Guest guest
Yuck, No! If I were to move there, it definately wouldn't be to Phoenix or anywhere else heavily populated. It would be somewhere I could get a decent size piece of land and though not too far to civilization, not too close either. New Mexico and Nevada wouldn't be bad either. Somewhere warm most if not all of the time, close to nature. Nikki , " ChemGeek " <chemgeek@c...> wrote: > > Myself I dream of Arizona... > > Good lord, why? Guest guest
First you need to know that over the last few decades it has become " in " over here to be American Indian. Gets old real fast when you realise that until 1928 an American Indian had no rights and was legally defined by law as " not human. " Now, one has to understand that there is no " royalty " in the Cherokee Nation. The term was used by folks to describe " hang around the fort " Indian women who were, hmmm, well to put it bluntly, whores. So, needless to say with the history of discrimination, etc. " real " Indians get quite a kick out of folks who have " discovered " they are Indian and proudly proclaim that their grandmother was a " Cherokee princess. " Of course, 99% of them aren't and haven't a clue. My only comment to them is that if there were that many Cherokees the invaders would never have taken over this continent. Guest guest
Go to Germany. There are whole groups that are just goo gaa over anything American Indian. They spend weeks at a time " playing " Indian and will spend a mint on anything authentic American Indian. Give themselves American Indian names, pay for " real " American Indians to come over and teach them how to be American Indian. Of course, most British troops do have experience of doing service in a scenario not too different from Iraq at the moment, since most of them have served in Northern Ireland at some point during their careers! Guest guest
If we had our drothers folks would ask and the name of the people in question would be used. Kinda like folks calling everyone from the east side of the pond Europeans or the west side of the pond Americans. With the influx of east Indians to the U.S. it has become somewhat confusing. So it is up for grabs but a lot of the rez raised and those raised in their ethnic traditions refer to themselves as " The People " or " First Nations.
