It has some pretty good twists and turns and I especially like how in each episode you find out more about the people's backgrounds. It adds more to the story.Alias is about FBI agents and is written very well. 24 is about CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit)for America and it is written pretty well too. Both have good plots and some good twists too.BBNikki , "heartwerk" <heartwork@c...> wrote:> I'll have to watch those then. Guest guest Report post Posted June 12, 2005 Hi Fraggle Trouble is the shows like to go to cost us £15 or more each so that can't be done too often. We meet friends in a pub and it cost about £4 for coffee (cos we don't drink alcohol) so that'snot too bad, but wouldn't want to do it every night. There's not much else to do here without travelling miles. Besides - we don't want to go out all the time. I guess we spend about four hours a week watching telly, so I don't think that is anything to worry about. Guest guest Report post Posted June 13, 2005 Ah, well then will you please share? Actually for us tis not that simple. But sounds like you had a great deal on Fri! If we want to go out without DS, there in comes the cash for the babysitter. We really have no family to support us that way or friends nearby who aren't out themselves. Then there is the gas expense. Food or drink or both for two. Tix here for anything is way more expensive than $15 and if it is not, it is downtown and there again is gas and parking. Now as for free things, we do those all together. Go to the woods, the zoo or museums on free days, picnic, take a walk, etc. And we really try not to watch too much t.v., but I figure after a 70 hour work week 4-5 hours t.v. a week isn't that bad. And there-in also lies a bigger problem for us. I work way too much! So the time is a factor. Most of our remaining cash is spent on Zak's college fund, repairing the house and an occasionaly out to eat at a local restaurant. And to be dreadfully honest, it bothers me not one bit. I don't mind that we have hand me down furniture, I don't mind you can hear the car a block away and I don't mind that we don't spend what we don't have. Because we have all we need. A good dysfunctional family, a peaceful escape in the backyard, some pretty good friends (even y'all) and we're breathing. Not that sometimes I don't envy you my friend. Able to pick up and go on vacation at the drop off a hat or the night's out. You're quite resourceful you know. Honestly I don't know how you do it. But I also never want to be unhappy with what I have. Nikki Who must be really tired because she just started up the soapbox and shoulda jumped off long ago. , fraggle <EBbrewpunx@e...> wrote: > apparantly i am independently wealthy and didn't know it.. who would have thunk it going out doesn't have to cost money since friday i've gone to two parties and two shows not including the beer i drank(i brought my own) i spent a whooping $8.... and, worked the door last nite, so got $40....and a whole lot of homebrew cider so, came out ahead today, go to farmer's market in an hour, then thru chinatown and look fer a part fer my rice cooker, then flea market... then tonite go to another show

Guest guest Report post Posted June 13, 2005 HI Fraggle I know what you say is in love and is taken as so. We've just heard that our favourite American band are coming over in October and playing two nights running - different sets! That's going to be expensive, but we can't miss it. We do have mostly own bought furniture now, but not for a lot of our lives. We also love free activities - gardening, looking at the night sky, walking anywhere really, but in the woods is favuorite, with along the beach nearly as good (but of course we have to travel by car to get to the beach). Guest guest Report post Posted June 13, 2005 HI Fraggle There's no street lights or anything here, so we get a good view of the stars - when it's not cloudy. Our daughter lives in London, and when she stayed with us for a couple of months, between flats, she made the most of the darkness, and apparently went out in the garden in the middle of the night to look at them! What she didn't like was not being able to receive a mobile signal. Jo >our night sky is generally a sorta orange glowing blob.....gotta luv the city.... Guest guest Report post Posted June 13, 2005 Tut tut! :-) They are prog metal - rather heavy. The vocalist has a really good voice - the drummer is the best in the world (no arguments). The first night, first set will be their new album, the second set some of their older stuff. The second night, first set will be some more of their older stuff, and the second set they will be covering an entire album - although we don't yet know what they will cover. Last time they covered an Iron Maiden album. I don't know what it will cost yet, because the tickets are not on sale, but I imagine about £20 each per night. BBJo ouch... 15 pounds..... but..i guess to each their own and i was only commentin cuz the way ya'll were talkin about tv shows, it sounded like there was a whole lot more then 4 hours a week!!! and, it was all said in love anyways hee hee heartwerk Jun 12, 2005 