yes, to be raw, meens you only eat raw fruits and vegetables and

nothing else. It's the healthiest diet you can possibly adapt. As

long as you make sure to have the right balance of different fruits

ad veggies everyday, you should have no problems with it. If you

want more information, see my website:

www.childrenofthemillennium.org, and also check out www.living-

foods.com Both excellent sites on the issue. My website covers a

wide range of issues as well, inlcuding activism, environmentalism,

and diet. It's a community, so join if you like and enjoy.

Thanks. I knew it sounded like a dumb question in a way, but I figured I wouldn't know if I didn't ask.

I'll check out your site tonight, when I get the children settled in.

Thanks, I usually try to do spell check on words since I have dyslexia but unfortunatly the two words sound alike and the spell check did not pick it up, it was only after I sent it and my hubby was reading it over my should that he pointed it out to me.Yes, the group does seem friendly, and I look forward to sharing and learning from the group. It really isn't a dumb question. most people don't even know what

the word VEGAN means, so a raw diet is obviously even less heard of.

Hi Alexandra,

Am hoping you have a quick veggie recipe (or so) to

share here. This it a good time of year for sprout

salad. I tend to go raw more in warm weather and

realize that " sprouted " is yum. I ate Essene bread for

a while but enjoy the regular sprouted grain more.

Hello there -

boredom? With Veggie foods? I've run into periods where, as a raw

vegan it can get tough - but if you're a " cooking " type of person, the

variety of foods is incredible. It takes some research, but there are

really great cookbooks out there for those who do not eat animal flesh.

Some of the Bocca products can add zing to a diet, ways of preparing

veggies and fruits can provide real variety to a diet.

Just like when you were eating hamburgers and frenchfries cooked in

animal fat - if you ate steak every night you'd be bored in no time -

well - the same holds true with vegetarian foods - add some variety

and spices - make some really creative salads, toss some odd fruits

into the mix, fool around with nuts and legumes for protien, have at

it with dried fruits for texture - no reason to exist on pasta! Get

excited about what you're preparing, get creative and enjoy!

Cheers

Hi Queen!

I'm new to the group, too, although a long-time vegetarian. I agree

with the other responses - no need to get bored being veggie. I have

found that spices are indeed the spice of life. My life hasn't been

the same since I found cumin! I also like to mix things up by trying

new combinations of otherwise " boring " foods.

There's great resources on the web and almost every grocery store

carries meat-alternatives now.

Good luck!

Hi Queen,

Welcome to the group. There is a lot of great advice in this group. So if

you are having a particular " struggle " , let us know and maybe we can help.

What are your " owners " names? Again, welcome and take care.

Do you like Thai food, Indian food, Chinese food - just for starters- ?

Glad, too, to see another dog and cat lover on the list! (I have two

BTW, are your dogs/cats veggie?

Looking forward to chatting with you ;=)

New to the Group

Hey Everyone, I am a new vegan. I shouldn't even say 100% vegan .. im attempting 100% but there r still some things out there that slip by my vegan radar. I havent been 98% vegan for too long. Just a few mnths and have already noticed a big difference in not only the way my body feels but other things as well...I do have a 4 1/2 yr old daughter who is doing quite well on the diet.. altho she does still ask occasionally about going to mcdonalds for a garden salad but nothing else cuz they "are made from animals".. she is beyond compassionate towards all animals and im happy that she is young enough where it is easier to instill this lifestyle and even if she doesnt stay vegan she will at least have better health in the future... I live in Canada.. in a little city.. but there is still some health food stores but sometimes books and so forth aren't available.. i was jus wondering if there any other canadians on this list?? well thats it for now ...i have already learned quite a bit from previous msgs...

Hi, it's always nice to meet another vegan. Good luck on adopting

this lifestyle. :-)

I love the way you are bringing up your daughter and that she

recognises that burger bars just sell food " made from animals " .

Simple but effective!

Hi,

I'm from Toronto, Canada

I have been on the list for a while but I don't have much of a chance to post, I have a 17 month old son and recently went back to work.

I think its great that your daughter is excepting her new diet, your lucky I'm sure allot of parents would have a much harder time.

My son is also vegan and it is very challenging at his age, he is very picky, we have good days and bad days but the older he gets we have more good than bad.

How is your family excepting your new diet?

I think one of the hardest things about becoming vegan is dealing with your family especially when you have children.

well good luck,

Tina

Hi Tina

It's difficult to find the time to join in much when you have a young family, but it's good to hear from you. I think you are doing the best for your son, by feeding him a vegan diet.
