Hi Risa,

Are you sure that was 1 " tablespoon " salt? Seems like a lot for only 1 qt

of tomatoes.

Risa,

I don't know if you live in an area where Miller's kosher cheeses are

available, but just as an FYI, Miller's does make a grated Parmesan

cheese that is kosher for Passover. Actually, I believe most, if not

all, of their cheeses are kosher for use anytime during the year,

including Passover.

This recipe sounds yummy! I'll have to give it a try.

LOL. I do like the orange but shouldn't eat it as orange disagrees with me.

I sniff orange juice because I love it, but if I drank it I would feel

really bad.

Hi fraggle,

you can get it in the usa.

If you go to your local Whole Paycheck, (whole foods market)

they (usually) will carry Green and Blacks in the gourmet chocolate

aisle. Mine does.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

I hope that you both have a wonderful time! What an amazing amount

of time. Boy, and I thought 9 years was forever. :)

So what did the kiddies get you two?

Thanks Nikki

We did have a good time. I had broad bean rice with garlic aubergine, salad

and asparagus with dill. Colin had kedgeree with avacado and vegetable

curry, with salad, and we had mango lassi to drink.

I suppose it does sound a long time, but it doesn't feel it at all - and we

have a promise for the next few lives as well :-) (stop cringing Peter).

I hope my kids haven't bought us anything this year as Peter is supporting

himself at uni and Laura is trying to catch up on debts after having no

permanent work for two years! They have always been generous with presents

before.

Hi Jo

Sounds wonderful!

I do have to ask tho, what is " kedgeree " ?

We usually don't do much along the way for presents ourselves.

Rather do something enjoyable together, like dinner for instance.

And my best presents ever received are ones that Zak makes himself.

There you go! Peter can draw you a picture! (sorry, I just can't

resist)

Honestly tho I think presents are over-rated. Tis nice to receive

things from time to time, but well wishes from the heart last longer.

I'm glad you both had a wonderful time!

I agree with you about presents Nikki. Maybe Peter can sing us a song next

time we see him - that's always nice :-)

Kedgeree was originally rice mixed with flaked fish and odds and ends. Our

version of course was vegan - rice with chopped veggies and herbs and

spices.

Now that sounds like a dinner I make. Now when someone asks what I

had for dinner, I can say Kedgeree instead of a rice dish.

be aware that kedgeree is a specific dish there nikki

:)

its *suppose* to have fish and such

you'll just confuse yer guests if you make a pilaff and call it kedgeree

*narrows eyes*

Are you trying to take my word-of-the-day away?

What if I add gummy fish on the side?

Besides, it's not like I don't confuse my friends as it is!

I always thought it was an idea nicked from the Indians in the days when Britania waved the rules. I have heard that there are many similar versions eaten in India with chickpeas/beans/lentils instead of the traditional(?) haddock, but using various spices rather than the lame version of "curry powder"

What are you having tonight Peter? We haven't decided yet. We've been out in the garden wrestling with a bush which we are trying to remove, and the roots are enormous and deep, so I expect we won't spend too much time cooking.

Peter - I hope it was good whatever it was. We're having cajun bake tonight, which is basically shallots, baked beans, and chick peas, with sliced partly boiled potatoes on top, sprinkled with cajun mix and baked in the oven, served with broccoli. It is very simple and quick but very tasty.
