Guest guest Report post Posted March 1, 2007 It really is amazing how generous you folks are who are so creative, culinarily speaking. I use recipes, and I do make modifications, but rarely enough to really consider it a new recipe. I often use cookbooks and websites, as well as recipes posted here, but except for recipes I get from here, I'm reluctant to post reviews because it's not always kosher to post the actual recipe. My recent cooking experiments have been from Vegan Lunchbox cookbook, the Eat To Live website, the Promoting Health cookbook and the fatfreevegan website. :-) Sharon genny_y2k wrote: > The recipes that I post are my own 'experiments/creations/adaptations > of other recipes. >
Guest guest Report post Posted February 11, 2008 Our dear Donna and Diane keep those recipes filed on our home page, into different catagories, so you don't have to worry about missing any. So many tried and true, good recipes are in our files and new ones posted here all the time by our generous, wonderful members........ It is such great inspiration to get in our kitchen and create good yummy food to eat isn't it. Judy - mylameoww Monday, February 11, 2008 10:24 PM recipes Thanks for all of the fabulous recipes everyone posts! This may be a silly question , but I was wondering if all of the recipes that are posted end up in the recipe file?? I am wondering how would be best for me to save them, or will I just be able to refer to the recipe files? Thanks! ~Danielle
Guest guest Report post Posted April 30, 2008 haven't done anything exciting lately over here poverty sux last nite was: sauteed tofu, with 2 cans organic coconut milk sauteed the tofu in sesame oil, and added tumeric, cumin, red pepper flakes, and pepper.. after it had browned, threw in the two cans of coconut milk... then added(mostly from the garden): (chopped) bok choy, joi choi, tatsoi, spinach, brocoli, cauliflower, thai basil, and this weird oregano mimic which i forgot the name off added diced garlic, turned off the heat and covered served over basmati rice..... pretty basic and boring, but good enough and pretty quick (and, i had the stuff lying around...) lunch was foul mudammas and tabouli with pita.... angelod119 Apr 28, 2008 3:55 PM Recipes Any body have any favorite recipes they like to dish out. Guest guest Report post Posted May 19, 2008 Well, here’s a recipe I used to use all the time Its from the soy not oi cookbook I got back in, gak, prolly 1990... Sauce 1 onion (sliced) Lotsa garlic ( I use 6-8 cloves, but, I luv garlic) (chopped) Several cans of tomato paste water 1 tbl spoon organic sugar 3 tbl spoons garlic salt 1 cup Mushrooms Basil, oregano, black pepper to taste Slice and saute’ onion and garlic for several minutes (until tender), Add paste and water, and reduce heat. Simmer for one hour, while adding mushrooms, and spices (and anything else you think sounds good, zukes, artichoke hearts, etc) “Cheese†2 blocks tofu (firm) 1 cup soy milk 1/8 lb nutritional yeast Blend all together until chunky, (not liquid), a potato masher works just as well as a blender if you don’t have one of those (I didn’t for the longest time) Noodles. Simple, boil lasagna pasta noodles and drain. When cooked, align noodles on bottom of casserole pan, cover with sauce and “chesseâ€, then slap on another layer of noodles, more sauce and “cheeseâ€, repeat until you reach the top. I used to layer in various veggies if I had them… Angelo Dicks May 17, 2008 2:55 PM Cc: angelod119 Re: Re: Recipes I await your reply. Guest guest Report post Posted January 6, 2009 Have you tried the Chickpea Cutlets from Veganomicon. I believe you find the recipe by googling. They are really yummy...kind of remind me of the chkn you would have on a chkn parmesan style sandwich. I recommend using the food processor to puree the chickpeas and olive oil until they're really smooth. We also make a really easy tofu recipe that I think tastes and smells like fried chkn. Basically you just slice firm or extra firm tofu into slices (maybe 10), then dip each slice in tamari, then coat with nutritional yeast and then fry both sides in some olive oil, and in our house, we dip them in ketchup. I realize these are not burgers, but they are both really yummy and not beany at all. I do not have a great veggie burger recipe. My fave boxed one is the boca " grilled, " which I do not think is beany at all. HTH! Christina jenny.wren76 Tue, 6 Jan 2009 11:15:00 -0600 recipes Hello all. I am working toward getting my family back to a vegetarian/vegan diet. It's really hard for me because they all have such different tastes. My oldest (14yod) is my biggest problem, she doesn't eat any beans or products that taste remotely like beans, hates all dairy (not really a problem), doesn't like that many vegetables. We just moved from San Diego to Pensacola, and in San Diego we bought Light Burgers by the people that make Smart Ground. She liked those, and those are the only veggie burger she's really liked, but they aren't available here. Right now I'd love to have a burger recipe that tastes more like a burger and not like veggies/beans. I get overwhelmed trying to find them on google. Thanks! Guest guest Report post Posted January 6, 2009 The Chickpea cutlets from Veganomicon are FANTASTIC! My carnivorous husband loves them- we both think they are fantastic with barbecue sauce. Sorry I'm not more help on the veggie burger front- I personally don't like the taste of meat so I have no idea, but would love to find something hubby would eat more happily! Guest guest Report post Posted August 8, 2009 All recipes submitted by our members, go in the recipe files. Our dear Donna and Diane are wonderful about putting them in there and keep them all organized in different catagories for us. Thanks Donna and Diane! Judy - debbiemn12000 Saturday, August 08, 2009 5:08 AM Recipes Good morning, I am enjoying my membership in this group. I love the recipes but I have a question. When a member posts a recipe, do they go to the recipe file or do I need to copy the ones that I think I want to try? If I want to post a recipe, should I post it to the files?? Just curious and since I've seen other new members, I think they might want to know this too. Thank you! Debbie
