we shouldnt care about those things. learn about them for education if you want to. but simply worship God with your heart, and you will be free of doubts and delusion. barney 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 than go on sinning and find out the end result. In actual fact we are not here by accident. We are here because of our past karma. Such as if someone is commiting a sin in this present life commiting murder, rape thievery or cheating someone, he or she is not commiting them out of ignorance but by karma willed upon him by his past action. When his karma is axhausted the atma would leave body to it's next cycle of life untill the soul realizes the creator and abstain from commiting sins than only it would return to the creator. So do not worry about whatever you are thinking or intend to do. Our time here is predestined and whatever happens during this life is all an experience that would set your journey for the next life be it a human, dog, mule, monkey or a snake or even a worm. You have to finish your cycle according to the programe set forth and that is what precisely we are doing here till we are exhausted of our karma. maadhav 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2005 where as xianity says you are a sinner, hinduism says you are not. one sins due to theinfluence of maya and ignorance. thus xian paradigm causes people to do sinnning over and over and then confess in church in order to get cleaned. a hindu mya be sinning, but when he realuses god or comes in assiciation of saints and lives undr his guidance, he does not commit any sin after wards. hinduism teaches hot to live sinfree. bilvamangala was a sinner initially, so was valmili. in contrast i have seen priests who are haavey smokers, meat eaters, and all that, and they think they are religious leaders. what can his follower learn from him? when one does not understand gita properly, he/she will find many problems in gita's message/hinduism.
