Buy Canadian.. Harry Potter

They had another book leak out here last night. About a mile from

me. Not only did they sell the book, but they sold it at the wrong

price too. Wish it was me that got it!

With the amount of books that they have already pre-sold, that is an

amazing amount of waste! Even if the recycled content was as low as

1% that would be a lot of saved trees!

What's on the " to read " list?

I need to make one of those myself. I've been to the library lately,

but only to run in and find books on triglycerides. I definately

need to find some quiet time!

Well here we are Harry Potter mania,

I would just like to say to all you lovely people who camped outside bookshops for 12 hours until the midnight hour, just for the pleasure of paying top whack for this tomme, that all supermarkets ( some open 24hrs ) also have copies, and at half price.

But to cap it all off , I am as usual in the local library. My daughter came with me this morning , and walked in and picked up a copy................for nowt. No camping out, no payment, just my taxes in action...........

Gloating lots,

The Valley Vegan............nikki_mackovitch <nikkimack wrote:

They had another book leak out here last night. About a mile from me. Not only did they sell the book, but they sold it at the wrong price too. Wish it was me that got it!With the amount of books that they have already pre-sold, that is an amazing amount of waste! Even if the recycled content was as low as 1% that would be a lot of saved trees!Nikki , "Lynda" wrote:> >> http://www.cbc.ca/story/arts/national/2005/07/12/Arts/potterrecycle050712.ht> ml> > Greenpeace to U.S. Potter fans: Buy Canadian> > Last Updated Tue, 12 Jul 2005 11:52:51 EDT> > CBC Arts> >> > Greenpeace and the U.S. National Wildlife Federation are urging U.S.> > fans planning to buy the new Harry Potter book later this week to

I was rather curious at that behaviour... I could understand if there were limited numbers, so people were queueing to buy it before it was out of stock...!

I pre-ordered it through Amazon.com and paid full price because I JUST CAN'T WAIT TO READ IT!!! I've spent the last three weeks re-reading the first five books in preparation and have been salivating waiting for today. And there's flat out no way it's even going to be in my local library for anyone to read for at least six months.

Just talking of Amazon, a little while back, I read something about Amazon being non-animal friendly. I can't remember why... can anyone help me out, and does anyone know if they're still doing whatever it was they used to do that made them non-animal friendly????

O.K., I did some more investigation. They also wanted them to stop carrying books such as the homesteading books that tell folks how to kill, clean and cut up animals for food.

Hi Peter

Amazon was selling pate fois gras (or whatever the phrase is) - damaged goose liver from force fed geese. I believe they have stopped it now.

My son went to a Harry Potter party the night before the book was released. Apparently he was the only one who had to leave before midnight, (but he didn't complain), anyhow, the next morning I rushed out to buy 2 books (one for him and one for me) and drop his off at his work before I had to rush off to class. He called me as I was leaving class to tell me he found out that he had won a book at the party the night before. How cool is that?Anna Blaine <anna333 wrote:
