How should we serve them? Either by defeating them, that is a humble service, or by crushing their misconceptions. That is a humble service. Or if we cannot do that, we serve them by avoiding them altogether, so they do not make offenses. " "The disciple sees the spiritual master as master. However, in Vaisnava ideology, the spiritual master sees himself the servant of every disciple. Srila Prabhupada once said that I see all my disciples as the representatives of my Guru Maharaj. That means by serving the disciples, he is serving his guru. In Vaisnavism, however advanced we become, we never think we're master. We become more and more humble in the mood of servant to everyone.And even to the conditioned souls, we should never think I am better than them. I should think I am their servant. He said the Hindus are living in the dark and that they should be shown the light and I know what he meant. As a sanadhani one should respect others belief whatever it may be but if he wishes to discover or learn our ways than there is no harm but never compel or say that only your path is the greatest and all others are fake. It would mean that my pie is tastier than your pudding. That is what the Muslims and the Christians say to Hindus. The Atheist have a bellief and that is man is his own master and there no no other power beside his own power. It is like saying I'm God and so why should I look for another God else where. If the believe in the above then why did they go on a conversion war? Their motto was either you become a muslim or you die and that was how Islam was spread in India. So they are contradicting the verse in quran. So, here we have to blame the authors of the Hadith as most Muslims follow the Hadis instead of the quran. How can there be any comparison of the two? What is being said is that if the atheists have grave misconceptions of Vedic religion then we should serve them "by crushing their misconceptions", or if they are willing to engage in discussions then "by defeating them". This has been the standard practise in sanatana dharma from time immemorial. The main point is that we should duly inform others of the Truth as in Vedic texts to our ability -- all our Spiritual Masters have done this. Lastly if they do not consider then avoid them so "they do not make offenses" to the Vedic religion (of course, only as long as they do not commit physical aggression). As long as they don't disturb our religions and beliefs and spread their concepts into our children, they should be left alone. After all, they have right to teach whatever misconception they want to teach their children. However, some could crawl into our backyard and begin to promote their own misconception of Reality onto us (I have seen one or two around here also). What are we going to do about them? In real world, if they did that in my house, I probably chop their head off. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif But this is the Internet where one cannot take arms, so Lies must be dealt with Truth. So, if you see an atheist spread a misconception on anything (Vedic and such), approach the subject and speak the Truth (at least what you know). Don't worry if you not good at it ...
