Guest guest Report post Posted April 16, 2004 Thanx for the info, Laura. I just finished talking with Kathleen at Tiny Trapeze. Wow! What a nice person. She said they make their marshmallows daily. They have a shelf life of one month. She said you won't get sick if you eat them after one month, but the flavor would probably have somewhat " mellowed " by then. No worries there for us as I doubt they will last more than a day or so in our house! <g> They have vegan marshmallows in chocolate and vanilla. They have non-vegan marshmallows in lemon, chocolate, and vanilla. The price for the vegan marshmallows is $8.50 for a 7.5 ounce bag, $6.29 for non-vegan (no idea what they use as a jelling agent in the non-vegan or what makes them non-vegan. Sorry, I forgot to ask). Because the marshmallows are handcut, the number in each bag may vary but she said there were about 10 - 15 marshmallows in each bag. Best of all, there is no waiting list! It will take about 4 days to get from Boston to Florida by ground. Can't wait! My kids have never had marshmallows. They are so excited! Tiny Trapeze has quite a few more confections, but the vanilla and chocolate marshmallows are the only things Kathleen said that they have that are vegan. They do have quite a few vegetarian items (s'mores for one). Thanx again for sharing this info, Laura!!!!! God's Peace, Gayle
Guest guest Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I checked out the Tiny Trapeze website, but the price scared me away.... Anyway, we just tried the Pangea vegan marshmallows ($3.99 per bag) yesterday at a campfire in our backyard. They are quite small and they don't really melt, but my kids loved them. My husband was not impressed. I'm not a really sweets person, but I thought they were OK in s'mores... I had to try it! We have the Vegan Essentials marshmallows on the way, so we'll do a " taste test. " Thanks, Tracy - <quintmom Friday, April 16, 2004 7:53 AM Re: vegan marshmallows > Thanx for the info, Laura. Guest guest Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I know this was awhile ago, but has anyone been to Pangea.com? They used to sell vegan marshmallows, also there is a way to make them with agar agar flakes, I'll have to get back to you on that one though. Good luck! Guest guest Report post Posted April 20, 2004 I just rec'd vegan marshmallows from Vegan Essentials in Milwaukee and it took about 3 days for them to be shipped to me in Maryland. I also picked up marshmallows from Pangeas in Rockville. They make Vegan Sweets. They just received a very large shipment so I'm not sure why there would be a wait. The marshmallows from Vegan Essentials are more like real marshmallows and have a lighter, fluffier consistency than the ones from Vegan Sweets. Regarding the other company that sells both vegan and regular marshmallows -- how careful are they in keeping machinery, etc. separate?

My mom is making fudge & is looking for them... I found out that the Kraft brand of Marshmallow creme has no gelatin in them, but my mom still wants the actual marshmallow!! Also, I went to & plugged in vegan marshmallow & came up with a store in Rockville, Maryland...the web site is: http://www.veganstore.com I was disappointed on the price for S & H...I was trying to buy 2 bags of irregular shaped marshmallows 12 oz/each for 1.99/each, and S & H was $5.79!! I was outraged, I was going to have to pay twice the amount of the product to have it shipped... Now, I don't think I am stingy, but the price really blew my mind!! Maybe someone knows of a company that has a decent shipping price. I have no problems paying for shipping for a hard-to-find product, but this seems to be gouging. HELP! Guest guest Report post Posted January 7, 2005 Doesn't seem out of line to me. My wife works for a compnay that regulary thips item all around the world, and the cost of shipping is hgih. I know that to the consumer it sound outrageous though, but think about this, what if hte items you were purchasing too up the same space etc, and cost 30 dollars, would that seem to hgih then? I would love to taste those things thoough!!! Sounds good!1 Cynthia <lescyn wrote: Hi everyone, I remember everyone was sending in ideas on how to find vegan marshmallows... Guest guest Report post Posted June 29, 2005 We have tried making s'mores with the Pangea marshmallows and found that they didn't roast very well. They didn't get soft enough, actually. Unfortunately, I don't know of any other sources unless you are ambitious enough to make them yourself. Jennifer , <quintmom@n...> wrote: > Hi, > My kids are going to camp in a couple of weeks. There will be several cook-outs where they will be making s'mores. We used to use the marshmallows available at Vegan Essentials but they have taken them out of their catalog at this time due to the controversy over Emes gelatin which they were made with. I thought I'd try Pangea's marshmallows but they are sort of small for roasting and I'm not really sure how they would hold up to roasting. It seems like they would melt quickly and right off the stick. Has anyone ever roasted the Pangea marshmallows? Does anyone have another source for vegan marshmallows that would be good for roasting? > > God's Peace, > Gayle > >

Guest guest Report post Posted May 30, 2006 Yes, I'll be looking forward to your report on these... I did have some vegan marshmellows that I found at whole foods made by vegansweets. You can find them onlime. Actually your post earlier made me think of them and I cooked up some vegan rice crispy bars. Well, no rice crispies so I used some whole grain o's. Guest guest Report post Posted July 26, 2006 Yes, I've tried them. They're not bad, though quite different in texture than the non-vegan variety. If one is expecting fluffy, creamy, melt-in-your mouth really truly marshmallows, these aren't them. However, I haven't tried making rice crispy treats, roasting these over the campfire, floating them on a hot drink, or any other marshmallow tests.
