Guest guest Report post Posted April 10, 2004 I am a Westerner, and do understand that Hindus do believe in one and only God and that the different Gods are worshipped as representations of the One and Only God. As far as Ganseh is concerned, I have grown very fond of him and what he represents. I would like to know how Lord Ganesh is worshipped; what prayers are said and how one should say them. Thank you for your help. PS: Through reading other posts, i understand that followers of other monotheist religions are ridiculing Hinduism. Please, acknowledge that all people who have grown up in different cultures feel the same and I personally feel quite ashamed for those who make fun of a religion/philosophy that could well be the origin of all other religions and which is so peaceful and open-minded. maadhav 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2004 ganesh is mainly worshipped so that you would succeed in your good endevours. Every religious ceremony starts with ganesh worship. "murphy" does not bother a ganesh worshipper. know more and more about ganesh, and develop love for him. then pray him to succeed in your good efforts/actions/plans. a simple mantra for him is: sri gaNeshhya namaH. (I surrender to sri ganesh.)

Ganeshprasad 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2004 Jai Ganesh Re (Ganesh is destroying impediment, but you have to know He's not God, he's a powerful servant.) Since time in memorial lord Ganesh has been prayed to first, to remove obstacles. He is worthy of our worship what ever his position in relation to the supreme Lord. There is no need for you to call him a servant unless you are at same level or above him. You are welcome to practice your own sadhna there is no compulsion for you to worship lord Ganesh nor is there any need to change the tradition on your account. Jai Shree Krishna The world disappears in him. He is the peaceful, the good, the one without a second.
Guest guest Report post Posted April 12, 2004 Ganapathi is called MuzhuMudharKadavul in tamil. Which means " the first and foremost and the complete god". All rituals start with worshipping Ganesh. All Tamil Literature start with praise for Ganapathi. Every ritual , every homa, starts with Ganapathi Vandhana. Even nitya karmas ( like Sandhya Vandan) starts with Ganesh worship.
