I don't know about Blair but you aren't doing the math quite correctly on

Alfred E. Newman's evil doppleganger. Voters are the folks that actually

vote. Eligible voters are folks who could but don't necessarily vote.

Afred E's 22% is of the eligible voters, however, he received 50.73% of the

actual votes cast. Well, of the supposed votes cast since there are some

real questions in states such as Ohio where, for example, one precinct had

only 600 some votes but cast over 3000 votes for Dumbya.

Why are you tired of people expressing their opinion about a government -you

are not the government. It is not a personal comment to you. Everyone is

welcome to slag-off the UK government as far as I am concerned. They don't

behave the way I want them to. Presumably the US government behaves the way

you want them to and that is why you defend them so passionately.

Although I doubt you actually like the government - haven't I heard you call

them the 'whorehouse' and other such insults in your previous emails? Where

are you coming from?

Why do you think the US government should not take responsibility for what

it has done wrong. The American people didn't seem to agree with the

Vietnam war.

I am without sin in the context of this conversation, so don't quote the

bible at me like the 'rabid, radical, religious' people you were talking

about a few emails ago. We are discussing governments. I did not say the

US government was responsible for 'all things evil' - those are your words.

I said they should take responsibility for the bad things they have done (as

was said in the article I sent in), and I fail to see how anybody can

disagree - either to the fact that they have done bad things, or that they

should take responsibility. You seem to think I would feel upset when you

said the UK government is as bad - but it doesn't upset me. I agree, but

that doesn't take the heat of your government.

Just how much responsibility shall the U.S. take? For how long? And what

about France, GB, Russian, China and Australia? Are they going to take care

of their share? Have they taken care of any share?

And just how long after the fact are folks still responsible? If they wait

long enough does their responsibility end because their residents say " I

wasn't born then? "

Do you, personally, have any idea of how much has already been done? As far

as that goes, is anything ever enough?

Were you of voting age in the 60s? did you vote for Johnson or Nixon or Reagan?

How is it your responsibility if you weren't in favor and actively worked to stop it?

I mean, if you voted for the buffoons, then you bear some of the responsibility. If, on the other hand, you work to stop them or work to help those you can help, then why would it be your responsibility?

I've done my share. I've written the grants, personally walked folks through the paperwork, put together groups that worked to remove some of the idiots on local, state and the federal level.

I refuse to take responsibility for a government that I disagree with and work to correct, particularly when I personally work to help those that need help.

Now, if folks simply talk the talk but don't do anything to back it up, then they are as responsible as are those that voted for the bad guys or those that couldn't be bothered.

Maybe some of the war budget could go to looking after the children who are

born deformed because of the legacy of the spraying in Vietnam. It was not

their fault that they were born deformed.

Incidentally, the same thing will happen with all the depleted uranium that

has been used on the bombs dropped in Iraq - people will be suffering

because of that too - and was it entirely necessary to use depleted uranium,

or was it maybe just a way of dumping waste in another country?

sorry..i was only born in the 60's..they don't let 2 yrs olds vote yet..but..amazingly enough they let two year olds run the nation...funny that

and

i bear responsibility cuz they are doing it in my name..because i live here, because i can't get enough ppl to listen..because i live in this cute little lap of luxury and have food and a motorcycle, and buy their gasoline which is a big chunk of the reason why we invaded iraq(and soon will be bombing the bejeebers out of iran)...

because i don't know what else to do.....

because there is so much i should be doing

because i prolly shouldbe tossing my little body across the tracks of some train carrying cruise missiles to their shipping point..because i prolly should be chaining myself to the doors of the justice dept,

cuz they are doing this crap in my name..and we are still letting them...

ok..i'm gonna go away to cry now.................. Lynda May 6, 2005 3:24 PM Re: BBC website - Agent Orange

Now, if folks simply talk the talk but don't do anything to back it up, then they are as responsible as are those that voted for the bad guys or those that couldn't be bothered.

depleted uranium is used because it makes the rounds *harder* and more armor piercing

and, of course, its a great way to get rid of all that spent nuclear gunk..and gives a shot in the arm to the flailing nuclear energy Jo Cwazy May 6, 2005 3:45 PM Re: Re: BBC website - Agent Orange Maybe some of the war budget could go to looking after the children who areborn deformed because of the legacy of the spraying in Vietnam. So why are you getting so upset about people criticising the US government?

Not all, but most.... as Amnesty International pointed out in an official

report about 5 years ago, pointing out that the vast majority of people who

are tortured and killed are living under regimes supported by, or set up by

the US government.

While I don't really want to get dug down into semantics... voters are

people who have the right to vote. A number make a conscious decision not to

vote. That doesn't mean they aren't voters, just that they choose to

abstain. They still " vote " , just not by putting a cross in a box (or

punching a chad, or whatever you guys in the US do nowadays!)

Hi Peter

> Fweedom to bear arms is always a good one!

And just to start another in-depth discussion.... someone recently pointed out that when that was written, "arms" was usually at worst a cross-bow, or a sword... they didn't really envisage it meaning rapid-fire machine guns and the like... makes you wonder why you don't have people in the US wandering around with pocket-size nuclear weapons claiming that they have every right to under the constitution :-)
