If ever you're in IL, I'm up for the babysitting swap! And if I ever

go back to FL, I'll give you a holler. :)

Wow, a day at the library. That does not sound bad to me.

Occasionally Zak and I will go together for a couple of hours. Our

library has a great kids section and we make a deal. Mom gets 20

minutes to roam around feverously collecting books and then we

settle down in the kids section. Mom reads while DS goes to his

books, puzzles, games or the computers they have there.

Then off to video section where DS picks one or two for $.50 each

and we check out and go home.

You're right about the furniture too! Our couch is from when hubby's

parents first got married before he was born and it is still in

pretty good shape. And he'll be 41 next month! Yes, he's a bit older

than me, but not too much. :)

Frag speaks the truth

by letting Asper grass set for the first couple years it will be worth it

ok

about every 6 months cut everything down to the nubbs

when it regrows you can harvest only if the spears are bigger than your little finger

when they become smaller than that let it grow

and repeat.

by the third year (which was last year for us) you will be eating much devine god like asparagus

once the spears start coming up smaller then allow to grow for 6 to 8 months then cut to the nubbs and start all over

they love a very rich soil

so fertilize a couple times a year with kelp extract and compost

enjoy

Hi Nikki

It sounds as though your garden is going well. It is always satisfying to

eat your own produce.

Dream Theater - heavy prog metal - very talented. They were described in

Metal Hammer a few years ago as 'outrageous bombast alongside shimmering

beauty' and I think that is the perfect description of their music.

Hi Jo

We love the woods too! It's so relaxing to take a nice stroll and

As for my garden, I have just gotten my first crop from it and OH MY

make it into the bowl to be brought in. :)

I also tried my hand at asparagus this year and it worked! Though

small, they are producing and well. I'm quite excited as I heard

asparagus was hard to grow.

So what is the name fo your fav American band?

Hi Nikki

They have been around a while - their first album was in 1989, although with

a different vocalist, who was also rather good. They are nice looking.

I can't say that I know them well, but they are definately nice to

look at!

They've been around for a long time haven't they?

yes, tis my very first

I am going by what a dear friends grandfather told me to do. Let them

grow up and then snip them. This year they are too small to actually

harvest for dinner.

He said year 3 is the year too!

Nikki - waiting as patiently as possible

Hi Jo

It's tastier too! Tomatoes actually taste like tomatoes!

I'll have to keep an eye out for more info on Dream Theater, sounds

right up my alley!

have a

I would like to get a telescope in the future.

They say a good pair of binoculars are better than a cheap telescope,

so I would have to save money for one. A good one should start about

$100, but they go up to 800.

a guy on the radio said that it makes sense to buy a good one, being

that it will probably last for a very long time.

There are some that are computerized, and tell you exactly what you are

looking at, some so clear that you could see the rings of Saturn.

Hi Anouk

That sounds interesting. I shall have to do some 'research' before we

buy one. We do have some faily good binoculars, but I can't hold them

up for as long as is necessary - makes my shoulderss ache!

I heard that once it is established, the spears can grow an inch a day!

by letting Asper grass set for the first couple years it will be worth it

ok

about every 6 months cut everything down to the nubbs

when it regrows you can harvest only if the spears are bigger than your little finger

when they become smaller than that let it grow

and repeat.

by the third year (which was last year for us) you will be eating much devine god like asparagus

once the spears start coming up smaller then allow to grow for 6 to 8 months then cut to the nubbs and start all over

they love a very rich soil

so fertilize a couple times a year with kelp extract and compost

enjoy

is this its first year fer the asparagus nikki?

don't harvest it!!!

it needs time to set up a root system

you can harvest it very lightly in its second year, and fully by year 3.... nikki_mackovitch Jun 14, 2005 4:38 AM Re: Staying home Hi JoWe love the woods too! It's so relaxing to take a nice stroll and see what you can see.As for my garden, I have just gotten my first crop from it and OH MY is it yummy! My peapods are going crazy and half of them do not even make it into the bowl to be brought in. :)I also tried my hand at asparagus this year and it worked! Though small, they are producing and well. I'm quite excited as I heard asparagus was hard to grow.So what is the name fo your fav American band?BBNikki :) , "Jo Cwazy" <heartwork@c...> wrote:> HI Fraggle> > I know what you say is
