Low B12.

There is no food where you can get any useable vitamin B12 that is not

animal. You have to have fortified foods, or supplements. Marmite was once

thought to have B12 but there is very little and it is not useable - and

there is a very high salt content.

Well i just don't like anything milky be it soya milk

or anything similar.People like different things.

I love Marmite to death but don't think it's a crime

if others hate it with equal passion.

Hi Louis

I don't think I ever have said that I didn't like soya milk... but if I was going to, the method would most likely involve movement of the lips, tongue and vocal chords, along with some expulsion of air... best achieved by good diaphragm control :-)

I let my kid eats dirt in the backyard, to get b12. but we also

supplement.

last night, I spent 120 dollars on groceries at Whole Foods Market.

My wallet is hurting and I think that I will never go there again.

it is just such a nice place to shop.

however, I had read, an email about how they are not so nice as they

appear.

for instance, they promote organic produce, but most of it is not

local. They are putting some local, neighnborhood, farmers out of

business, while using up fossil fuels to ship things from far away

countries.

my ultimate goal (if possible) is to not shop for food at all

and to have a wild crazy backyard(however small it is) with all

kinds of edible foods. To live off the earth, I am saving

the seeds of the things that I eat in a glass Jar and starting

seedlings.

All the supermarket fruit & veg in this country is labelled with the country of origin, usually a tiny label. It is very hard to buy locally grown organic produce around where I live, and due to the climate impossible to buy exotic / citrus of UK origin. You might be able to get stuff from the Welsh Horticultural College's vegan organic (stockfree) box scheme. You should be able to get more info at the vegan Organic Network http://www.veganorganic.net

hi fraggle,

when you say that you can make informed choices, I really don't

think that you see the problem. le me 'splain.

I purposely went to the whole foods in my town, with the intention of

proving a point to myself, why I shouldn't shop there (so often)

NOT A SINGLE FRUIT or VEGETABLE was from florida.

why must my blueberries be from New Zealand if there are blueberry

farms nearby

why must my garlic come from argentina,

why must my organic grapes come from south africa,

why must my bananas come from guatemala,

why must my flowers come from columbia

why must my tomatoes come from california

ANd for godssake! why must my Oranges come from Mexico!

I am living in a land that is so fertile that alls ya

hafta do is spit out a seed on the ground and the next day

there's a tree there.

it didn't matter if something was organic, or not, in there, it was

multiculralism 101.

maybe, fraggle, when you do go to your local Whole Foods,

things seem local to you because, well you are in california, and

everything in there comes from california.

But so does mine and California is not local for me.

I have been to the Whole foods in North Carolina, New York, and Texas,

the Same thing was happening. Everything was from California, or some

other foreign country.

Whole foods is a scam, because they are leading people to believe

that they are doing a good thing by buying organic, when in reality

they are using up a lot of the earths fuel by transportation of all

of these fruits and vegetables,

and putting the local farmers out of business.

I really don't know who to blame, for the way our society is,

Nearby, in Myakka, there are NEw condominiums being built as we speak,

where there used to be a farms.

well..i agree with you anouk

the entire agricultural system in the US is set up that way

but..my local whole foods at least lists where things come from, and they seem

to make an effort to bring in local produce

i could go to berkeley bowl, but, they don't tell me where anything comes

from...

the best bet..go to farmers markets....

luckily, there are several in my area...

i just can't always make it to one...

HI Anouk

I recognise your point. The US is so big that just because something comes

from one part does not make it locally grown. AFterall the US is lots of

small countries pretending to be one. For us in Britain it is like saying

that food from anywhere in Europe is local.

i never thought about it that way, but you;re right, seems

like that.

coming from new york to florida is vastly differently

mostly different mindset of people.

everyone here is very laid back and not in a hurry, except when

driving of course. We have a combination of very very slow drivers,(

many elderly folks in their 90's)

and very very fast inconsiderate jerks(young newcomers), which makes

not a good combination. We have the highest pedestrian deaths.

One thing that unites us all in the us is, well.. target, walmart,

home depot, mcdonalds, etc. Those are pretty much everywhere.

I will go more often to the farmers market.

I consider myself a farmer,

a tiny one.

even if I just grow one tomato, it will be worth it and will

taste better to me.

I think that what is kinda mess up is how

the us is a

consuming society, consuming the products of other countries.

instead of a

producing society, producing their own goods and being self sufficient.

I do not wish, to be part of this consuming/ parasitic, / co-dependent

environment that does not take the conseqquences to the earth in mind.

of course i am just trying, i am human, faulty.