1:52 PM Re: Staying home Hi FraggleTrouble is the shows like to go to cost us £15 or more each so thatcan't be done too often. We meet friends in a pub and it cost about£4 for coffee (cos we don't drink alcohol) so that'snot too bad, butwouldn't want to do it every night. There's not much else to do herewithout travelling miles. Besides - we don't want to go out all thetime. Guest guest Report post Posted June 14, 2005 It is the same for us. Me and my husband joke around that we should have done more, and gone out more before we had kids. instead, in the 90's, we just sat around like two dopes, reading books. We would meet at the library in the morning and come out at night, read a pile of books all day.. We haven't been in florida a year yet. We know not one soul here. I don't feel much in common with the people around me. We spend a lot on groceries, as we try to buy organic. I am currently joining a VeganMeetup group that meets once a month. I like your comment about used furniture, even If i had money, I think that I would still buy it. used furniture has more character and they just don't make them like that anymore. (we just picked up a table at a goodwill store.) it is nearly new. we live five minutes from beaches, so that is what we do free that we most enjoy:) I wish we would live, near each other, we could totally swap babysitting nites , " nikki_mackovitch " <nikkimack@m...> wrote: >> Then there is the gas expense. Guest guest Report post Posted June 14, 2005 hi fraggle, the upper east side of new york city, was a great place to " shop " for furniture (and books) that have been thrown out. no, I was not embarrased to pick something up from the garbage and bring it home. I have found treasures, in the recycling cans of apartments (especially between fifth and park) books of architecture from the 1940's, Science Magazines from the 1960's, Classics, paperbacks from the 80's, Bad romance novels, old Life magazines, records, cd, encyclopaedias, Out-Of Prints... my five year old would help me look for stuff last year when I still lived there and he found some cool toys...brand new. I should be ashamed, but I'm not. , fraggle <EBbrewpunx@e...> wrote: >
Guest guest Report post Posted June 14, 2005 Wow, sounds just like home <g> No street lights, no stop lights, no stop signs, no sidewalk, well, except right in front of the elementary school, and no cell phones! Gotta love it! Lynda - Jo Cwazy Monday, June 13, 2005 2:10 PM Re: Re: Staying home HI Fraggle There's no street lights or anything here, so we get a good view of the stars - when it's not cloudy. Our daughter lives in London, and when she stayed with us for a couple of months, between flats, she made the most of the darkness, and apparently went out in the garden in the middle of the night to look at them! What she didn't like was not being able to receive a mobile signal. Guest guest Report post Posted June 14, 2005 that sounds beautiful. peaceful. have you got a telescope. do you study constellations. it is marvelous to know that socrates, cro-magnum, the dinosours, billions of years ago, gazed and pondered up at the same moon and stars that we do today. , " Jo Cwazy " <heartwork@c...> wrote: > HI Fraggle > > There's no street lights or anything here, so we get a good view of the stars - when it's not cloudy. Guest guest Report post Posted June 14, 2005 We used to live in Wine Country and the county dump set aside an area for free trade items. When we moved up the coast, the county transfer station opened a free trade station for hazardous waste type items like paint. I wish all areas had those. The things you can find that are perfectly serviceable is just remarkable! We got some beautiful eggshell finish paint that would have cost up $20 a gallon, free! Eldest son got a gorgeous antique desk that had a wobbly leg. He fixed the leg and uses it for his computer. On the underside of the thing was a date and signature of the person who made it! Guest guest Report post Posted June 14, 2005 Hi Anouk It is beautiful. When Halleys comet was doing the rounds we used to drive up to a local hill and watch it for a while. We used to have a telescope, but something happened to it, and its lense wasn't right. We keep intending to get another. Guest guest Report post Posted June 14, 2005 See now I wish we had shows like that around here. Then even paying for the sitter wouldn't be that bad. Of course would have to bring extra for the drinks, but once in a while would be worth it. Ya see, I told ya you were resourceful! Guest guest Report post Posted June 14, 2005 Hi Jo We love the woods too! It's so relaxing to take a nice stroll and see what you can see. As for my garden, I have just gotten my first crop from it and OH MY is it yummy! My peapods are going crazy and half of them do not even make it into the bowl to be brought in. I also tried my hand at asparagus this year and it worked! Though small, they are producing and well. I'm quite excited as I heard asparagus was hard to grow. So what is the name fo your fav American band? BB Nikki , " Jo Cwazy " <heartwork@c...> wrote: > HI Fraggle > > I know what you say is in love and is taken as so.
