Arya is pronounced as aarya.

aarya is a person who accepts teh authority of the vedas and lives by it.

aaryavarta is the land where aryas live.

itis india. at one time the whole earth was aaryavarta.

aaryavarti is a hindi word for aryan or hindustani or hindu.

aaryavarti means aarya.

Aryan is an english word. it means aarya to the hindus.

to the non hindus it means one who is born in a superior race Aryan. however, aaryan is not a race at all.

we know it from the vedic literature.

no one is Aryan or aarya till he/she accepts the authority of the vedas and lives by it.

aarya is also know as sanatana dharmi or varnasrami or hindu.

<< What is the plural, is it Aaryas? >>

it depends in what language you want plural.

in sanskrit it is aaryaaH.

in englush it is aaryas.

etc.

<< Also why is it called India then? >>

europeans called sindu 'indu'

from it the word indus, and then india.

that it british or eurpoean creation of the word.

i am not the linguist though.

some expert may have better explanation.

<< what is the relevance? >>

the non hindu world has not cared to respect what the people of bharat name or say. they give any name they like for them, their history, their country, their religion, etc.

burma's (now myanmar?) original name is brahma desh.

vadodra city was called baroda by the brits.

afghanistan's original name is gandhar.

from it came the name kandahar.

sri lanka retained itn name, but they calle it colombo, probably after columbus.

to the many original people of america continent they called then 'red indians'.

mumbai city was called bombay by them.

thus the spirit and history of the hindus was being killed.

I understand but why are Indians not doing anything about it. I mean it is their country, they are independent now, so they can call themselvs anything they want, so why are they clinging to the names given by foreigners? This is strnge. They have so little self-respect that they've accepted foreign names, but still talk about their ancient culture and all that. Seems as if Hindus are quite stupid. Are all Hindus like that, meaning lacking in self-respect? Is being lowly part of Hindu Dharm as well?

I'm an Indian but was not born in India. If you ask me why I would blame the Muslims and British. My grand father left India and settled down in another country. But being an Indian I still have love for India as it was the country of origin of Indians. It is a pity my religion forbids me to be violent. The Indians should have drove away the Muslims the day they set foot on Bharat's soil and so the British too. Robert Clive was a sneaky thief who actually came as a porper and robbed innocent mother India of her riches. The Mogul invader who was a Muslim was a greedy asura who forced the Hindus in the north with his mighty barbaric soldiers or shall I say thieves by their sword to convert the Hindus. It is a sad story but this two devils will fall one day for invading and robbing countries which do not belong to them.

Barney, I agree with what you say, but out of curiosity, on other threads, you were praising islam and blasting maadhav as a fanatic. Sudddenly, you are singing a different tune. What brought about the change of heart?? BTW: why the name Barney?
