Guest guest Report post Posted November 25, 2006 Thank you! That sounds so yummy. This will be my first holiday as a vegan and I looooved custard. My husband just realized we'll have to skip the cheese balls this year. And butter tarts. So many animal products are part of our holidays, even though it's been many, many years since we've eaten the meat. I'm wondering how shortbread will taste with vegan butter. What do you mix with your ginger snaps to make the crust? Heather darranged wrote: > > The pumpkin pie is from Vegetarian Times many, many years ago. Make them a loaf from the files or you could get a frozen Quorn roast and make it with a homemade gravy from the sauce recipe folder. Guest guest Report post Posted September 2, 2008 Tammy, Make your favorite sage stuffing(with veggie broth). A dish of carameled baked sweet potatoes , pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes and gravy and stuffed celery and stuffed mushrooms. Lots of fresh veggies and dip. I also make deviled eggs for the children. These recipes are in our files and you can always adapt them to your taste. Mercy ! Guest guest Report post Posted November 22, 2008 HI: My daughter and I like the tofurkey however we do not like the stuffing. We usually take out the stuffing and stuff it with something else. We like it better then the quorn roast. I think for us the quorn roast might be to close to the real thing. Gayle In a message dated 11/22/2008 9:13:38 P.M. Guest guest Report post Posted November 22, 2008 Hahahaha. I know it's funny how our tastes are so different. That roast wasn't a hit when I served it a few years ago. I actually love the loaves in our files and usually make one of those two. The Quorn goes so fast it's nice to have a loaf for the next day with all the leftovers. Guest guest Report post Posted November 10, 2009 We go a different route as we have no family nearby. We go to our neighborhood Free dinner. The culinary arts school at our local community college caters the event. They include much yummy veggie food. More delicious than what I have ever made. Also, a world famous jazz musician (Paul Biondi) always shows up with his band to the delight of us all. There are crafts and activities for the kids and we are spending time with homeless and hungry people. Some years I have made it down to volunteer but apparently they have TO much help available. Anyway, my son does find ways to serve during the clean up faze so it's a win-win for us. This year the local college (U of O) is recruiting families to host an international student. I offered to pick some up and take them to the free dinner. While I know it is a blessing to relax in a home atmosphere, this is definitely a viable alternative for them to experience a different side of the US. Sincerely, Isa Aviad
