Guest guest Report post Posted May 9, 2004 When you only look at the finger that points to the heavenly moon - you see nothing but the finger and not the moon.
maadhav 0 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 yes, and think of this: we the vedic people (the hindus) look at the finger of krishna. in gita he points it to himself. and with arms wide open he says, "i love you, come to me." so, we see his finger, arms, and himself as well. have you ever felt like that while reading gita? pick a user name if more discussion is desired. Pankaja_Dasa 1 Report post Posted May 9, 2004 Bruce Lee who said that! 'don't look at the finger' /images/graemlins/laugh.gif 'otherwise you will miss..' In other words concentrate on the object, deef stuff, needs to be realized in your mind.
Guest guest Report post Posted May 10, 2004 maadhav: you reply with nothing but poetic words. claim that they are true or whatever, but it's nothing more to you, cause if it is true, it's still past, and what u haven't seen is so not real to you. you don't have it and you don't see it. This first statement in this thread is simple, and we can't deny any of it. If u SEE the finger and the moon, you only SEE the finger and the moon. Look at a chair and see how many imaginations you can come up with in your head from looking at the chair. Your mind will glow with imaginations.. it's eaven hard to NOT imagine something when you look at something. With this, people of today can hardly see what they are looking at, cause we tend to imagine things about what we see.. We're pretty blinded by material and invisible/fictionary values =( It's sad =(
Guest guest Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Did you get that from Bruce lee in 'Enter the Dragon'? I think Bruce Lee took that quote from Jiddu Krishnamurthy whom he was inspired by. "Don't think...FEEL! It is like a finger pointing away to the moon. DON'T concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory"
Pankaja_Dasa 1 Report post Posted May 10, 2004 Bruce Lee was not a Mahatma, although people consider him to be, amazing isn't it? Read Gita to find out who is Mahatma.
Guest guest Report post Posted May 11, 2004 I don't know of any people who would consider Brucel Lee a Mahatma. Just because someone quotes eastern philosophy, it doesn't make them a Mahatma.
Guest guest Report post Posted May 11, 2004 If bruce Lee was qouteing Jiddu Krishnamurti it's NOT making him Mahatma or like it is taken from western or eastern words or history or anything. Krishnamurti's words is not about any culture or religion or places in this world, it's just pure human logic as we humans are able to see, understand and see.
